so influencers are… "boxing" each other now?
Hey everyone welcome back to my channel! Last week you might have caught (or heard about) the Jake Paul vs Ben Askren boxing fight event, or that they had somehow convinced people like Doja Cat, Saweetie, Diplo, Pete Davidson, The Black Keys, Snoop Dogg and Justin Bieber (????) to perform at it or show up. A ton of clips from the fight were all over my timeline that night so I thought it would be interesting to look into it especially considering Jake Paul seems to have decided to become a full-time boxer now. The more I looked into the one event though, I realized it might be more fun to look at the trend of influencers turning to boxing as a whole since I found out it isn’t just the Paul brothers and KSI who have taken up boxing in the past few years.
SO I guess the best way to describe this video is a general look at the boxing trend on youtube, how it started and became so successful and how it’s now become a trend amongst other influencers like Tik Tokers ahead of the Battle of the Platforms boxing fight between Austin Mcbroom and Bryce Hall. But don’t worry we’ll also be looking a bit more into the most recent Jake Paul fight because the clips that came out of that event are… interesting to say the least.
Since I’m not an avid watcher of boxing I’d love to hear from any of you guys about what you think when it comes to influencers taking up the sport, but even if you aren’t a boxing fan let me know what you think if you want! I think the trend is definitely very random but an interesting one to watch go down and while it’s wild already I have a feeling it’s only going to get more unhinged as other packs of influencers join in on the trend lol.

i think the desire especially for these tiktok boys to move away from just being known for thirst traps made for teenage girls comes from society's deep-rooted hatred for this demographic because it makes them more likely to be taken seriously (apparently meaning by other men)

I wonder what would happen if Jake fought an actual boxer. So far he has fought RUclips creators and other types of athletes. The most recent one was a fighter, but he was an MMA fighter not a boxer.

Apparently Floyd Mayweather has agreed to fight him, and every boxing commentator who has been asked about it has said that it is a terrible idea. He hasn't fought any actual boxers yet, just influencers and other athletes, so the consensus is that he would get his shit rocked by a real boxer. Mayweather could probably do no training and eat a big lunch beforehand and still knock him out.

On and update to this comment: he did fight Anderson Silva and won, much to my disappointment. Maybe age won out, but Silva is still a winner in my book because professionals like him don't cheapen the sport into some wannabe WWE program. Jake Paul was pure cringe throughout the entire show.

My fav part of all this was when Jake Paul claimed to be so committed to boxing he was 'ignoring the first stages of Chronic Traumatic Encephalopathy' to keep boxing. Which was crazy because CTE is super serious. All professional athletes know it is not something to mess with and here is JP acting like its no biggie and he should *continue* fighting. He got clowned on so much he had to make a statement saying 'I don't really have CTE, I misunderstood the doctors.' He is just genuinely so stupid.
On Saturday I watched the REAL UFC fights and at one point the crowd started chanting “fuck Jake Paul” and he was there and it was wonderful 😂😂😂

The KSI v Logan Paul was also believable because well... look at them. Even before the match, they both had the bodies of boxers. These new Tiktokers and RUclips look wayyyyy to small/skinny to be in a serious boxing match. Not saying that all boxers have to have the biggest bodies, but it just isn't believable to the fanbase that aren't also boxing fans.

I actually really like how the Paul brothers are finding their own niches. Logan has Pokémon cards, and Jake has boxing. It makes the internet a little more tolerable I think now that they have outlets. It’s like when the school bullies find a hobby or a sport and end up being chill.

in Poland we have this big event called Fame MMA that happens a couple of times a year and it's just fights between celebrities and surprisingly it's really popular here. also they've recently added Hype MMA which is meant for small creators and its purpose is to make them famous by those fights I think. and I personally don't know anyone watching this, but it looks like they're profiting off of it a LOT

It's worth mentioning about Ben Askren, the MMA fighter, that he's a wrestler primarily, and even for a wrestler his skill at punching was mediocre at best. He is retired and severely out of shape. He also seemed to barely practice for the fight, and was paid the same amount, win or lose, so he had no motivation to win.
For those unfamiliar with combat sports, Imagine that I'm having a dance off, but then I reveal that my opponent is a singer who only occasionally dances, hasn't danced in years, and doesn't really want to beat me. It wasn't rigged, it just...was pointless.

It’s like I’m back in high school all over again lol the popular kids on Fridays would have a “fight night” at this one dudes house. The dude would get people wanting to fight and then everyone would vote on who would be fighting. It turned into this huge thing and kids from different high schools would even attend/fight
