The commercials on TV show the car (any car with brake capability) stopping from real speeds. I have the Prius Prime and have witnessed the car brake by itself when parking in tight spots. I'd like to have a sheet strewn across the road and just drive straight for it at 35 mph and see what happens. I suspect the car would stop by itself.
it says in page 3 of the TSS brochure link attached below, that the system does not operate while the accelerator is pressed. I guess this is to prevent false alarm automatic braking - imagine coming to a stop due to false alarm brake engagement in the middle of 70 mph free flow traffic on a multi-lane highway. A false alarm could be caused by a plastic bag on the road. www.toyota.com/content/ebrochure/CFA_TSS_12.13.16.pdf
Choice777 Yeah it does because it gives you the alert to BRAKE! Even with your foot on the gas and then it still brakes with the gas pedal being depressed because of smart stop technology in Toyota’s star safety system
Nope it works for 6 mph to top speed of car it can come to a complete stop from 6 mph to 50 mph It’s Saved me from hitting a pedestrian at 45 MPH and then on the car manual it said works from 6 to top speed and avoids collision from 6 to 50 MPH

doesn't work..
@@Nereus00 it does work
2:29 cocky pedestrian moonwalking. Run him over >:D

Sounds unlikely. What if one is going 30, 40, 50 miles per hour? It should still work.
How do you turn on the pcs
With the sonar sensor, it works well. The one without sonar/radar cruise control, it is not as good.
Would PCS still work if your foot is on the gas peddle?
yes
No

it did that on my rental corolla when I thought I was breaking hard enough but I guess the car didn't think so and it braked even harder on its own.
Will the car brake automatically if you don't react to the warnings?
yes
it saved me in osaka
Texting?
What model and year car?
usually they would have their foot on the accelerator.
doeasnt matter tho, in the prius the brake always got first priority.

Sound like it
damn, why wasnt this feature an option for the 2016 corolla, one of their best selling cars?
it's standard on Toyotas 2017 and on.
Only at 17 MPH? Are you kidding me?
Exactly LOL Doesnt everyone need help avoiding accidents at a whopping 17 miles an hour?

Tacoma is getting this for 2018.
Janet Airlines it’s good when you’re cruising down a neighborhood
"mitigate"? so it doesn't work? wtf? and it doesn't work if your foot is on the gas? that's shit.

Pretty lame, Honda already has it in so many of their models. Toyota needs to bring it sooner.
actually toyota has it on more models.
+Mark1
Toyota has it on ALL MODELS.
With Honda it's an option. Plus, they don't even have rear cross-traffic alert available on most models.
Toyota had it in 2007 on the Toyota Crown Honda got it in 2010 so Toyota had it first
And for Honda it’s a option it’s standard on Toyota’s
Heres an idea, rather than needing a car to break for you (which may or may not work), why not just pay attention 99% of accidents are avoidable.
A car has brakes. If you need to take a break from too much driving, the car will brake for you. Did I break your concentration?
which is why there's TSS - an accident avoidance system.
