What if the ferrule has been there for many years some are really on there will this tool still be able to pull it out ?

Do not reuse the compression ring
Nice tool but way too expensive compared to other options.
I just use the old ferrule and nut with the new stop valve. Just tighten the hell out of it and it will reseal to the new stop valve.
I do the same but I put a little dab of pipe dope around the ferrule just in case.
Liquid Teflon never hurt
Yes, but older valves sometimes have two different types of threads and the new valve will not screw onto the old nut.

Is the tool body made of plastic or aluminum ? It is available for 3/4" and 1" as well ?
Feels like metal not plastic. And I have only seen it for 1/2” and check the website. Only 1/2”.
