So thankful that I could help you! 😁 another hoodie given a breath of fresh air, a new life! 😂 Seriously, thank you for watching and leave such an uplifting comment!
Thanks for the tutorial...Almost what I wanted. My problem with this method is that there is no actual finished collar. A collar has 2 layers of fabric so you don't see the rough side of the material. So I'll be figuring out how to do an actual collar (or short faux turtleneck).
Thank you for the great comment! You're very welcome! I'm glad I could help and feel free to contact me if you have any questions or have a request for a video.
This was great!! Your camera work was OUTSTANDING! Instructions were nice and clear without the extra fluff in so many of these how-to videos. Well done!
Thank you so much! I use that cardstock all the time cause I can't seem to keep the hem the same without it! 😆 🤷♀️ hope you give it a try! Thanks for watching and taking the time to comment! 😊
Thanks for this video. How do you rollaway a hood into the collar of a down coat which cannot be cut? I want to roll it up so it doesn't hang down and not sure how to keep it rolled up. Any ideas?
Me too. I have so many hooded sweatshirts, loved the hoods even though I don't use them, but so.ejust almost choke me. Wanted to take them off. But wasn't sure how to do it. Thank you so much for posting this.
I have a Carhartt jacket that I only wear when I’m traveling because it has a lot of pockets with buttons and zippers. But I want to remove the hood because it adds weight and is annoying and I never use it. I was surprised to see that 31,714 viewers want to remove their hoods, LOL. I thought I was the only one!
Thanks for your information- I’m needing to remove a hood from a thick insulated sweatshirt jacket. Since it’s so thick I’m hoping this technique will work. It’s for a friend who uses this jacket while riding his motorcycle and hates the hood flapping. Thanks again, I’m off to try this out.
I followed another tutorial before coming here and I cut the entirety of the hood off, and now the collar is way too wide. Do you know what I can do to fix it or should I just buy a crew neck?
Oh I’m so sorry that happened! 😕 you could try adding some coordinating fabric to the area that you cut off and then follow the tutorial to finish the hemming. I hope it works out! Good luck! 😁I’d love to know how it turns out!
I don’t have a pattern for this. All coats and hoods will be a little different so I think it may be a little difficult. Please let me know if you do find one though. 😁
Oh I think I misunderstood. You want to alter the original pattern right? I don’t have one but I’m sure someone on RUclips can show you. Try searching for altering a pattern hope this helped a little. 😁😆
Thanks for the question! 😊 I've never tried but I'm sure you could. If I'm correct on the style of the hoodie, the collar would be constructed from the hood. Please let me know how it works, if you try it. 😁
Thank you so much!! I especially appreciate the tip with the cardboard strip. I can't stand how many things have hoods attached that we never use!
I was about to get rid of a bunch of hoodies as the hoods drive me nuts. So glad to have found a fix for them! Now I can keep them :)

I'd like to see how the collar lays when its on. I did one and maybe seeing yours might show me where I went wrong.
Oh no! What happened ShesJo? Did you have a problem? Maybe I can help you.
I will look for a pic of my granddaughter wearing it to show you. 😊

This is the only video I've found on how to do this. I do wish you would have shown better pics of the finished collar. Thanks.

This is great! I am not a seamstress, but want to try this. What kind of thread did you use? I'm assuming it needs to be stretchy?
I just used a regular thread
Nice job
Thank You!

I have a pattern for a coat that has a hood we don’t want. Is there a way to make the hood a collar from a pattern?
I don’t have a pattern for this. All coats and hoods will be a little different so I think it may be a little difficult. Please let me know if you do find one though. 😁

Hi is it possible to do this with a Hoody that doesn’t have a zip

solid vid
Thank you very much! I'm glad you liked it.
why did'nt she put finished jacket on a manikin or even a coat hanger, to show how the collar looked. how it lay on the neck.
Where is the finish
I'm sorry, I'm not quite sure what you are asking?
