I was under the impression that Russians all look like Northwestern Europeans thanks to American Media. This is an eye-opening piece of video to me and would be nice if you can share more about the different ethnic tribes in Russia.
Ethnic Russians just like Ukrainians and Belarusians originate from the Rus people who were the old Slavs. Only reason why Russia is a “multi ethnic” country is because they conquered a lot of different areas but the people in these areas were not ethnic Russians they were Asians etc. Russia speaks an indo European language, follow Christianity, and they’re both culturally and genetically European. I myself is of a Ural-Siberian origin, with fair skin (that blushes instead of bronzing under sun), fine brown hair, and slightly wide cheekbones. Since i was little, people have always asked me whether I was russian or russian mix because i had fairer (or more european) complexion than people of my country, even when I was living in europe. The Genghis Kahn led Yuan Dynasty is the reason why there are so many mixed race people in Russia and parts of the world. A lot of Mongol men took foreign wives for the first time in history forming interracial marriages. Chinese/Mongol rule allowed open growth of conquest and adopting of mixed race children to rule as the Mongols were hiding towards East Europe to try to conquer it. Mongol children of mixed Asian ancestry with White, Middle Eastern, Indian, and all other ethnicities were formed when Kahn's Horde was stopped in East Europe. Those mixed Asian children would later form the Golden Khanate and then migrate back to Yuan Dynasty. Once Yuan Dynasty fell; a lot of the Mongol descendant would later flee towards East Russia to hide in the mountain steppes near the Russian/Korean/Chinese border because Ming Dynasty rule wanted revenge for the Mongol rule. That is probably how a lot of Yakutian people came about since the Yuan Dynasty already assimilated a lot of Russian people; then once Yuan Dynasty fell then those mix-race children would flee the Ming Dynasty towards the more harsher parts of Asia.

I am originally Bangladeshi, was born in Moscow and lived in Moscow till 2009. Growing up the most important reason to look good was to express respect for people we meet during the day. I comb my hair, do make up, put on fresh clothes and polished shoes to express one thought: “ I respect your attention and I am ready to communicate with you with full attention and commitment.” There’s way more about respect for our surroundings then a competition for just looking nice.
I think a nicely ironed outfit and some light makeup to brighten the face can do wonders and if someone wants to do more then, of course, they should be free to do so, but if the _expected_ standard becomes spending 3 hours just to step out the door... I feel like that's just impractical and stressful. Based on the photos I've seen you'd think every woman is walking around in high heels, club outfits and full glam makeup just to buy milk which seems kind of ridiculous, so I'm curious if this is actually representatve of the average woman, or if these videos are perhaps using extreme examples to make their point?

The understanding of beauty in your culture is very holistic and way healthier than the obsession with external appearance that is so prevalent in urban cultures worldwide. Actually there are several groups in western contemporary culture that support your views and also consider too much emphasis in appearance (e.g. fashionable clothes and make-up) to be distasteful. You are already lovely in your openness, simplicity and transparency and your natural appearance is exquisite without the need of any artificial enhancement (i.e. make up)

But now everything is very mixed up regarding the territories. Anywhere in Russia you can see any type of appearance that comes historically from different regions. And also a lot of people from mixed interethnic marriages who consider themselves Russians. In many ways, the reason is that the Russian language has almost not retained dialects and is integral. And "being Russian" is not about the original DNA, it's about language and culture.

The more I learn about Russia the more I feel like it’s an underrated country. We the other parts of the world is now talking about ethnic equality and stuff, when it’s already super normal with Russians to not assume any person to be different from themselves when they look differently as they’re so used to that in their own country. I hang out with Russians rather often these days and whenever I was introduced to a new Russian friend, they always thought I was one of them as well despite my Asian face. Often a woman would come in and I'd think "WOW, what a fantastically attractive woman" Then after speaking to her for a minute or so and learning her attitude and behaviour my impression of her physical beauty dropped from a 10 to a 4. The first beauty standard about China is now illegal but it still was a beauty standard in China for hundreds of years, no one practices foot binding anymore thankfully and the only people you’d see with bounded feet are 95+ grandmas, just saying for those who think it’s still in practice in this modern age lol.

It's similar to Latin American beauty standards regarding the fact that the more european features somebody has(White skin, tall stature, clear eyes, etc.) the more beautiful that person is perceived to be. I know in India it's a similar situation as well. I wonder if wherever there has been substantial Indo-European presence it's the same story.

I am a Han Chinese, and I have lived with Caucasian female inside dormitory too, neither Han Chinese nor Caucasian dare to talk about the fact that we don't like certain part of our body. According to the bible, the only way for us to reconcile with God is through Christ Jesus’s blood, and not through any works that we do or merits we accumulate, such as water baptism, attending church, or any good thing that we do. The following verses clearly support this.

Since i was little, people have always asked me whether I was russian or russian mix because i had fairer (or more european) complexion than people of my country, even when I was living in europe.
I wished people to get educated about existence of north-asian features that differs from what people stereotypically know as the Asian. Now it's happening.

The Genghis Kahn led Yuan Dynasty is the reason why there are so many mixed race people in Russia and parts of the world. A lot of Mongol men took foreign wives for the first time in history forming interracial marriages. Chinese/Mongol rule allowed open growth of conquest and adopting of mixed race children to rule as the Mongols were hiding towards East Europe to try to conquer it. Mongol children of mixed Asian ancestry with White, Middle Eastern, Indian, and all other ethnicities were formed when Kahn's Horde was stopped in East Europe. Those mixed Asian children would later form the Golden Khanate and then migrate back to Yuan Dynasty. Once Yuan Dynasty fell; a lot of the Mongol descendant would later flee towards East Russia to hide in the mountain steppes near the Russian/Korean/Chinese border because Ming Dynasty rule wanted revenge for the Mongol rule. That is probably how a lot of Yakutian people came about since the Yuan Dynasty already assimilated a lot of Russian people; then once Yuan Dynasty fell then those mix-race children would flee the Ming Dynasty towards the more harsher parts of Asia.

I am originally Bangladeshi, was born in Moscow and lived in Moscow till 2009. Growing up the most important reason to look good was to express respect for people we meet during the day. I comb my hair, do make up, put on fresh clothes and polished shoes to express one thought: “ I respect your attention and I am ready to communicate with you with full attention and commitment.”
There’s way more about respect for our surroundings then a competition for just looking nice.

I think a nicely ironed outfit and some light makeup to brighten the face can do wonders and if someone wants to do more then, of course, they should be free to do so, but if the _expected_ standard becomes spending 3 hours just to step out the door... I feel like that's just impractical and stressful. Based on the photos I've seen you'd think every woman is walking around in high heels, club outfits and full glam makeup just to buy milk which seems kind of ridiculous, so I'm curious if this is actually representatve of the average woman, or if these videos are perhaps using extreme examples to make their point?

The understanding of beauty in your culture is very holistic and way healthier than the obsession with external appearance that is so prevalent in urban cultures worldwide. Actually there are several groups in western contemporary culture that support your views and also consider too much emphasis in appearance (e.g. fashionable clothes and make-up) to be distasteful. You are already lovely in your openness, simplicity and transparency and your natural appearance is exquisite without the need of any artificial enhancement (i.e. make up)
It takes a lot of self confidence to speak so honestly about yourself. I hope my daughter grows up to be similar!

Hello from Russia! Rus Vikings 😊really were, but this is true only for the north-west of Russia, where there was a strong influence of Scandinavia. This type of appearance has survived to this day. But now everything is very mixed up regarding the territories.
Anywhere in Russia you can see any type of appearance that comes historically from different regions. And also a lot of people from mixed interethnic marriages who consider themselves Russians.
In many ways, the reason is that the Russian language has almost not retained dialects and is integral. And "being Russian" is not about the original DNA, it's about language and culture.

Yeah, Michael is right. It's difficult to define only by your appearance. As for tatarians sometimes look like as blonde and blue-eyed guys, Russians can be brunettes or shateen, even red haired. People are so different in Russia, and most of them a beautiful because of appearance and personal characters, friendly to other nations. Of course they are against any wars, also devide ordinary people from politics.
Our country began to grow with the Vikings. Starting point. There were peoples who were dangerous for us (Turks, for example). They took our people into slavery. I had to fight back. People always want what they don’t have or can’t look like. Here in Sweden, for example, girls want to have darker skin because that feels exotic. I think that people should try to feel proud of themselves and where they come from.

The more I learn about Russia the more I feel like it’s an underrated country.
We the other parts of the world is now talking about ethnic equality and stuff, when it’s already super normal with Russians to not assume any person to be different from themselves when they look differently as they’re so used to that in their own country.
I hang out with Russians rather often these days and whenever I was introduced to a new Russian friend, they always thought I was one of them as well despite my Asian face. And no matter who or what you are, they care for you as if you’re their family🥰

I was in a business that catered strictly to women. Often a woman would come in and I'd think "WOW, what a fantastically attractive woman" Then after speaking to her for a minute or so and learning her attitude and behaviour my impression of her physical beauty dropped from a 10 to a 4. Funny how someone's personality actually affects how our eyes perceive their exterior appearance.

The first beauty standard about China is now illegal but it still was a beauty standard in China for hundreds of years, no one practices foot binding anymore thankfully and the only people you’d see with bounded feet are 95+ grandmas, just saying for those who think it’s still in practice in this modern age lol.

@@deioped only middle class and higher did the foot bindig stuff. poorer girls absolutely did not bind their feet because it wasn't practical unless they were raised to be a ladies inner chambermaid (no yardwork or heavy lifting). a lot of historical records are written and kept by rich people, so you won't see much evidence of what poor people did, but it was basically impossible to do farmwork for example if you had your feet bound.
@@modkhi Nope, poor girls 100% had their feet bound. In the north it was close to 90% of all girls who had their feet bound. In the south it was in the 60s if I remember correctly. We know this because a lot of the women who survived from that era were poor (there were more of them) and we have photo evidence.

The standards you described, I think they are specific to some high class Moscow society, not the Russia I know. I dont believe in beauty standards either. I think any rational person would have different standards for different ethnicities and be able to appreciate their unique features.

It's similar to Latin American beauty standards regarding the fact that the more european features somebody has(White skin, tall stature, clear eyes, etc.) the more beautiful that person is perceived to be. I know in India it's a similar situation as well.
I wonder if wherever there has been substantial Indo-European presence it's the same story.
Colonization is what gave origin to white supremacist ideas. Since Europeans invaded many continents this problem is present in many parts of the world. The case of all the American countries is very serious because those people are brainwashed to believe that genocide and population replacement of the indigenous people is normal. They are complete white-worshipers.
Indigenous Russian ladies are absolutely beautiful as are First Nations Indigenous from North America. As you say beauty is found in your spirit, spoken words & approach to life.

I think you have a really strong heart to handle the different beauty standards and accept that you don't like certain part of your body. I am a Han Chinese, and I have lived with Caucasian female inside dormitory too, neither Han Chinese nor Caucasian dare to talk about the fact that we don't like certain part of our body.
