I worked on many of those back in the '70s and '80s. One of the best little saws ever made. I still have a top handle and a rear handle that only has 1 hour on it! My hour lol.

Usually with fuel lines I cut them to a 45 degree angle with a tail and slide them in and pull them through on the other side with long nose angle pliers.

That Saw was made back when small engines were simple to work on not a bad looking for it being nearly 50 years old

I think it is the safety so you can't pull the throttle without pushing it down.

I took 5 screws out but cover won't come off it seems something is still attached by throttle ?
make sure the on/off switch is in the off position, as it can get in the way.
That is not proper warming up that saw
The cheap kits are junk, use oem only
