      Remember, you didn't put your patients into the positions that you find them in.
      Don't stress out on your way to a call, it won't help anyone.
      Don't think about calls when you're at home.
      Cheers and Godspeed, we need more EMTs.

      Buy the book ahead of time and read it over. You don't necessarily have to learn everything ahead of time but you need to be able to recognize things in class from the book. Don't put yourself in a Position where you are seeing something for the first time in class. Helped me out a lot

    good lit for the price. i dont mind paying a bit extra for the one stop shop convenience to get a basic kit, or a simple refill kit.

    Great video, as always. That's a good kit. HALO chest seals are the best. I have used all the common chest seal brands, and the HALO sticks the best. Especially in places like Iraq and Afghanistan, where your patients are sweating, dirty, and its hot. HALO all the way!

    Because of this video i just made 5 trama kits and vacuum sealed. Not to be open unless there is blood or burns. This is not a boo boo kit. Thank you for the inspiration. Gave one to my neighbor already this morning. Trama kit can be used for both humans and dogs.these are meant to stay in the vehicle.

    I love your product reviews, thanks so much. I would like to request though, because I don't often see it in reviews , is discussion about expiration dates. How long is too long past, which will last longer past date, and the dates on the ones being received after ordering. (I once got a chest seal that only had 4 months left on it). Maybe a future discussion?

    Vacuum sealing is fine, but in the moment I don't want to have to dig out the tourniquet and then get it out of the wrapper.

    Upon initial glance I read “Breeding prevention kit”.
    I believe that is definitely something we need to bring to market and dispense in certain communities.

    If you are (for the first time) putting together a kit for your car or a personal kit. is there a rule of thumb for getting certain items as "Must Have" and other items that are "Nice to Have"? Also are all the items in a kit considered as need to replace if you use them or can you re use certain parts over and over (such as the scissors you mentioned having several uses before needing to be replaced)? How do you make a list or figure how to stock up. I see kits on the market and they usually have a gazilllion band-aid's and a tiny tube of some ointment. Not exactly what I think a first aid kit should be like or am I wrong? Any advise or words to follow would be great. Oh and If you can direct me to where to learn how to use all this stuff once you get it. Thank you,

    • @zimke2
      @zimke2 10 месяцев назад +1

      This is really dependent upon your use case - ask yourself what sort of problems do you need the kit to address? A personal first aid kit for a construction worker will be different than a car kit for a suburbanite.
      Once you have an idea of what kinds of problems you think the kit should be able to address, research and learn the how to treat those problems. That will inform what things you need to have on hand to perform those treatments or interventions. Knowledge of first aid is more important in most situations than the supplies in the kit, the supplies just make you more effective at solving problems.
      To get started learning first aid, I'd recommend asking your local fire or EMS department if they know of any CPR or Stop the Bleed classes coming up in the area. Those are important skills that you can learn fairly quickly, often for free. If you really want to dive in, consider taking an EMR class for certification.
      Hope this helps!

      @@zimke2 Holy smokes, I have no idea what I may come across. If we are talking the car kit. Anything could present itself from on the highway, local roads, parking lot. As for IFAK anything from personal cuts or stings/bits to someone in trouble with a cut to bleeding to??? Thank you sir for a very good and deep answer. I will have to check in with the Fire/EMS folks and see what they suggest. Thank you again for the thought provoking answer, Have a good week.

    What do you do with all the stuff you open?
    Just throw it away I assume?
    If you do,DO NOT even bring it up that things "might be getting hard to find" ...

    • @PrepMedic
      @PrepMedic  10 месяцев назад +4

      You probably shouldn’t assume anything.
      ALSO, even if I did throw these supplies away after I’m still “allowed” to say anything I want. I show people what is in these kits so they can make an informed decision and hopefully not need to open/waste their supplies.

    I don’t think writing the time on a tourniquet is important in an urban setting. You’ll most likely be inside a hospital in under 30min.

    • @PrepMedic

      I agree, I’ll be honest, I have never written the time on a TQ I applied. Sharpie still has uses though.

    Prevention is being careful.
    If you're breaking out the kit, it's a little too late to prevent it.
    Got to stop it.
