Get it as tight as you can use some small pliers. Next put another ziptie around the collar of where the knife clamp goes. With the clamp installed. Eventually in the stone holder there are 2 nylon bushing. Eventually they will wear out. To check a angle with the sharpener set up. Then just the stone holder all the way up. Check the angle at the bottom of the rod. If it doest match buy the same size self lubricating bronze bushings from Amazon for 5$ now your fine tuned and you can have have many years of use from your now fine tuned work sharp

Yes I believe the anvil will turn by pushing the knob on back. You do not have to remove and turn it each time.
