Rhino, AKA warframe's wrench. Can you get into a locked car with it? YES! Maybe a wrench is not the best tool, but it can get the job done. *breaks window
I find Health conversion a MUCH better variant than 2 extra Umbra slots (that makes dual umbra forma mandatory). It frees you a slot to fill anything you need, gives MUCH more armor and, because of iron skin - your health is never touched, so you just gain 3 stacks at the beginning of the mission and forget that stacking exists. This huge pile of extra armor gives you around 600 max energy with battery and around 21k Overguard from iron skin at base.
i'd imagine brozime mostly runs the umbral set for maximizing ability strength but yea, switching to health conversion and augur secrets in those slots is a very good budget option with upside if you prefer a larger iron skin

Not needed at all just put armor shards on him and use his charge mod for more armor. Bam massive oversized overguard without the bs.

And playing the mega overguard way is one of the most BORING ass ways you can play warframe, even Revenant is exciting to play in comparison XD

A lot of people are saying that the Umbral set is bad, but then turn around and recommend Health Conversion for more Overguard from Iron Skin, which seems to be missing the point of the first build. The point of the first build is to make Roar as powerful as possible. +77% Power Strength goes a long way doing that. Sure, you could drop down to Intensify, but then you'd have to make up the difference with Shards. On the other hand, if you use the Umbral set, you can combine that with the Shards for an even more powerful Roar.
Personally, I'd like to see these people who are saying that the Umbral set is bad put forth an actual Roar build, instead of changing it to an Iron Skin build like they all seem to be doing.
The visual of Rhino smashing a hexagon block into a square hole is something I didn’t know I didn’t know I wanted.
imo if you want funny iron skin number nowadays, jade eximus beam is a great way to scale iron skin during the 3s absorb window, that doesnt require any mod investment. you usually want to stand in it to let it deplete your iron skin, then recast during the tail end of the beam's duration. most i've gotten from that is ~1.9m iron skin which is vastly more than enough for most content. just gotta watch out for nullifying effects. you could even run some range and Reinforcing Stomp to heal back part of the iron skin since it's percentage-based

As for coda weapons, Caustacyst is a given, you put me on that with the Gauss Prime build refresh last year, and it's been great, but i'm also hoping there's some nice stuff with the Hema and Hirudo, I always loved sparring weapons and the best one is getting a modern endgame variant

I've been messing around with Health conversation instead of Umbral fiber. It gets me more armor, and you keep the orbs when your overguard is up. I sit at around 700 energy max with it, and i can run the charge augmet in place of umbral vitality as well. My build sacrifices a little strength and duration, but my buffs are still quite big and so is the overguard. I'd encourage you to mess around with it. Great build as always!
As far as coda weapons, I'm excited for the sporothrix on Mag. That'll be fun. Catalyst and synapse sound cool as well
It’s worth noting it’s not hard to get an okay amount of extra armor if you want more than 10k overguard. Armor shards and some arcanes make it easy if you want to cast his 2 a little less often. I use 3 tau armor shards with the umbral mods and I get 16k, which is a nice extra bit. A super efficient method is using Health Conversion, because Rhino keeps it up 99% of the time and it’s 1350 armor on 1 mod.
His making every weapon work is part of why I love Rhino (also I don't have PSF, and Rhino doesn't care, mostly). Run Trumna Prime on him, which is such a fun and cool weapon (with grenades, of a sort), and also feels like a very Rhino weapon. Also, Violence pisses me off so much sometimes I'll run a Panzer for viral priming and Silence instead of Nourish.
Rather than running umbral fiber + vitality you could just be running blue armor shards. Sure you have slightly less strength from umbral intensify but you get two essentially flex slots in the build, plus id imagine many people have a ton of blue shards sitting around.
The two free mod slots also just open up a ton of build options. Stretch + reinforcing stomp can be pretty nice for keeping a high absorbed skin, or lately I have been a big fan of boreal's hatred, it gives you a longer shield gate and some useful efficiency
One really fun helminth alternative to nourish is wrathful advance. This is because melee influence triple dips the roar buff, so melee influence + wrathful advance + true roar means basically any melee with a status chance becomes a nuke. Alternatively you could use shock + its augment for a similar role, especially since shock's elemental buff no longer combines with your weapon elementals
Agree 1000%. You don't need parasitic armor it's just over kill.
Easier option is to use the charge mod that gives you 50% armor per enemy hit.
Sporothrix my beloved, literally never got a chance to use it after finally finish getting it before coda ver was announced, just finished putting 5 forma in it like the week of the devstream

Yeah I still prefer the parasitic armor and ironclad charge meme build, I don't like having to spam iron skin, I play rhino to avoid doing stuff like that and shield gating.
you gotta try arcane truculance with reinforcing stomp. It turns stomp into a viral primer on top of its already stellar cc, and also helps maintain ironskin.

At 2:02 you can also replace Umbral Vitality with Augur Secrets.
Cold Elemental Ward from Chroma plus health conversion and some other armor stuff puts my single use of iron skin at like 35k. But that's about as far as I've gotten on him, I miss his true tank days when he felt unkillable.
Edit: Coda Hirudo is my most anticipated Coda weapon. I use the regular Hirudo now with a riven and it's super fun with Lavos & Inaros.
Man I hope they add a Coda Phage, I have a riven that with the right mods it actually can do some high end content (not top tier crazy ofc) but I was hoping for a coda variant to make the funni tentacle laser gun reborn.

Look into iron skin with omamori it drastically increases its longevity so you aren’t constantly having to worry about your overgate

I've been wondering what to do with Rhino. I spent years just bulking with his Iron Skin to just stroll througb missions that once mpre tanky frames came along, I just kept him for fashion and nostalgia. I guess it's time to shift to the buffer side of him.
Side note, Nautilus, wtf is that damage output? Everytime a new update comes out, I'm reminded how little I know about this game

i think the only coda weapon i really care about is the catabolyst tbh. not a big fan of the infested aesthetic so i’ll probably just get that gun (as long as it’s good)
I hope Coda weapons to be the new meta too because:
1. I do not like Incarnon and they are boring to farm.
2. I have rivens for each Coda weapons shown in devstream.
Really hoping the hirudo coda makes sparring weapons have a high level contender
I hoped Rhino would have gotten a few tweaks with his new skin, but it seems like DE thought he was strong enough even as just a vessel of Iron Skin and full strength Roar. His passive is still laughably bad and two of his 4 abilities aren’t very useful, I wish they would have updated or given some new zest to him even if it was just something simple, like a stacking armor bonus or something as a passive
I was looking for a reason to use arcane battery since i just maxed it from all the extra motes because of botb

Three umbra mods is a pretty bad choice of mods, imo, even if your main obj is just buffing. Not even for an iron skin build is optimal, unless you wanna do the rhino charge thing, which isn't that good, really.

The umbral mods might be the worst set up you can put on rhino. Health conversion gets you way more armor and normal intensify works just fine. If you use his augment reinforcing stomp with a positive range then your iron skin will never run out. Rhino is my go to for any high level mission like elite deep archimedia when i just want to chill and do big numbers with my guns. Also arcane guardian is a solid arcane to use to get a bit bigger initial iron skin as it plus health conversion plus molt augmented will give you 25k+ as base that scales with enemy damage. Arcane battery simply isnt worth the slot and youre better off swapping energy nexus for flow as with nourish youll never run out anyways.
Rhino still doesn't have a passive :(
Also sentinels still need a mod slot just to use their guns.

I've seen a Dystopia build where he did level cap disruption with Rhino and he I think around 10 billion overguard. Was very entertaining to watch 😀
A build I’ve been seeing more of is just “find high dmg enemy and take an attack after casting iron skin” to get a big number with ease. Have yet to try
