Great tips and advice. The blanket type I would put on my awning. Nice and flat and out of the way

I use my 120 Watt Foldable Solar Panel as a awning(12v), it has attachment points on it. I hook four to the camper side and two too adjustable poles.

Noonly do blankets scratch the bonnet, the heat generated damages the paint. I use them against the windscreen and know I have to replace them every couple of years as their life is finite.

Flexi panel life is shortened dramatically by being easily scratched and overheating when placed directly on a vehicles roof. I'd guess the same goes for solar blankets and some foldable panels.
Rigid glass with a decent air gap on roof racks/bars is the way to go... 😎🦘

I have some decent folding panels, which I like, but can always do with more capacity!
I just removed the solid renogy off my roof - the noise was too much for me!
Do you have a link for bare foot? I couldn't find them with a quick search...

Lets chat, might take the renogy off your hands. Updated the details in the description

Shaun. I spoke to the makers of the amorphous blankets sold by Redarc. They emphatically deny that their blankets can be damaged by heat buildup from laying on the ground. They went on to say their blankets will continue to work in temperature s of 80 degrees... which is considerably higher than what we can expect here.
I used the exact same blanket for two weeks continuously static camping in Rams over Christmas to power a 56lt Snomaster fridge and while the fridge didn’t perform as advertised it was not due to a lack of power from the amorphous solar blankets.
Your statement about the amorphous requirements towards the sun is not accurate... the amorphous panels by nature of their design do not have to be facing directly towards the sun... their cells gather the suns rays from multiple angles.
It’s not recommended to hang them from the side of the vehicle... the eyelets are there for pegging onto the floor.
I use mine extensively for the last three years and they’re performing as well today as they were from new!

Streaky, we are talking about blankets and the practicality of the blankets vs other options. You seem to be facing the same issue as I’m discussing. I see you are currently looking at options to build frames for your solar blankets. Why would you need to build collapsable frames brackets if you too find them slightly impractical.
The point of this film is to highlight the advantages and disadvantages of each physical shape and size of solar available. Viewers can choose what works best for them.

@@ExpeditionExtreme I’m building a frame to prevent kids running over my blankets while camped at the beach. Three times now the little brats have ran over them and kicked sand over them which reduces their efficiency.
The frames will also increase the efficiency but it’s not the sole purpose in building them.

@@streakychambers658 yes that is one of the main reasons for heats spot. Partial coverage of a cell. All will be covered in our technical solar show

@@ExpeditionExtreme the manufacturer of the Redarc amorphous blankets claim that this technology is not effected by heat spots. That may well be the case with photovoltaic and monocrystaline panels? I can share their emails.
