Also, funnily enough Damballah is among the greatest of the loa, which implies that the Voodoo God's power levels are indeed great. Also also, while Civvie only managed to translate Mambo Grande into "Big Mambo", in regards to Vodou a mambo is a priestess of the faith, derived from the old Fon word "nanbo" which apparently means "mother of magic". So if they used the term mambo correctly (part of me doubts that they did, but we'll roll with it), "Mambo Grande" probably translates more accurately to "High Priestess". Which all things considered is a pretty cool name for a magic weapon, since it also sounds like a Summon from an RPG. Or a Stand from JoJo. (many Stands in Part 3: Stardust Crusaders were named after cards from the Major Arcana, including High Priestess)

HOM is not a Doom bug but an effect caused by the way these games are rendered. The screen framebuffers are not cleared between frames, it just draws a new scene over the old one, and normal scenario assumes that the whole screen will be covered by the new scene, making clearing unnecessary, however when you're outside of the scene or there are gaps in the scene, you end up with patches of the old frame showing through the new one where nothing new was drawn, you may also get a flickering effect because of double or triple buffering, and cycling between chunks of multiple previous frames.
