0:18 Natalie, I have learned a lot of techniques from you. I have been playing bassoon since the beginning of March so our community rural orchestras will have a bassoon. I have played oboe for almost 50 years from elementary on. For years I have been principal oboe at 3 groups and only recently had another oboe join. I have switched to bassoon and am having the most fun I've ever had. I still play oboe and English horn in select groups but bassoon has been my favorite. My older sister has also played since elementary school. She doesn't live close enough to work together. Only by zoom.
My first concert is June 15th and I am performing Berceuse & Finale. Hey, go big starting out. I have amazed my fellow musicians with my ability. Boasting here but what the heck, I deserve it.
Thanks for the f#, c#, d# & g# tips. I may hit you up on lessons over the summer.

Yeah! I'm not a bassoonist, but a trumpet player and I've recently come to love scheduling my practice out. I find that for me personally, I don't like to plan exactly when I practice, as I like to have flexibility between when I do what during my unscheduled time (sometimes I work out first, or practice first, or do hw first, depending on a bunch of things) but planning out how long I want to practice and what in specific I want to work on and for how long each week has done wonders for my consistency and focus so far. I don't always hit my goals exactly, sometimes things just happen, but it is far better than just being like "I should probably practice" and maybe doing it lol

Thank you very much for sharing this with the world.
I'm a cellist but will begin with the bassoon next week and your videos are really useful and wholesome!
    You're great!

Hello, what do you recommend to improve the sound? I have been playing the bassoon for 1 year and I feel that the notes sound empty, and when I listen to other bassoonists in person I hear that their notes sound more airy or sound full and more playful, while mine sound dry (with good tuning and sound but dry), what do you recommend to improve the sound?

is either the bassoon or the reed or like the way you put ur mouth around ur reed or the air support, if it is not you can just wait for her to make a new video!

@@KAKUMEi34 Thanks, maybe it could be for the Bassoon, I had the opportunity to play with a "MAESTRO" brand bassoon and it was horrible jajaja. But that's because the mechanisms are very uncomfortable and all the keys and holes were VERY far apart. But the good thing was that the Bassoon sounded full to me, it sounded good, maybe because of the Bassoon but I'm not sure😅

@@rexxy7198 in my experience, there’s an order to what the problem usually is. The order usually goes:
      1. Breathing/Posture
      2. Embouchure
      3. Reed
      4. Bocal
      5. Bassoon
I encourage you to find a teacher as they can see and hear things that you can’t and help you fix those issues

@@isaac-dz6ic ok, thanks. In my area there are no bassoonists who are professionals so to speak, that's why I'm asking around here 😅
