I can imagine how much techinical challenges they are facing with this one. It's not a small projects you have to understand that. I am a software developer and I do. They are doing good job. Star Citizen is expanding and developing all the time and they are keeping the players up to date and well informed about what's happening. I'm very pleased with that. It's going to take more than a year to get it done but the dev will be faster and faster all the time and the universe will keep expanding.
+Botheredhat360 COD's tried to rip off Star Citizen with Infinite Warfare. I mean, have you seen the ship they used? It almost shouts Origin Jumpworks.
Jesus, reading some of the letters is insane. They claim that farming will be a specialized field in and of itself. FARMING. You have to time it, take care of your plant, have the best food, etc. It's insane how complex they're getting. I'm getting a little worried about how incredibly small things like having a potato farm on your ship be so complex will take away from other stuff. Like we don't even have mining yet, and that's even more complex. 2017 deadline is looking a little unrealistic.
David Ralphsky Farming? Well then... .I feel like they are going to add bases because it makes sense due to us going to other planets and all. Maybe they're going to add some more planets. But i like the thought of farming because it shows that its a survival game and there might be hunger
xBluR Plays Nonono. Take the Caterpillar for example. It has something like ten sections in the main body. Those sections can be switched out for certain modules, like living module (beds, tables, etc), storage module (munitions, food, etc), farm module (growing food, recycling oxygen(?), etc) I can't remember all the different modules, but there were loads of them.
Gautier Bardon there are 4TB harddrives for 125~$ ... come on it's not 2007 or some shit XD there are already 8TB but they are expensive little bit 100gb is nothing especially when the game is out
***** same thing go with SSDs there are words around that there are 2TB SSDs coming soon and when star citizen is out they will be dirt cheap and maybe there will be 4TB SSDs 100gb is nothing and internet get faster and faster (at least in most countries) so it would take like what ? 3 hours to download it not that much honestly
+Gautier Bardon Yea no, that's not how it works. The game will likely be rather small in size. The universe is generated as you explore it. Look at Elite: Dangerous. A 1:1 scale of the milky way universe, yet the game is below 10GB. Because it's handled mostly server side.
+Red Crafter In the Hanger and in Arena Commander, 120FPS at Very High settings is what I get with two GTX 970's in SLI. in the baby Persistent Universe that just came out I get about 30FPS average.
+John Nator Probably not a stable 60fps if you plan on running 4k. I would imagine however that crossfire Fury X could handle 4k at a stable 60 but that's just a guess and it all depends on optimisation and so on. Havn't played the game with AMD cards yet. We'll probably see better performance as the game development progresses. If you head over to /r/pcmasterrace there might be someone there who has the R9 Fury X with a 4k monitor who can test it for you if you absolutely need to know :)
@@north_bornefully walkable planets, amazing detailed ships and environments, impressive flight mechanics, fps gameplay, persistent entity streaming, 100 player servers isn’t enough for you and only in alpha?
Imagine the day that a game developer will release a huge title that is 100% finished at release, that will never have DLC because it doesn't need it. That's what I hope for SC

Cameron Fischer No official "DLC" has been launched. DLC in the form of a pledge with other items that will be included or not included in the final release can be bought and downloaded. Again in the form of a pledge and or gamble in "pre-ordering" the game. That simple.

For those who are confused: "In-Engine" and "In-Game" is NOT the same thing. This footage is taken from "in-engine". All that means, is that it isn't pre-rendered in a 3D program, but rendered in the CryEngine (which Star Citizen is using) instead. It *does not* mean that: - the game will look like this - these models will be in the game - these types of gameplay features will be available It simply means that the trailer is made, using footage captured, using the CryEngine. Just a simple example is the guy standing on grass at the end: that won't be in the game (as far as we know). But it's captured using the game engine (CryEngine). Essentially this is no different than a pre-rendered CG trailer, like the World of Warcraft expansion trailers for example. The only difference is what software is used to make it. Don't get me wrong: a lot of this IS "in-game" footage. We know, because they've released, for instance, the dogfighting module, and we know it looks fairly much like this. But please don't think that your gaming experience will actually be like this trailer (and it is an AWESOME trailer, no doubt) - it wont.
Its not 100% correct. CR says its realtime rendered InEngine, that means its almost like the InGame graphic, because its already realtime rendered. Render quality levels are normaly like this: 3D Software>InEngine>InEngine Realtime>InGame.
neob Yes, of course it's realtime. Game Engines are specifically made to function in real-time. That detracts nothing from what I said, and has nothing to do with how it (can look) in-game, or if scenes are even part of the game. Again, "In-Engine" simply means that it was done using the game engine, nothing more.
Philip Zeplin No, you can render game assets with two different ways InEngine with the CryEngine, Cinematic: frame by frame or with lesser quality Realtime and this is Realtime.
Any cutscenes you see in here were rendered @ 4k then scaled down to 1080p to get the impression of proper AA and textures that will be in the full game. (All of the ship trailers are made this way). A majority of the footage here was all real-time and in-game though, including the FPS, Planetside and Dog Fighting video. The only pre-rendered footage was in the first half with the ship trailers, and the end scene on the planet. There's very little quality difference between them outside of Anti-Aliasing (since they were both made in-engine regardless)
June 2020: Pretty much the only things from the clips used in this trailer that haven't already been added to the game: - Realtime reflections (as on the helmets) - Body dragging (Coming in a few weeks, though) - The Aegis Redeemer - Shockwaves affecting character rigs, either by animation or by physics - Functional escape pods Other than that, the scale and variety of exploration, player interaction, and combat are all part of the game as it now exists. It's been such a long road, but Start Citizen has lived up to the glory of the original vision, and there's so much more to come.
Sorry but for 300 millions and cca 7 years of development spent I would expect more than few fetch missions, 3 empty planets, 2 cities with like 5 visitable buildings and a giant pile of bugs that basicaly makes the game unplayable
@@pigozz They didn't get 300 mil in just. 1 sec, they progressed to that mark. Remeber GTA 5? It had a budget of 265 mil or something, they had it instantly whereas CiG got it in chunks therefore the development is also being done in chunks.

I watched this trailer in 2014, was in middle school. Didn’t have a good enough computer to run it... Fast Forward to 2019. 5 years later. Built myself a PC, got the game. But I’m just sad that there are very little things to do still.

As With squadron 42’s assets and Sandbox the file size already exceeds that of Cuberpunks 38GB’s The existing playable assets are 40GB’s. And they’re not even done with 1 star system. Just enjoy the ride effectively.

phantom feenix it does but it's paid for by the subscribers. The videos are considered marketing. They are going very cheap but it's not nothing. Not to mention that they may spend a bit on marketing when the game is closer to done.
Lmao! Yea ok... Like I expected some great things but I don't see any console companies making something like this for decades. This shit is pushing my $1000 rig in alpha, I don't want to imagine consoles that are competing with steam box computers for $300
This launches in 2014 and gets me excited. 2023, it manages to look even BETTER than the trailer and its not even finished yet! I believe in Star Citizen even more now than I did then
What is certain is that we will all be close to retirement by being optimistic. The real question is whether Chris Roberts will live long enough to finish the project, if he ever intends to finish it.
@@Yanpac man, I was reading 6 year old comments and people buying pc to play this. And it is still 5 to 6 years before it will be released. What a joke.

It's 2020 and I still come back to this. The game has evolved so far and got so good on the way but the nostalgia of this is just captivating, I will always love "Imagine".
This is honestly the most beautiful game trailer I have seen in the 25 years iv been a gamer. This really gets me, it really represents what we as gamers had to use our imagination to create through the limitations of technology. We have to imagine that soon, there will be no limitations. There will be Virtual reality. And together, finally, we will be in the place we all belong.
Easily the best video game trailer i have ever seen; hits all the right emotions so well. This is the game he's been wanting to make since privateer in the 90's. You can see Chris Roberts vision reaching the point to make a universe that will be everything he always wanted. I like being part of that dream, wherever it leads.
Star citizen ist now 6 years later on a stage that is soooo much better then 6 years before. The graphics look thousand times better in Star citizen now than in this cinematic trailer. The gameplay has improved and we are going further and further. I believe Star citizen will be the best game ever made. Can’t imagine how it will be in some years.
Developer, please take your time, don't messed this game up. Publisher, please don't f*ck this game up by some silly day one DLCs, micro transaction or whatever you guys scheming. Don't evolve this game like "Evolve".
Y- nZ Not to mention the insane amount of cash this kickstarted made, broke records the Guiness book of world records for highest crowd funded game ever and it still sits in the number 1 spot, and has far exceeded the original goal of $500,000 it is currently at over $82,013,257+...The bad news you need to purchase your ships with real cash, and if you want a good ship and there are a boat load of ships to choose from you could easily be paying $400+ bucks just for a lower end badass ship...And then you need to buy insurance apparently that is if you don't by a ship package before the release supposedly, and that cost cash too, I think you can buy 6months to 1 year insurances packs, and that cost real cash, and to top it all off you best buy that insurance because if you don't your precious hundred, or possibly $1000 ship gets pirated by space pirates or destroyed and your shit outta luck...This game looks amazing but the prices are ridiculous, unless you have tons of cash to spend then I'm sure it would be great. to bad for the average player. There is no monthly fee which is a plus, however that monthly fee will more than likly come in the form of insurance for ships, for those who don't invest beforehand. They also have unknown micro-transactions set up.
This just popped up in my feed again all these years later. Saying hi to everyone that lands here too. It's good to see you again, Space Cowboys. Maybe one day day we'll fly together... Maybe one day. I still have hope.
Right1994 I'm in the same boat, I don't remember telling them to take all my money but here I am with a couple of ships in the hangar and waiting on two concepts to get into the game (Vanguard and Hull B) I realize this makes me a pariah but I melted my Super Hornet. I wasn't having any fun. Press button watch Vanduul blow up then make a wildly wide drifting turn, rinse and repeat. I like the Gladius more, I'm just hoping my Vanguard goes into AC before Sq. 42 hits us.
The other day I landed on Yela, stepped out and it felt like the end of that trailer. 3 and a half years later and the vision is really starting to come together. We still need more time but you can really see this thing coming together. Such an awesome feeling
Ahhh, the year I purchased this game but never played beyond a day (where it was immediately uninstalled in anger) due to both not having a good PC and the game itself not being optimized. Now here in 2022 with a far better PC and the drop of 3.17 I've played for a week without any plans of uninstalling it!!! Can't believe I have actually come to like this game!
I want to work at Customer Service and be like “Have you tried restarting your weapon?”“Did you consider politely asking your AI shipping container to open?”
Imagine, 100 years later this game is turned virtual reality game... where players start off on Earth and explore the universe. Explore with your friends or family member...
It's been 4 years form the realeasing of this video. It's incredible to see how much the game has evolved in the way of becoming the greatest space sim ever seen. And what a journey it's been.... I hope it gets as great as it can get. I believe in this!
What? Is it really possible? A "cinematic trailer" crafted from real in-game footage!? No... Can't be! I like elite dangerous. Keeps me interested till SC is playable. But I can't wait to lose myself in a universe you can actually lose yourself in. Keep up the great work Cloud Imperium! Thanks for not rushing your product to market.
***** well, ok. It's still in-engine footage. Meaning the footage generated is from the game-engine code (whether parts of it WOULD actually be 'played' or not). Its still light years ahead of a cinematic trailer rendered in a cinematic 3D CGI Rendering engine that has nothing to do with the game itself. They have my respect.
***** Actually if you read the trailer info on the on the RSI news feed stuff more then 80% of this video is purely in game, we as the players may not have it but that is what is coming to the game also in engine is not that far from in game, you may not be able to do that stuff, but the graphics, physics, lighting, and models are all the same due to it being produced on a HEAVILY modified version of the cry engine. also barely any AAA game has a trailer with even any in engine shots (at least 50%) (BARELY) so yea
Dave Cruickshank in-engine and in-game are totally different things. Well, connected, but engines are always capable of much, MUCH more than the game actually delivers. Just look at Skyrim and it's mods
They may be different but this game is pushing the boundary because most of the things you saw in the trailer are in game. Maney not in arena commander but in production for the game And legally they have to say "in engine" because it's is not a 100% in game But close as heck
dylan winwood there's a rumor going around the Freelancer mod forums that the creators of the Freeworlds mod for Freelancer have plans to begin creating a Star Wars total conversion for SC as soon as it's released.
I haven't seen any vehement supporters of Star Citizen wanting it to be rushed. Those people denounced SC a while back as a scam, when the single player more story driven ED clone Chris was originally trying to get funding for became a Universe due to unprecedented support and so the entire scope changed. Now, they are predictably starting to change their tune again as the game materialises. I wouldn't take such an aggressive stance with the SC community, it's one of the most well-grounded I've seen. CR made his vision very clear, and that it would take as long as it takes, so we're pretty well prepared. In the meantime, we get to play it along the way, playing an evolving experience, giving feedback, and getting the most experience for when the game goes live. It might sound like I'm pulling this out of my ass, but I predict 90% of Star Citizen's at-launch player-base doesn't even know what Star Citizen is yet.
What's amazing about this video is that it was made 5 years ago suggesting us to "imagine" what was to come. It's 2020 and all we can do is still "imagine". See you in another 5 years then? xD
Hi, me again 3 years later. I still agree that we have a pretty much everything in here, but I lost a lot of faith in the project over the past few years. Very slow development and lack of in-game activities and progression. CitizenCon 2023 just happened and it's brought more of my optimism back. Now let's see what we see in the next "12 months or so"

But i like the thought of farming because it shows that its a survival game and there might be hunger
xBluR Plays Organic module or something like that, it's for your ship
David Ralphsky Thats pretty cool if i do say so. Is it a ship expansion or just a ship as a whole with a farm included?
xBluR Plays Nonono. Take the Caterpillar for example. It has something like ten sections in the main body. Those sections can be switched out for certain modules, like living module (beds, tables, etc), storage module (munitions, food, etc), farm module (growing food, recycling oxygen(?), etc)
I can't remember all the different modules, but there were loads of them.
This one hits hard after Citizencon 2953...
waiting this again, make me feel soo nostalgic. how with only few years. We have such a big graphic and gameplay jump
it felt overambitios in 2016... possible in 2020 and in reach in 2023
Imagine the size of the universe... The game will be sold on hard drives
Gautier Bardon there are 4TB harddrives for 125~$ ... come on it's not 2007 or some shit XD
there are already 8TB but they are expensive little bit
100gb is nothing especially when the game is out
***** same thing go with SSDs
there are words around that there are 2TB SSDs coming soon
and when star citizen is out they will be dirt cheap and maybe there will be 4TB SSDs
100gb is nothing
and internet get faster and faster (at least in most countries) so it would take like what ? 3 hours to download it
not that much honestly
+someone LOOOOOL i download at 380 Ko/s
RIP Gautier Bardon
+Gautier Bardon Yea no, that's not how it works. The game will likely be rather small in size. The universe is generated as you explore it. Look at Elite: Dangerous. A 1:1 scale of the milky way universe, yet the game is below 10GB. Because it's handled mostly server side.
I'm glad CIG grabbed this from the guy that did it originally a few months ago. It was that good. Seriously.
Haha, thank you very much for your kind and generous words! As the creator of that trailer, I really appreciate it :)

I cant wait for this game to eat my GTX 970 like its nothing.
+Red Crafter In the Hanger and in Arena Commander, 120FPS at Very High settings is what I get with two GTX 970's in SLI. in the baby Persistent Universe that just came out I get about 30FPS average.
+GreenGusTech I have a r9 fury x running 4k, how much do you think I get in the persistent universe?
I'm no sure to be honest, I just know how mine performs. However I would guess that you'd get either equal or better performance.
on very high settings, my gtx 770 runs it at 60 fps at 1080p
+John Nator Probably not a stable 60fps if you plan on running 4k. I would imagine however that crossfire Fury X could handle 4k at a stable 60 but that's just a guess and it all depends on optimisation and so on. Havn't played the game with AMD cards yet. We'll probably see better performance as the game development progresses.
If you head over to /r/pcmasterrace there might be someone there who has the R9 Fury X with a 4k monitor who can test it for you if you absolutely need to know :)
This trailer actually made me cry. Not many trailers do that. :')
I can barely hold it in too buddy

I can feel it too
even tho its not the world.

The music to this makes me cry it's so damn beautiful!

And yet it keeps on giving almost nothing.

Imagine the day that a game developer will release a huge title that is 100% finished at release, that will never have DLC because it doesn't need it. That's what I hope for SC
***** FML
***** no it doesn't
***** no , stop spreading wrong information about the game
these are NOT DLCs
these are ships to buy to extra support for the game (pledge)
what you need to start the game is 45$
you can have the ships by getting in game money
if you want to buy it with real life money it's extra supporting for the game since it's crowd funding game with no publishers
Cameron Fischer No official "DLC" has been launched. DLC in the form of a pledge with other items that will be included or not included in the final release can be bought and downloaded. Again in the form of a pledge and or gamble in "pre-ordering" the game. That simple.
Fallout 4. It'll have DLC but
It's gonna be new lands and campaigns like all the other ones

For those who are confused:
"In-Engine" and "In-Game" is NOT the same thing.
This footage is taken from "in-engine". All that means, is that it isn't pre-rendered in a 3D program, but rendered in the CryEngine (which Star Citizen is using) instead.
It *does not* mean that:
- the game will look like this
- these models will be in the game
- these types of gameplay features will be available
It simply means that the trailer is made, using footage captured, using the CryEngine.
Render quality levels are normaly like this:
3D Software>InEngine>InEngine Realtime>InGame.
neob Yes, of course it's realtime. Game Engines are specifically made to function in real-time.
That detracts nothing from what I said, and has nothing to do with how it (can look) in-game, or if scenes are even part of the game.
Again, "In-Engine" simply means that it was done using the game engine, nothing more.
Philip Zeplin
No, you can render game assets with two different ways InEngine with the CryEngine, Cinematic: frame by frame or with lesser quality Realtime and this is Realtime.
neob fair enough, you learn something new every day :)
That, however, still has nothing to do with what I said in my original comment here.
Lol. People are asking if this will be on Console. How cute
martin austin idk maybe the next gen could handle it. Seriously doubt that they’ll make a console version tho
it wont for a long time, not next gen either, since there making star citizen look better and better each update
it will never happen since robert said it is a pc exclusive
@@kingsman-ov2et even if the next next next gen console could handle it star citizen will have a new update to take advantage of the current PCs.
Even if that did happen that would be at least 10 years
June 2020: Pretty much the only things from the clips used in this trailer that haven't already been added to the game:
- Realtime reflections (as on the helmets)
- Body dragging (Coming in a few weeks, though)
- The Aegis Redeemer
- Shockwaves affecting character rigs, either by animation or by physics
- Functional escape pods
Other than that, the scale and variety of exploration, player interaction, and combat are all part of the game as it now exists.
Good news! body dragging is out! Shockwaves are being worked on!
@@pigozz They didn't get 300 mil in just. 1 sec, they progressed to that mark. Remeber GTA 5? It had a budget of 265 mil or something, they had it instantly whereas CiG got it in chunks therefore the development is also being done in chunks.

Now in your 30 years of being a gamer, what's the best trailer you've seen now?
It's been 8 years, yet to me this is still one of the best game trailers out there.
Easily the best video game trailer i have ever seen; hits all the right emotions so well. This is the game he's been wanting to make since privateer in the 90's. You can see Chris Roberts vision reaching the point to make a universe that will be everything he always wanted. I like being part of that dream, wherever it leads.
5 years later what's the best trailer you've seen now?
People used to say they wanted a new game.
Someday...people will say, "Star Citizen is THE game."
Long live Star Citizen
Teddy H inspirational
Star citizen ist now 6 years later on a stage that is soooo much better then 6 years before. The graphics look thousand times better in Star citizen now than in this cinematic trailer. The gameplay has improved and we are going further and further. I believe Star citizen will be the best game ever made. Can’t imagine how it will be in some years.
Developer, please take your time, don't messed this game up.
Publisher, please don't f*ck this game up by some silly day one DLCs, micro transaction or whatever you guys scheming. Don't evolve this game like "Evolve".
Y- nZ this game has no publisher.
Django Lowe Well in case they add one, lol.
This game is being funded by a crowdfunding campaign. So no publishers or any of that shit :)
Lecram Glad to hear that then.
I would really say "shut up and take my money" at this point... but I own a Super Hornet so I guess they already did c_O
Right1994 I'm in the same boat, I don't remember telling them to take all my money but here I am with a couple of ships in the hangar and waiting on two concepts to get into the game (Vanguard and Hull B)
I realize this makes me a pariah but I melted my Super Hornet. I wasn't having any fun. Press button watch Vanduul blow up then make a wildly wide drifting turn, rinse and repeat. I like the Gladius more, I'm just hoping my Vanguard goes into AC before Sq. 42 hits us.

well, ok.
***** Actually if you read the trailer info on the on the RSI news feed stuff more then 80% of this video is purely in game, we as the players may not have it but that is what is coming to the game
also in engine is not that far from in game, you may not be able to do that stuff, but the graphics, physics, lighting, and models are all the same due to it being produced on a HEAVILY modified version of the cry engine.
also barely any AAA game has a trailer with even any in engine shots (at least 50%) (BARELY) so yea
Dave Cruickshank
in-engine and in-game are totally different things. Well, connected, but engines are always capable of much, MUCH more than the game actually delivers. Just look at Skyrim and it's mods
They may be different but this game is pushing the boundary because most of the things you saw in the trailer are in game. Maney not in arena commander but in production for the game
And legally they have to say "in engine" because it's is not a 100% in game
But close as heck
PetersaberHD A lot of the footage is screen caps from playing. This is fan made.

dylan winwood Go home with ur shit.
Please take your time on this game as I would rather play a finished game than a
Buggy mess rushed by the fan base cry babies
This game has been in development for for over nearly 5 years.
It wont be rushed
well most games take 5+ years to make and an estimated 2020 release (the roadmap suggest beta in 2018-2019) they are making good time
4 years this month or so, Kickstarter began in 2012 and the first year was more or less building the company from scratch.

What's amazing about this video is that it was made 5 years ago suggesting us to "imagine" what was to come. It's 2020 and all we can do is still "imagine". See you in another 5 years then? xD
Honestly, watching this video, we have almost all of this already and even more coming. Plus it looks so much better!
