Off into the world young talented Michael went and went on to become an international renowned singer, actor, and entertainer. So glad to see he took his sense of humor along. It adds to his charm and endears him to his fans.
Words can not desribe the memories i have watching this been a fan for many years love changes everything my life changed listening to this awesome talent a gifted singer a credit to music and his fans loved him.then love him more now an awesome talent awesome man a gentleman
Soooo glad that you are so wrong Sir Andrew. People love seeing classical musicals after all these years and your works are now the poster children of that. I am relatively new to your plethora of works and am grateful to see "revivals" of JCSS, Dreamcoat and a quarter century of Phantom. I saw your 3-4 month AD "revival' tour in 1994 of Superstar that lasted 5 years and loved it. Keep it up! Oh yes and Michael, you nail it every time.
We definitely agree on that. I think that may be one reason why it wasn't as commercially successful as the others - there weren't really any likeable characters. But you're right, some of the tunes were fantastic. :)
Ironic how Webber talks about the public wanting new musicals because they're fed up of the revivals and old musicals, yet Les Mis had been running for 4 years at the time and it's in its 25th year non-stop as we speak haha.
Like you, I don't find any of the characters particularly sympathetic. However, while Alex fell in love with his cousin, he resisted the urge to act on that love. And he pointed a gun at Rose under emotional circumstances, and the gun went off after she threw something at him. I'm not defending him, but I don't feel that he would have *intentionally* pulled the trigger. I guess you and I just have different ideas about the play, and different ideas of what constitutes a psycopath. :)
No offense but Alex a "border-line psycopath"? Perhaps you should hear the entire recording, and not just "enough". :) You may not find the character particularly sympathetic, but psychopath is going a bit too far. :)

Why do they say he is lip-synching? Watch his throat vibrate. Would they have him lip-synch w/ a live orchestra? He is so so talented.

This was the beginning of 1989, the show opened in April of that year. Martin Guerre opened in 1996 and I think the clip is from 1996 too.

Picture is a bit distorted, look at Michael's wide shoulders! Still, at least it's in sync this time.
His dimples are murdering me. They’re almost enough to turn me bisexual.
