What's especially cool is the two lead dancers from their respective sides are good friends and choreographed this together, hence why the performance is so strong and such good energy.
Probably the best version of "Trading Taps" out of all the variations of Riverdance out there!! A must get for every Riverdance fan out there.....Riverdance-Live from New York (1996).
Will never forget how Coline Dunne had to learn the whole Riverdance in less than 24 hours since Michael Flatley's refusal to perform. This specific show will always be the most memorable. Colin Dunne seemed to have lighten the show up with some humor in my opinion.
This was from the 10th anniversary, and I am so fortunate to say that I just caught a 20th anniversary performance of this show. It was so amazing -- I AM STILL IN SHOCK!!
'coz if you have the DVD, you should know it traces the story of the Irish folk, including, the great famine, and the emigration to the US: so "trading taps" here embodies the US melting pot, african-american culture ("jazz" tap tance) , irish culture (music, dance/straight tap dance)
@sakuraXkimono That's part of what Riverdance is. It's not just about Irish culture, it's also the story of the Irish immigration to America. The African-American population was a big part of the Irish history in America (mainly because they were competing for jobs). Yeah sorry to spam you with some American history there. I just love this show to death.
@randomdrifter lol,you have no idea how painful it was to explain that part of the opening ceremonies to friends around the world. "You see, we have this thing called 'Canada Council,' and they give taxpayer money to fund ANYTHING, apparently."
can anyone tell me who was the lead male Irish Dancer ? I would love to know for personal reasons, he did something very lovely for my Mum 18 years ago . Thanks x
@randomdrifter I forgot everything about the opening ceremonies except for that horrible poet from the NWT who almost singlehandedly ruined the entire Olympics.
This is definitely how all of the world's problems should be solved: with a dance-off. It's so much more fun than wars.

Ah~ Bromance

I just received this from a friend and must say it was beautiful, I was totally enthralled by these gifted and talented young men. More please.
There are so many fantastic ways for the human body to make music!!! We can even use our feet! :D

I love how at the end the guy with short sleeves and vest pulls off a broken tap, now that's when you know you've done some dancing

I saw this once on Cable TV. I'm so glad to find it again !!!
So "Well Footed" as the Compliment Goes !!!
This is amazing to watch and the guys really ham up the performance as well rather than looking so serious. Definitely a "duel of the dance" :P
one of my favorites from Riverdance!
I just can't get sick of it. Too amazing.
This makes me more happy than words can explain.

i always manage to laugh everytime
i like how it's multicultural and how they share something instead of it just being traditional one cultural
I got to meet Colin Dunn (the "lead" male Irish dancer) once and he choreographed a reel for my dance class. He's a proper sweetie.

RIVERDANCE WAS JUST A KNOCKOUT.
Can anybody please please tell me the name of the piece of music used??
Racism, the musical... Why is there only two black guys, and what's with colour theme?
You are a complete idiot.. There I knocked the fucking chip off you liberal pablum spewing TROLL shoulder. Go away you narrow minded asshat.
I thought it was funny.. apparently you have no sense of hypocrisy, or humour.
@oatmealboy6 Come now, there must be good dancers somewhere in Canada.
Irish got this one.
Tony Stark has brother I see....
@AineHawkins That sucks, because Canada would lose every war we'd ever be in.
класс!
The main lead looks a bit like Tony Stark... >.
@randomdrifter I forgot everything about the opening ceremonies except for that horrible poet from the NWT who almost singlehandedly ruined the entire Olympics.
