Good to hear Metallica get on their feet. Really melodic, tramply, and groovy, three things that should not be in new Metallica, but I hope this is good and the album is the same.
This song is addicting....I find myself singing this song and air drumming. I also believe that this song is a great beginner drumming song. The drumming is so simple. Poor Lars.
Personally I think they should write material like the black album, I dont care if its classed as selling out or pop metal....all I know is its good and the production still sounds good 23 years on!
this sounds like the songs in Kill them all, the lyrics are not so deep but more based on being a huge mass marching and being part of something bigger. only Bad thing I can think off is freaking China Crash. now Lars even uses it even more.
YLCC23 Agree with that. I like the sound of the China Cymbal here and there on any song. But what Lars does is abusive. there is a lot of metallica songs that need the Ride to sound complete against the China Cymbal just makes them sound weird
My only negative thought is the vocals are too hard pressed. It is good to have the aggression Hetfield is trying to convey but it's no where near as good vocal wise as the demo. I personally reckon that yes, this is a demo but it still needs some work before it is up to standard. It's a good move to release new material to keep everyone speculating in regards to the music but also it gives us all a new insight to what their new album will sound. If this is new Metallica, I am keen. This has a very 'justice' style to it, the guitar riff is similar to some Kill 'Em All stuff which is showing that the roots are still followed. I am happy to hear something new, as much as I love all of their albums and music I really think this is a good way to go.
3801Catcher I do agree that the vocals on the Garage Demo version better. Also too the guitars are a bit thin. A bit more gain, and maybe an equalizer adjustment to the audio would help make this sound even better. great start though.
I really like the song, especially James' vocals, but it is off putting how that main riff starts off-time nearly every time it's introduced. The lack of a thick guitar sound to accompany it also make that part specifically sound really odd. Luckily it's just a demo. Even if it's a crappy demo it really means nothing for what the final product will be.
Sound quality could be better, bass drums could be more solid, but Hetfield vocals are pretty good, he kinda sucks in the demo. Song itself is great. So good one.
i think it's just fine. it's MetallicA.......how can it be bad? the people who don't like it are the true sell outs..."oh i don't like this new sound".....im going to listen to some new band, sound quality is fine. your ears and brain just suck!
The same crap as the demo version. How can one of the most famous rock\metal bands have such poor quality? I've heard dozens of young bands sounding much better than this in terms of recording and overall audio quality.
Music is subjective, but I'll tell you right now that the quality is in full quality, which is why the song sounds a bit weak. Old recordings were pretty bad quality, but they had a certain kind of essence behind it that really made songs sound bigger because of all the mixed frequencies. What you're looking for is lower quality recording, and not higher quality production.
I'm listening to the song right now, and the vocal quality is garbage on the song. The instruments are of decent recording quality, but it's the tone of the instruments that I think you're talking about and not the recording quality unfortunately.
Ryan Dixon Close minded, maybe.. But still this is lame. This is like they are doing this just because they have to. I don't know.. Every record has black sheeps and hopefully other songs are true metallica. Not this kinda bullshit. Or, this could be better, if they cut this to 3 min song. Too much everything.
Coming from a long time Metallica fan this shit blows I'm sorry. I'm not trying to start an argument or anything but Metallica just needs to retire with some dignity left. On the other hand Dave's band is kicking ass, I think Dave being kicked out of Metallica was the best thing that ever happened to thrash metal and nowadays I'm sure he agrees.
This guy wants to bring up Dave's singing which has actually gotten a lot better mind you. James on the other hand is in fact the one getting worse. And Drover could drum circles around Ulrich not to mention Chris could play circles around Kirk! Only decent member left in Tallica is Robert and I'm sure he's about sick of the shit. If it was another band I bet you my left nut Rob would have walked out ages ago! Hard to walk away from millions of dollars and I don't blame him.
Bearskickass976 Not as bad as Lulu lol, sure it was a collaboration but its still has Metallica's name on it. Looking at the past 10 years Megadeth have been far better, hopefully both Metallica's and Megadeth next albums kick ass.
Drover is fucking shit! He can't play any of Menza's fills, and he has no speed on the hi hat! He can't even do a fucking double bass quad! I'll admit, he's solid when it comes to holding the beat, but he is by far the most boring drummer i've ever seen.
Cant wait for the eighth pass version!
This is fucking awesome.
Love the vocals on this! 80's metallica are back
Vocals sound awesome here, really raw and aggressive!
Good to hear Metallica get on their feet.
Really melodic, tramply, and groovy, three things that should not be in new Metallica, but I hope this is good and the album is the same.
Canavar gibi albüm geliyor lan 😎
James in sesi efsane yine
James sounds great!!
I don't understand why people are bitching about. I am here to listen to Metallica. Regardless of "how good" the song sounds. I love it.
This song is addicting....I find myself singing this song and air drumming. I also believe that this song is a great beginner drumming song. The drumming is so simple. Poor Lars.
07:05 DAT RIFF...
Personally I think they should write material like the black album, I dont care if its classed as selling out or pop metal....all I know is its good and the production still sounds good 23 years on!
Cheers, thanks for the upload! Holy hell this sounds good!
4:34 reminds me of Seek & Destroy :D
Yeah James' vocals are cool but I prefer garage version as a whole. Lars' galloping at 1:26 was much better in previous version.
Cara, que venha o novo álbum do Metallica!
oo-rah! The first studio release!
this sounds like the songs in Kill them all, the lyrics are not so deep but more based on being a huge mass marching and being part of something bigger. only Bad thing I can think off is freaking China Crash. now Lars even uses it even more.
I really wish Lars would get rid of that stupid china cymbal and bring back his ride cymbal.
YLCC23 Agree with that. I like the sound of the China Cymbal here and there on any song. But what Lars does is abusive. there is a lot of metallica songs that need the Ride to sound complete against the China Cymbal just makes them sound weird
Lords of Thrash ! #metallica
Dem vocals!! :D
What the hell is first pass?
James Hetfield's vocals are sounding better than ever. The band is sounding good to me.
My only negative thought is the vocals are too hard pressed. It is good to have the aggression Hetfield is trying to convey but it's no where near as good vocal wise as the demo. I believe they are reading what we think and getting it as feedback from the fans. If that's the case, I think that's freaking awesome.
3801Catcher I do agree that the vocals on the Garage Demo version better. Also too the guitars are a bit thin. A bit more gain, and maybe an equalizer adjustment to the audio would help make this sound even better. great start though.
Finally Amazing Quality From Metallica... Not like Death Magnetic
cut it into a 5 minute song and its awesome !!
cut those next 5 minutes and it's the best thing they've ever done
arglbargl hahahaha
arglbargl +1000
phuk yes
4:45 to 6:00 doesn't send spine chills through everyone?
Repeat One! :)
I really like the song, especially James' vocals, but it is off putting how that main riff starts off-time nearly every time it's introduced. The lack of a thick guitar sound to accompany it also make that part specifically sound really odd.

Да ничо так!! Выше среднего)
I think the structure overall is better in this one.
Is it only supposed to be in one speaker only??
It's your gear.
WHERE IS FUCKING DRUM GALOP ON RIFF AFTER SOLO. WHY LARS?
I prefer my version from 4:15 onwards but then I am biased. Check it out:
Metallica Lords of Summer My Edited Version
Hey! THERE'S AUDIBLE BASS HERE. Baby steps, baby steps...
The guitar sounds really simmilar to Kill'Em All.
poor hetfield the voice sound like dave mustaine after a concert u.u I FUCKING LIKE IT :D IN MY FUCKING MP3 RICHT NOW!!!
i wished they would turn up the bass even more..
It seems there's more bass on this mix. But the vocals are better on the other one.
i prefer the first vocals .-.

Bu versiyon daha güzel...
Well, at least you can hear the bass
Sound quality could be better, bass drums could be more solid, but Hetfield vocals are pretty good, he kinda sucks in the demo. Song itself is great. So good one.
В Стиле магнетика
Why does everybody complain about Lars using a China? I think it would make the song not sound near as good if he used a ride.
if metallica shit a nice golden nugget people would still be unhappy they would be like it aint shiny enough
Well, at least it's not the clipping, shittydrumsound recording as with the latest two albums...
the demo is better
i think it's just fine. it's MetallicA.......how can it be bad? the people who don't like it are the true sell outs..."oh i don't like this new sound".....im going to listen to some new band, sound quality is fine. your ears and brain just suck!

***** sorry, but that's complete nonsense. Listen to Accept's Stalingrad, for example, if you want to know what is High quality, in my opinion.
I'm listening to the song right now, and the vocal quality is garbage on the song. The instruments are of decent recording quality, but it's the tone of the instruments that I think you're talking about and not the recording quality unfortunately.
metalupurazz1 according to Ultimate Guitar, "the updated studio version of the track is different from the demo version "
how is this Low Quality?!~
This, my friend, is One of a kind for today's Metal Music
Time for these guys to retire.
Why? They dont hav a reason. (Not trying 2 start anything) just my opinion 👊💀👊
....nah.. I'll stick old metallica.
It's ok, new Metallica isn't for everyone, like the closed minded types that want to hear the same thing over and over again :)
Ryan Dixon Close minded, maybe.. But still this is lame. This is like they are doing this just because they have to. I don't know.. okay, i know you don't want to argue, Dave cant sing anymore, and unlike James, Dave doesn't show any interest in getting better.
Dave's band is kicking ass? The only ass they're kicking is their own. Supercollider was fucking terrible.
This guy wants to bring up Dave's singing which has actually gotten a lot better mind you. James on the other hand is in fact the one getting worse. this version sucks. if you need me i'll be listening to the garage demo for the 109th time
Really poor and repetitive music. I like Metallica, but this song, nope.
