I can say that the Maison Antoine fries are the best... If we go, with my parents, to eat fries once in a while, we take the bus and go there cause they are soooo good. A sauce that I really like with fries is the Samurai sauce (made in Belgium), a bit spicy, but that's what I like in that sauce. God, I want good fries, but yeah, quarantine doesn't solve it😂
There are no French fries ... the history is that after the world war foreign military bought Frites but as they didn't understand the language they thought they were originally from France ... so the Belgian ones are still the best
It's not that they did not understand the language, it's that they found them in Wallonia, where they speak French, and mistook the place for being France.
Nope, they are just called French Fries because of the way you cut the potatoes, called in cuisine (kitchen) the frenching technique. It's 100 percent Belgian.
Mayonaise is the only way. Belgian mayonaise has a bit more acidity. Ketchup completely blows away the taste of any good food. If you put ketchup on something, the 'something' tastes like ketchup. But that is just my Dutch opinion.
@@b.f.6254 Yeah, I mean like some countries (such as the UK for instance, as per my experience), don't even have mayonnaise as an option with fries, like wtf? lol. and some other countries have ketchup as a staple, but you need to pay extra for mayonnaise.. (such as Greece for instance). Now I know next time when travelling, to pack some mayo in case I need to eat abroad.
You guys are pros. Great presentation, great format, very helpful, for once it's not about you, it's about us, which is very refreshing. Bravo !! I'm guessing you must have some kind of background in this stuff.
Paul Sharpe 🙌🏼 Thanks! We both have a background in the travel industry and I (Rafael) come from a restaurant/food background as well. As far as the videos; we started from the bottom. No experience. It's been an interesting ride and one we've enjoyed sharing with the world!
hello ia, the affair of a trip to europe and eating may french fries. the richness of the mayo is french and frites in england is vinegar. the two taste test from you were (two of you) great. elle for cleaner fingers
You know, fries were invented in Belgium. Don’t know why they are called French fries. And I LOVE them with mayo! We were in Belgium for 8 days, and I ate frites EVERY day!
In most of the "Friet" places in Belgium they don't use animal fat anymore. Because... we don't like to die from a heart-attack off course. Not that it's something you'd die from immediately. But at the ratio we Belgians eat "friet" we would.
Why do you find it weird to put mayonaise on fries??? Btw if you go to frituren (frites shops idk) in other places its much cheaper AND did you know that every belgian village has at least one frituur in my village were only 8000 people live we have 5 frituren And please never call our fries french fries that's a insult just so you know not that you called it but yea SPREAD IT FURTHER NO MORE FRENCH FRIES REEEEEEEE
Ya it's really good... but we are like "Oh this is normal" untill we go in another country and say "Oh it's disgusting"... That was my reaction when I tested french fries from france
I will ALWAYS stand by Frites Flagey as the better of the two. I will never refuse Maison Antoine either however. While mayo is great, I'm a big fan of the curry ketchup and sauce Brazil.
I always feel Belgian Chips are better than British were they are like soggy and greasy,Were Belgian Frites are more crispy and chewy soft in the coating.
We have ordered fries 8 times in thailand since this video was posted and they all are subpar to just watching this video. Guess its time to go back to Europe.
Finding the best fries in Brussels testing 2 places only ? There must be at least 100 frituren/friteries in Brussels, not counting the Kebab snackbars. Vegan ? One frituur owner told me that if a customer would want something vegetarian or vegan there was always the patch of grass on the other side of the street.
Waw I'm Belgian, and now stuck in quarantine, seeing you eating fries... God I miss my frituur 😭
🤤
They are open in my village at the coast, as long as you can order from the outside they can stay open. I'm sorry to hear. :(
@@KiffJRockka in tielt zijn ze ook nog open dus meer obesitas vo mij

if frites were french, there would be frietkoten all over france and there are not, there woulkd be a frietmuseum in paris, there is not
As a Belgian, I really don't understand why foreigners (except perhaps the Dutch) don't like mayo on their fries..

Why did you guys not visit other places like Ypers just curious because there are way nicer places in flanders and the walloon region than Bruxelles
We were working with limited time and I have a really good friend in Brussels that we were visiting 😉
@@IntAffair that sounds fair enough its just that other cities have more to do obout our history and shaping of Belgium than Brussels

hello , the mayo is free right with small or large fries is a new charge - guess for two people a lg is better. elle for mayonaise
Now we have to find frites in thailand!. Your video gave the wife a serious craving. Why only two stands in the review?

Int Affair good to know 😌
Yeah exept the word french fries comes from the word to french wich means to slices thinly 😉
Because when American's encounter anything that is not what they are used to at home they consider it 'weird'.
Indeed,We know it and everywhere in Belgium, but, they re in Brussels....
I always use animal fat to fry and lots of homemade mayonnaise, and been having them that way for more than 40 years.....in belgium,we rule baby
Must go Belgium

Samurai sauce is the best - but beware, it might be a bit too spicy if you'r not used with spicy.

If you add four or so more of the available sauces to Belgian Frtits - et voila! Canadian poutine.

You didn't try frites avec fromage in Belgium? Not possible. With mayonnaise is nothing compare to potato (fromage) sauce. Try please. 😂👑😁👍
