There is a powder one can add to paint, which I've used and it did work.

My parents smoked rather heavily back in the 50's-70's. After Mom had numerous heart attacks and strokes, they both quit. I even smoked for a while. After a small kitchen/utility room fire, and pros that came in to repair/paint....the paint would not "stick" to the walls, it would just run down the wall just like you described! They tried several different times over the years, but it never looked right. It was semi-gloss in the kitchen and that didn't help! My sis was able to use Kilz and that finally helped!

If you live in Concord and are dealing with odors and smells issues on the home there is a treatment that is available to neutralize the odors. Its called an odor mitigation service. All plants, animals, and people must be out of the home for the duration of the process. Once we have full access to the home a series of Chlorine Dioxide release points are set up in little stations around the house. This requires proper PPE equipment and containment to deploy so DO NOT try this process yourself without proper training and safety equipment. Once the stations are activated, the gas is released, and the install teams leaves the building with lock boxes being applied at all access points. After 24 hours, the install team will return with a chlorine dioxide meter to clear the house before anyone is allowed back into the domicile. The windows are opened up briefly to allow some fresh air in. What happens? The Chlorine dioxide treatment neutralizes all soil loads at the surface level eliminating the odors. This could be pet dander. Cat urine. Cooking odors, etc. etc. etc. The process will neutralize all smell and avoid having to spend money on expensive renovations as featured here. That way, you can allow the buyer to pick the colors and furnishings that they choose after closing. This also allows the seller to sell the home "AS IS" Without the extra drama. For more information on odor mitigations please don't hesitate to contact me directly for more information and deployment options.

I watched your video twice because I am exactly in this predicament of trying to de-nicotine de-cigarette tar of the home with my now deceased wife. Yes, you guess it. She smoked I didn't. Of all the valuable information you share I take notice you didn't talk about *** the ceiling *** which is another labor intensive nightmarish endeavor. Thank you.

This is so true. I like buying new cars and not someone else's because of their smoking addiction. The car dealership lies all the time about resales.

      Worst is doggy odor.
I bought a car that had a suspicious floral scent and in no time at all after that floral scent faded the putrid odor of doggy butt overwhelmed. Especially on hot humidity days.

My mom smoked in my grams house. I kept telling her to go outside. After my gram passed we cleared out the house and the walls were a light sky blue, the original color was behind the pictures and the exposed walls had a yellow tint, it was so gross. The realtor didn’t even mention the smoking. We did retexurized the walls and my mom didn’t smoke in it after that but I feel like she was lucky that no one complained about it after.

Great tips - some additional thoughts (e.g., KILZ) I didn't consider when I listed a smoker's house in 2007 as the market was crashing! Also have had to deal with cat smells that I didn't notice until the furnace kicked in at an open house!!

I quit smoking four years ago. Saving $4,000 a year and my house doesn't stink anymore. Before I got into real estate, I did insurance repair jobs for smoke, fire, and water damage. Everything you say to rip out, we ripped out (additionally plaster and lath torn out and just started with fresh drywall in a lot of areas). The smoke gets on that lath and there's really nothing you can do with it. Not many of that left, though.

If you family moved out of the home. The seller needs to do the repair to put the home in the market. If not and its sell as it is and no future. Can the seller have a opt for staging the home and staging a home is costly but it works

I bought a smokers house. you wouldn't believe the tar on Every surface. the first thing i did was rip up the carpet.

  • @AmandaHugandKiss411
    @AmandaHugandKiss411 День назад

This goes for landloards renting out suites that had pets, dogs, cats, birds, rabbits.
Dandruff can get so inbedded into the carpet, that when you rip them out, you would swear there's talcum powder underneath. Dandruff and hair gets into everything, the heating ducts, air vents, and ceilinging, including full top to bottom of closets (and their ceilings). Under baseboards and on and on.
As for your smaller pets. Many eat seeds, Timothy hay (which will send me to the ER), and other grains and grasses. Many people have allergies to these items.
But no, let's always talk about the degenerate smokers.
I am not going to play the addiction card.
But there are people out there with severe allergies to pets and their food.
Then there's the piss. Getting cat or dog pee out of carpets but hardwood flooring or linoleum flooring is next to impossible. And that laminate flooring is the worst as it is a floating surface, animal urine gets under that, you pretty much have to rip it out.
And then there's the dogs and cats that pee on the walls or behind appliances. A male can angle with great skill to ensure owners who are nose blind don't realize that their males have been scent marking the spaces on the walls behind appliances.
And the marvelous people who say smokers can go out to the balcony. Yeah, well there's pet owners, who use pee pads (or lie that they do) and have their dogs peeing and pooping on balconies.
But no, its those filthy degenerate smokers.
Yeah well as I walk down my halls I can smell if you have a dog or a cat or both, especially when its hot and humid.
And yes the excess smell of urine is a health risk.
These are just regular apartments, not townhouses that have decks and patios.
I live in Canada, it is illegal to smoke cigarettes pretty much anywhere outside and illegal in a rental unit.
But Marijuana is legal outside execpt in school yards and in your rental unit. People are allergic to pot too.

Sell it to another smoker. I rented a townhouse years ago that had been heavily smoked in. They covered up the smell with cleaning chemicals, bleach, and other stuff and when I asked about why the chemical smell was so strong they just said we do a thorough cleaning job. I asked about smoking and they lied and told me no it was not a smoker. The chemical smell wore off inabout 3 weeks and it was so freaking obvious that the place had been smoked in heavily that I went to my next door neighbor and asked her and she admitted yes that person was a smoker. I tried to get out of the lease but the company would not budge. Sad to say but we live in a world of dirt bags now and it's pretty much every man for himself. Your best defense against the world of garbage humans is accumulating massive amounts of money and hiring an army of lawyers and accountants to keep a buffer between you and the skanks.

This is absolutely shameless. It should be illegal to sell a house that has been smoked in for years without disclosing it. We got conned like this by a realtor with no ethics.. they did minor works so we wouldn’t notice the house had been smoked in and it cost us thousands and years to fix the odor which came back after we moved in. Not to mention the health issues we didn’t sign up for from living in a house where the insulation is filled with cancerous tar. People who do this should be in jail and you should be ashamed of posting this as a realtor.

@@user-ye6on6cz9y I have purchased one. Carpets looked new for 30 years old but they smelled. Wallpaper replaced. Wood sanded and restained and refinished. Furniture replaced. Paneling covered with new drywall. KILZ and amonia and new drapes. New kitchen floors. KILZ again. Ozone machine. Vacuum ductwork. New air filters. The list goes on…. But it CAN be done. And worth a try to save a house worth saving.
