- It's Christmas in July! This video features the Lionel Legacy Polar Express, inspired by the film.
The model seen in this video is the scale version that Lionel produced in 2017. I ordered this when it was released as this was a “built-to-order” model.

Whilst I still love how well made the 1225 is made, there's still a part of me that ants to see a version 100% loyal to how the movie engine looked, headlight embedded in the smokebox door and all.
I have made one with Lionel’s ho version of the polar express that’s true to the polar express no feed water heater Baldwin 3 chime recessed headlight and no numbers on the cab

Hands down, the best Polar Express model I've ever seen, I love the hobo car, such a nice touch. I love the Polar Express movie was a favorite as a kid, so it's great to see it come to life in an O scale model and hearing lines from the movie coming out it. Great video.

Love the setup. The Christmas lights on the bridge really adds to it as well. Hoping that I can get my girlfriend and her 10 year old son onboard to do a Polar Express run this year. I'd REALLY like to do the one in Galveston but that may be a little too far for a day trip so may have to try Grapevine, Tx instead.
I must say, your Polar Express train and layout is the best experience to the actual movie! I really enjoyed all of this magical moment as I also love Christmas and this movie! Thanks for sharing!

The movie was magical but the book was fun too despite being a short story.
That was great. Even at my “advanced” age I still hold onto Christmas Spirit. We have a large home and each floor has at least one tree and a couple have two or more. We even put one on the back patio to be seen from the side street. Seeing the setup today and that beautiful train set kinda made me start thinking about what we will do this year. Oh and the red shirt, excellent. I know I’ve given you grief over the shirts but I have to say you are wearing them well. LOL. Again Chris, excellent video. Always love seeing them. You cannot have a proper Christmas without seeing the film at least once. As someone who owns two Legacy Berkshires (the Southern 2716 and the rare 115th anniversary Berkshire), I think you’ve got the best one. Will for sure keep my eyes out for this one next

Christmas in July, a concept that Hallmark seems to love as my mom watches the same movie plot around the clock lol.
I enjoyed this trip down memory lane of The Polar Express film and Lionel’s vision of the story come to life on layouts across the landscape. I only have the Lionel G scale version of The Polar Express for running under the Christmas tree and village, its actually what sparked my interest to get back into the hobby and I am working on a different layout for Christmas this year with my O scale trains.
Over 5,000 subscribers, Chris! I have to say, it’s probably the smile and your jaw line….. but all kidding aside, I am proud to say that I was here before 500 subs and I believe it is your genuine love for the hobby, your story telling and the way you make your audience feel inclusive in your layout….plus the hair, can’t forget the hair lol.

Whoa, just found this video, most excellent. I have the 10th Anniversary with all of the scale cars too. I love running this on my Christmas layout I keep up ALL year. Wow. I believe that the Scale Berkshire’s are some of the best Legacy locomotives Lionel has ever made. They are a perfect size and the sounds are incredible. My dad has the 2014 10th Anniversary locomotive and 6 of the scale passenger cars with black roofs, and I love running it every Christmas. Great review!

I have the 765 and the PE 1225 and they are 2 of the best engines in sound and performance. When stopping the creaking and moaning of the engine is just stellar.

Righteous train set, and a superb offering from Lionel for this bad boy. Thank you for the wonderful video. Great to see Lionel has come into the 21st century with proper animatronics (smoke, sound and better graphics). The LED enhancement to the train is a welcome addition.

Love this video Chris! The Polar Express is one of my favorites as well. I have the original 027 set that I run around the Christmas tree every year. I also own the scale Berkshire with passenger cars that I enjoy running at my Train Club’s layout during holiday open houses.
We got my Dad the O27 version for Christmas many years ago and it also goes around the tree. Thanks for sharing and have a great weekend!

Beautiful set and running session! Polar Express, Pere Marquette 1225 in particular is my favorite locomotive of all time! I remember wanting a Legacy Polar Express as kid, but the MTH 1225 in HO is as close as I'm gonna get haha! I would love to see Lionel release a completely movie accurate Polar Express. Sunken headlight, white lettering, etc. Anyways, another great video Chris! Excited for more to come!

Love it! Im a huge Christmas time fan and love the movie. I'm currently building my first ogauge layout and want to incorporate a Christmas scene. my last layout was On30 without a winter scene.my children always wanted a Christmas scene. Thanks for the inspiration.
Lionel and I go a long way back. My first one was in 1957. C&0 locomotive, and the Yard train with Tin cars made in Germany. My brother and I spent many nights sleeping on the couch, because dad set a table up in our bedroom for the trains, about 6 months before moving it to the garage.
But your set up, and collection makes mine pale to insignificance. 👍👍& 10⭐+ 💯😀 for the Lionel Lines.

My parents got me the original Lionel version when i was a kid for christmas. It was later stolen out of a storage area. Only thing that really bothered me about the storage being broken into.

Really nice set, and a great video Chris. My layout is all Christmas/ winter-themed, with Pol-Ex, Christmas Vacation, Elf movie, Frozen and more. The small "theater" room next to it is Always Christmas, with three trees, a full-size Santa and decor. My favorite time of year, and it's so relaxing when I'm in there.

1:22 🥰I love the book and film too!🥰 I have a polar express train as well, but it’s an RC/toy and I put it around the tree each year. Still love that lil thing all these years after I got it… I think it was 08 or 09 when first got surprised with it while watching the movie. Sweet memories❤

Great video! I am also very lucky to own the Scale Polar express. I believe it’s the same run as yours. It’s an absolutely beautiful engine, definitely one of my favorites. Too bad they are so rare now, hope Lionel rereleases it during the next Berkshire run!

The train from the movie is one of my favorite locomotives I wish I could have it as a gift with an ho scale rails to build my special layout.
My family got tired of me for watching this movie whenever I could. This alongside Thomas are the reasons I felt in love with the iron horse.

Great video! I have the original Lionel Scale model with the PM markings and the Polar Express version of the tender. It is crazy to hear all of the "movie" sounds in the Legacy version. In edition 1 the only movie sound was "This is the Polar Express. All Aboard."

Well done as usual Chris. Keeping the spirit of Christmas alive the whole year through. I admire your scale Polar Express set. I bought for my 3 sons the regular set back in 2005 when Lionel first produced it. I did purchase every add on car they offered every year thereafter, do now they have a huge set, along with the Polar Express diorama, the Hero Boys house, animals, etc. It really does make fir a nice set. Your scale set is beautiful though. Hopefully you’ll put together another video on it during the holidays again.

Man these new models are incredible! My old model has black roof and pegs you can place figures on top of but the interior is practically bare bones it's just silhouettes of people inside back lit and no led lighting on the front engine just an incandescent bulb and no voice dialog or sounds whatsoever besides a white tender that has a fan that blows air instead of actual sounds from the movie

Yup, the train was hella fun to ride, rails just appear for it and it's one you'll run to catch regardless of what your footwear is after I got home from riding it I ran through the snow and entered the front door, my parents were shocked because I didn't leave any footprints in the snow weirdly enough
Really cool video I do not have that high scale of The Polar Express train like you do I have the more affordable version LOL but I am still extremely happy with the product that I have it Sparks my imagination and keeps me uplifted in the Christmas spirit if I am ever lucky enough to upgrade to the other higher-end model that would be really awesome to we'll see what happens this Christmas👍👍
