- A film accurate model of the locomotive from Warner Bros.’ ‘The Polar Express’ has something I’ve wanted for years, and until Lionel decides to get right, I’ll be making my own! From the beginning to the end, here is how I built my model of the Polar Express!

She’s gorgeous, well done! I think it’s now time to make the coaches movie accurate, change the blue to a more navy blue, put the polar express lettering on the second to last coach exactly like in the movie, I think that’ll be a good idea.
For historical reference; the 1225,[N-1],was built by Lima,and your ATSF 2-8-4,yes,was built by Baldwin! Also the ATSF had Lima 2-8-4's,but those were ex-B&M,and the SP,also had a few!! So the history is a trifle more complex,and this is an extremely capsulated version! Thank you for the attention! Thank you 😇 😊!! Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!! Nice work!!

@@carstrainsandcrossings8639 Just like to keep the historical statements straight! I heartily dislike the movies,when they get mistakes,that are so obvious! Same applies to manufacturers who paint,or model equipment that never existed,or were prototypes that never made it,off the drawing board! If its marked as a fantasy,fine,but there were some real travesties over the years!Admittedly,there were,and are model railroads,that had many jokes built in,i.e.,the"Troll and Elfin",and some literally off the wall,April 1st jokes,like the Jello mine,that Model Railroader pulled off,and that would have been interesting in model form! Almost forgot,Walther's had a Jailbox model,for miscreant criminals! So there were,and are imaginations gone wild,and dreams realized,if only in N,Z,HO,OO,O,G,and all the narrow gauge equivalents,in many countries,by many active minds! To be honest, it looks right at home at high speed next to the L&N diesels. It’s beautiful, and you should feel proud.
This man single handedly did what lionel hasn’t been able to do for nearly 20 years- make a 100% screen accurate polar express. What i wouldnt do for a PE model like this. 👏👏👏👏👏👏

And so, with all these modifications made to the Polar Express (originally the 1225), it became "a really useful locomotive"!!!

By the way, those boxes you weren’t sure about at 4:28 are shrouds; behind them are the air compressors for the brakes. Some locos had them down there instead of mounted on the side (or on the smokebox, but that’s a different story).

Been years since I was in model railroading but belonged to a club with a modular layout in the late 80s early 90s.
Built the town of Hill Valley circa 1955 complete with a HO scale " modified " Delorean ( heavily modified HO scale BMW M1) with a few of the buildings either majorly kit bashed or scratch built.
Absolutely best thing was seeing people walking up admiring the details and such and seeing the realization dawn as they spotted the Delorean and then got laser focused on all the little details and Easter eggs like Doc Brown's Packard, Biff's Ford, the TARDIS in an alley or a phone booth with an odd antenna and Bill and Ted outside.
Fantastic modifications on an already superb HO locomotive!

1:38 he is actually very wrong it is based off Pere Marquette 1225 which is a Lima N-1 class 2-8-4 Berkshire

I watch the polar express movie a lot ever since I was a kid, I just love how they animate this film much greater for the train scene on the frozen lake it's such a masterpiece as a Train-Fan that had trains in movies what a great model you did for Christmas before the new year starts!.
P.s. for these days I don't know why People hated the polar express just because it is creepy? And said " The Polar Express is the Worst movie at all times 🤓 " I don't really see what's going on with there reviews to this movie I personally love the landscape soundtracks and the songs itself.

Excellent work on this custom and I'm greatful that you released these files for free use, I'll definitely be sure to get some prints of them.
While I intend for my model of the PE to be a bit closer to the real PM 1225 since I like my engines a bit more on the realistic side, I definitely think it'd be cool to make the parts interchangeable in a way so it could just as easily be a movie accurate version with the swap of a front end and smokebox door.
Now I'm getting far too many ideas for my own good lol

Finally! Someone modeled it correctly! Even though the berkshires are okay, it is still great to see the movie accurate version.
My jaw DROPPED when i heard the whistle sounds on this unit. This is the polar express i been wanting for YEARS😩👌 The accuracy is insane! Definitely building myself one someday🫡💯

This was awesome dude !!! I have been a railfan from when I was a wee child and The Polar Express was one of the first train movies I watched and it instantly became one of my most favourite movies ! The Animation, characters, sounds, stories, just oh so good ! Thanks for making a beautiful model of the loco. It was a nice and much required nostalgia hit.

Oh that was stunning and I know that it's not accurate to have Sierra number fives whistle on a Berkshire but I just love that they did that for the film it really gives it that feeling of big powerful locomotive and really seen it on your ho loco made me really happy. I myself have always wanted to do a diesel rendition of this locomotive I know Lionel did but I wanted to do like a custom scheme of my own of like the polar Express for a diesel loco
Lionel needs to freaking do this. I saw what sid's trains did to his o gauge one so i dont see why not they make one and not to mention next year will mark the 20th anniversary of the polar express. Amazing video by the way👍👍👍
