"The big movie of the summer" this is such an understatement, it's easily in the top 5 action films of all time, many people would say it's the best action movie ever made.
Yeah at this point, I think it's fair to say calling it the best action movie of all time is pretty damn justifiable. Hell, it's one of the best movies of all time, period.
"It's a monsta" man he wasn't kidding. it's almost an understatement, still my all time favorite action/ sci- fi movie. Edit: and it was way bigger than just the summer.. It was the biggest action movie EVER still!
Incredible how honest and right Arnold was since 1991, encouraging Americans to do sports and stay in shape three decades later, nobody listened to him 🤦♂
Great to see these “old school” interviews. I was 19 years old when T2 came out. Arnold looked so much leaner post-Olympia, post “Hercules Goes Bananas” days but he so parlayed his bodybuilding success masterfully into Hollywood and other successes in life. Letterman hung on to the ‘80s hairstyle into the early ‘90s. To think this was the same year Lee Haney and Dorian Yates went head-to-head at the Olympia in Orlando that fall. T2 was one of the best sequels ever!
Thanks for posting this! This was WAY past my bedtime when it originally aired. It was great to see Arnold at his Hollywood peak. T2 is one of my favorite movies.
I was 11 years old when T2 came out and I saw it twice in the theater that summer. The early 90s were seriously the best! A big part of me wishes I could go back to those times.
The man is the American dream, immigrant, body builder, movie star, govener, that is 3 full careers in one life, and seeded his seed into Camelot American dynastic dynasty, what a legend
This movie was so huge that they played it in the auditorium at our 800 person towns- town hall on opening weekend and the effects stand up today in most scenes and it is easily Cameron's best movie to date as well. Also Cameron is from my province in Canada about 400 km north of my 800 person town...Kapuskasing, Ontario. I told my buddy Joe that last year and he asked "how did we not know that then?"...I said "because the internet was not only not high speed Joe, in Temagami 1991 the internet was dial up on one singular aptiva PC in our public school and James probably told many he was from Toronto, Canada so Americans would possibly know where he was talking about". 😂
My parents took me to the movies to see it when I was 7 years old. To this day it is still my personal all time favorite sci-fi movie. Still holds up in 2025.
I was 6, so I had to wait a bunch of years to watch this masterpiece because "it was too violent and scary". Well, that's what my parents said... but they never found out that in 1993 my older cousin sneaked a VHS copy. It felt wonderful to break the rules for the first time, inside my restrictive home. My cousin is the best.
13:54 "Do you like Michael Palin?" "Yes. He's under control." Positively terrifying. If I'd been Palin watching that, I would've cancelled Letterman & flown back to London.
Saw Terminator 2 in theater with my cousin... but it was sold out.. so we got ticket for another movie and went to the Terminator 2 movie... watched the whole movie standing lmao, we weren't the only one with the same idea 😂
I just watched the movie again yesterday. It has aged to the point where it now seems very straightforward, without any gimicks. The camera simply shows what happens. The sense of space is far better handled then in most movies. A biker picks up a pool cue, the shot changed to show Arnold, the pool cue is entering the frame. A fight happens, it slowly moves through the space, it's all grounded. This is exceptional, but also movies have gotten really sloppy about this now. Nothing is anywhere, it's all disembodied like LotR and Star Wars prequels.
At first I thought I must be watching a copywritten video because I was expecting the interview to show a clip from T2, not Hercules in New York. Then I was like, wait a minute the quality of this video didn't change. It was then that I realized it was an intentional gag clip by Letterman. Lol.
Terminator 2: Judgment Day will forever be THE Greatest Film that Arnold has ever done in my book Better than the 1st and WAY better than the 3rd movie Arnold Schwarzenegger and Linda Hamilton had great chemistry in the 1st 2 films and the 6th Terminator Film called Dark Fate (even though Linda Hamilton shooting a Bazooka is badass) T2 grossed more than ½ billion dollars God Bless The Arnold and Linda and BTW, my favorite line from T2 "I need your clothes, your boots and your motorcycle" 😂
"Happy Marriage". Funny. Also, having a kid with the housekeeper. Sorry -- I love Arnold. The irony through the benefit of time drips heavy with some of these interviews
This America was already dumb in the very early 90`s.: I can't understand why audience starts laughing at Arnold when he starts talking about parents and children playing and practising sports together. And it was fub how David etterscrub was trying to stop Arnold when he was talking about the benefits of fish and chicken, probably screwing the ad David Letterscub was about to do of pork and cow meat in the next day
Arnold! America did not listen to the voice of encouragement and reason, look at the shape and the sad obesity direction the country has taken today, 100 times worse than in 1991.
"The big movie of the summer" this is such an understatement, it's easily in the top 5 action films of all time, many people would say it's the best action movie ever made.
Correct, it is the best action movie ever made
Yeah at this point, I think it's fair to say calling it the best action movie of all time is pretty damn justifiable. Hell, it's one of the best movies of all time, period.
Watched it 3 times in the cinemas at the time. The greatest action movie of all time.
The second it came out on DVD, I bought the movie, a new tv, and a kick ass sound system.
Saw T2 in the theater when I was a little boy with my grandma. Gem of a woman.. Still miss her 25 years later.
I’m sure she was. And I’m sure you do miss her. I miss my grandmother too. She would be 124 years old.
@@DavidThomas-me6pi lol she would be 124?
@@TerpeneProfile1 yep. She was born in 1899 in the west of Ireland.
@@DavidThomas-me6pi saying she would of been 124 is like saying she would of been 200. It’s very strange but funny, so thanks.
What an awesome grandma taking her grandson to Terminator 2!
I rented the video of this film and, as I had 24 hours to renturn it, I watched it 4 times in one day.
That's hilarious
I used to always make a copy of videos I rent on blockbuster. Didn't have to stress late fees then
"It's a monsta" man he wasn't kidding. it's almost an understatement, still my all time favorite action/ sci- fi movie. Edit: and it was way bigger than just the summer.. It was the biggest action movie EVER still!
Same still my favourite movie
With the perfect film score - masterpiece by Ziemmer
True.. this movie took him on world map
@@dadin22 Brad Fiedel wrote the score and won an Oscar.

What a masterpiece. What a man.
Numero Uno.

This reminds us that Arnold was the best action hero in films that there was and ever will be. Still a great actor even today.
Arnie seemed genuinely grateful and touched by that standing ovation when he was introduced.
I can not count how many times I have watched T2! It is my childhood movie! 👍
I like how humble Arnold is about the T2, he says the movie of the summer.... Actually it was the movie of the decade!
Till The Matrix
@@oskarfunes2505 LOVE the matrix film but I rank T2 higher
Funny enough t2 and matrix are of the same universe. Look into that. Boom!
no.. century
Obviously they didn’t know. You never know until it’s released
Loved this so confident relaxed back in the day as well with amazing sense of humour ❤️
Arnie is a legend!!! A great image of success and what a great sense of humour
7:55 - "Do you know Mr. Pastorelli?" "No, but I have seen him in movies." Five years later, they made Eraser together
I was 11 years old when T2 came out and I saw it twice in the theater that summer. The early 90s were seriously the best! A big part of me wishes I could go back to those times.
3:48 “special Olympics” had Dave laughing haha
T2 was and still is a monster.
Watched the original this morning. T2 seems like the next best thing to watch now lol. Love Arnold's movies.
it's a classic 👌
There are a lot of physically huge actors, Arnold stands out because he has personality.
The man is the American dream, immigrant, body builder, movie star, govener, that is 3 full careers in one life, and seeded his seed into Camelot American dynastic dynasty, what a legend
Was a senior at University in Miami when I saw this at the cinema. What great memories living in Miami

As a kid ('85 born) I watched this movie over and over again with my dad on DVD in the early 90s.
''The biggest movie of the summer'' was an understatement lol
Great to see David's hair in all it's splendor and glory as it should be
T2 was unbelievably awesome when I first saw it. Up there with my first Star Wars experience.
"The big movie of the summer" also known as "one of the greatest action movies of all time".
I did in fact see this movie in theatres 3 times.
Very appropriate!
Me, countless- Video VHS, VCD, DVD, BluRay and TVs. Theater twice. Whadayanoo

@@zulklifi6707 Oh me too. Still one of my favorite action/sci-fi movies ever.
Dave giving away that he’s a “good Terminator “…Arnold in his mind was like WTF…he rolled with it like a gentleman though
The second clip Letterman showed was actually Arnold arriving in the US for the first time!
Seems they genuinely enjoy each other!

T2 was a great movie I remember when it came out me and my brothers watched it I was 9 years old when it came out
7:15 The amazing voice of Don LaFontaine
Those not of this era, will not understand ARNOLD was as popular as The MCU in it's prime.
10:18 prophetic words 😁
I've watched this movie not 3 times, but 30.
Gotta go see T2 again now, once a month is good right?
Arnold took over the interview! He is so entertaining. Actually, he doesn't even need a host! Letterman could have taken a nap...
Ended up watching it around 40 times so far :)
I'm at 19
Shit I've probably seen it over 100
"Now I know where your nose came from" 🤣🤣🤣
Arnold got in the last jab.
He was already practicing being a politician
Arnold: I hope you will watch this movie 3 times
Letterman: Don't be greedy
Me: Have watched it alteast 30 times in last 4 decades.
Total recall was his best movie
Its gonna be a sad day when 80's and 90's action heroes are gone. Willis , Stallone , Van Dam , Lundgren , and Schwarzengger.
Love your YT name btw thumbs up 👍 and yes, the great action heroes are getting older, and Father Time does not forget anyone.

I came here after seeing Linda Hamiltons interview about the famous "Austrian Hug" and they cut to commercial when he is about to elborate damit!

T2 is one of the greatest action films of all time.
When I was in 6th grade around this very time I was so excited to get a presidential physical fitness badge. To me it was a huge accomplishment
