Resident Evil 4 features a completely new story and an innovative "over-the-shoulder" third person perspective that replaces the fixed camera system of the previous three Resident Evil games.
Special agent Leon Kennedy is on a mission to rescue Ashley Graham, the daughter of the U.S. President, from a sinister cult in a remote rural part of Europe. Leon must fight hordes of violent villagers and mutated monsters on his way to save her.
This run was done on the Japanese version, Biohazard 4, and finishes with an in-game time of 1:35:14.

0:40 the speed at which the cutscene is skipped makes it feel like Leon just instantly murdered an innocent man after barging into his home lmao
Well, he actually kind of did. He broke into unknown foreigners house without him knowing, talks to him in english expecting him to fully understand even though Leon's like in a small village in middle of Europe, he points a gun at him when the guy gets rightfully pissed at him, and to top it all off commits a felony by killing a random man for no reason and thinks he's in the right. Like what in the actual fuck was that cutscene
@@ales141 Leon, when told what he was doing inside the guy’s house, says "sorry to have bothered you" and moves to put the picture back in his pocket and leave.
Where then an axe is swung at his face. Leon then points a gun at him and rather than the man, you know, set the axe down or anything, continues to advance.
Oh, and you kinda forgot to mention that part where the guy’s friends run the police officer’s car off the road, kill them, and then take their bodies.
Leon literally would’ve just left had him not been forced to defend himself. Sure, he walked into a stranger’s home, but he didn’t threaten, he just asked a single question, presented a picture, and that’s it.

It never ceases to amaze me just how crazy the RNG has to be for a miracle like that to happen and to see it pulled off like that.

Man, love this TAS. I remember getting a little confused by speedrunners beating it live a minute or two faster, but then I remembered that this was the GC version, which was before they made things easier (yes, even with dynamic difficulty).
If I’m not mistaken the japanese and european GC versions already have a lot of the difficulty tweaks that were later present in the PS2/Wii/PC/HD ports.
that entire minecart section from 58:20 onward is brilliant
This game's level designs is so incredibly... varied, lol. You start out in that rather plausible, lived-in village, then there's swinging pendulum blades and a room full of lava in the castle.

I love speedruns of games that have all these horrifying characters that you end up just bulldozing through. These zombies thought they were going to infect and enslave the entire human race and Leon just comes in and obliterated their heads while he and the presidents daughter lightly jog right past the jobbers.
“LEON?? Did you find Ashley?!”
“What? Oh, yeah we’re already on the jet ski home.”
“And did you kill Sadl-“
“Yes yessss. Bazookas. The whole thing took about an hour and a half”

I haven't got to this part of the video yet, but if you talkin bout Ashley's puzzle, then that literaly took me days to figure out. I had to start a new file just to play some more while I still couldn't figure out that damn puzzle

RE4 but leons favorite show starts in 2 hours
I still love the fact they put one whole Regenerator in a prison cell (1:31:18), but also gave you a door to progress the game without any treachery behind it. And the Regenerator isn't even an issue if you're both left eye blind and deaf.
The Ashley playable part still reminds me of silent hill to this day!
it is just hilarious watching Leon run past all these carefully-arranged enemy ambushes and traps, going _"nooo thank youuu i'm busyyyy"_ just absolutely refusing to engage with the actual _game_ in any way whatsoever.

You can do a similar glitch in the Farm area with the cows and chickens. When you hop over the fence while hugging the wall there's a good chance you will clip through it. Walking around this clipped area you can find a pile of ammo and medicine.

I‘d assume that TAS tools will get someday so advanced that we‘ll get a steam TAS since a few major glitches only work on 60FPS versions.
