@@Phyllion- It's because their games are becoming increasingly easier and dumbed down. I call it "Zoomer Mainstream Effect". Ys Origin and Ys Felghana for example had actual challenging boss fights in the hardest difficulty.
@@TonyTonyRedgrave I wouldn't go so far as to say those ruined anything. I mean Ys 7 had flash guard and that game had some pretty stellar bosses in it. I just think it has a lot to do with them not having any real idea on where to take the bosses yet with this new system since you have so much more mobility now. I think if they gave bosses faster telegraphs, ditch flash move and just make it straight i-frames and made flash guard how it was in Ys 7 where you couldn't also dodge while doing it and whiffing it left you open to damage, that'd be a good first step to improvement.
@@TonyTonyRedgrave Nah, I don't think Flash dodge/block are the culprit. Plenty of good action games have basically the exact same mechanic. Bayonetta, Nier Automata, Breath of the Wild, etc... Perhaps it can be nerfed so that you can't just mash block inside of a hitbox to refill the gauge after flash blocking the first time.
Wish i had a ps4 damn not enough money to buy even switch. Let alone ps4. Although i'm backtracking i couldn't play in the right order nevertheless i saw with my console that even ys 1 and 2 is still awesome. falcom never fails.
Just buy a second hand PS4... Idk where you are but in Spain I can get PS4 cheaper than switch lol. Second hand PS4 in good condition people sell it for 150€ where switch gets instant bought when it's sold under 200€
Old comment but with the release of ps5 the ps4 base models are cheap as chips now. Here in NZ Switch consoles are about 500nzd where base or slim ps4s are about 250-300nzd
I have not plaid the game, but this does not play like older Ys. No dodging, no timing, seems like just button smash. If someone have plaid this, please let me know where the fun part is. Thanks

Why the "all boss video" of Ys VIII is like 2 hours and this one only 47 minutes ? Ys IX have less boss and less content than Ys VIII ?
I mean, considering they're beating each bosses in a matter of seconds. Might just be that you can become stupidly OP in IX compared to VIII
