I recall having my sisters take me to the grandpa stand on wheels he used to trudge along.. I was probably only around 3~4yrs old,, we called it 쪽짜 in Busan where I am from. 😅
People born in 80s~early 90s enjoyed the sugar cookie when they were students. That would remind their school days😂 And also if your journey is not over yet, I strongly recommend you to visit Majang. It's where Korean traditional beef market is. You can enjoy good quality Han-woo in cheap price compare to other places. Hope you enjoy your time in Korea.
There are hundreds of videos about traveling in South Korea. You should have watched them BEFORE you went there cause you're doing everything the hard way.

One would not have it already made but always sit around the making person and poke the thing with given niddles on the spot. If you succeed, you get one for free. Yay. The barbeque...oh dear you should have done some research before. The one you went to is for people who know very well how to enjoy it. There are procedures, combinations(pairings) for everything in Kbbq and youve missed all of it! lol You've probably finished the trip by now, but if you need help with anything I'll happily support.

Welcome to Korea. I am korean and 55 years old. The sugar cracking(?) of squid game drama is so popular when I was young, especially 1980 or so. Since the squig game has been popular in these days, that game revived.
Love watching this after visiting South Korea back in March. I also arrived stupidly late. My flight got delayed so I arrived about 1am (instead of 10pm). Had to take a taxi to my accommodation and it was about $130NZD. I got my tmoney at the airport and it was a 2in1 tmoney and simcard. Naver maps was a lifesaver and its so cool how it even has the recommend car to hop into on the train for the quickest exit or transfer. Myeongdong had so many cool foods in that street market but it was sooo pricey. You definitely made me regret not trying that marshmallow ice cream stick though. The hotteok's were my favourite. I ate way too many from different places during my trip. I also awkwardly carried a stick around for ages at one point. A small tip is that all the food stall have rubbish boxes so you take your rubbish back to where you got your food.

Regarding the snack you mentioned last time, in Korea, it’s called “Dalgona.” It was particularly popular in the past, especially until around 2010, and was a favorite treat among students. As time passed and other snacks emerged, its popularity decreased, but it remains a traditional Korean snack. 달고나(뽑기)는 1980년대와 1990년대에 특히 어린 아이들에게 인기가 많았던 일종의 과자? 였습니다. 그 시대(제가 어릴적)에는 달고나를 파는 상인들이 동네마다 꽤 많았습니다. 지금은 거의 사라졌지만..
달고나는 60년대이전에도 있었어요. 그리고 70연대중반이후 한참동안 사라졌다가 추억의 식품으로 80년대 어떤 길거리 상인이 퍼트리면서 다시 유행하기 시작했고 최근에는 오징어게임으로 완전 확대된거예요.

제대로 된 삼겹살집을 가야 하는데.. 단지 고기와 밥 뿐이라니.. 그리고 오징어 게임에 나오는 저 설탕과자는 옛날에 아이들이 먹던 추억의 과자지 요즘은 잘 안먹어요. 오징어 게임 덕분에 최근 판매가 증가하긴 했지만요.

요즘에는 오징어 게임 때문에 가끔 보이긴 하는데

Regarding the snack you mentioned last time, in Korea, it’s called “Dalgona.” It was particularly popular in the past, especially until around 2010, and was a favorite treat among students. As time passed and other snacks emerged, its popularity decreased, but it remains a traditional Korean snack. Many people likely became interested in it after watching *Squid Game*, so to add to that, all the games featured in *Squid Game* are ones that were popular in Korea. Thank you!

Thanks for the vid guys! Me and the husband are from Yorkshire and will be going to SK next October. He loves Japan ( we'll be on our 2nd visit this year in 3 weeks for the whole of December)...can i ask, is there much of a video gaming culture in SK? He is reluctantly coming to SK as i'm an avid Kcontent consumer...music, drama ( i have a Korean tutor and can speak enough to get by and read Hangul ok) ....i think my hubby will be bored, he's adament nowhere can be as awesome as Japan! 😂

Welcome to Korea :) Some corrections 6:35 yongdong->myeongdong, 12:25 at that restaurant, there is a salad-bar where customers can bring their own side dishes but you guys didnt know(you only ate rice and beef) so sad not to taste korea side dishes! if you have chance next time hope to taste all the things of korea well :)
