3:30 info : South Korea is officially still at war, and therefore, it is highly sensitive about information regarding military facilities. As a result, the South Korean government requested Google to either remove or blur military facilities on its maps. However, Google refused this request. Consequently, the South Korean government denied Google's request for detailed map data, and Google Maps remains limited in functionality within South Korea.

Hey, it's good to hear some British accent since I spent my youth there 15 years ago :)
'Dalgona' candy was a very common snack for kids until 1990s. One would not have it already made but always sit around the making person and poke the thing with given niddles on the spot. If you succeed, you get one for free. Yay.
The barbeque...oh dear you should have done some research before. The one you went to is for people who know very well how to enjoy it. There are procedures, combinations(pairings) for everything in Kbbq and youve missed all of it! lol

I am a Korean. In Korea, credit card is much more frequently used in daily life than cash. If you use samsung galaxy cell phone, 'samsung pay' is very convenient.

Welcome to Korea. I am korean and 55 years old. The sugar cracking(?) of squid game drama is so popular when I was young, especially 1980 or so. Since the squig game has been popular in these days, that game revived.

Love watching this after visiting South Korea back in March. I also arrived stupidly late. My flight got delayed so I arrived about 1am (instead of 10pm). Had to take a taxi to my accommodation and it was about $130NZD. I got my tmoney at the airport and it was a 2in1 tmoney and simcard.
Naver maps was a lifesaver and its so cool how it even has the recommend car to hop into on the train for the quickest exit or transfer.
Myeongdong had so many cool foods in that street market but it was sooo pricey. You definitely made me regret not trying that marshmallow ice cream stick though. The hotteok's were my favourite. I ate way too many from different places during my trip. I also awkwardly carried a stick around for ages at one point. A small tip is that all the food stall have rubbish boxes so you take your rubbish back to where you got your food.

Awww thank you so much! Oh wow that’s quite an expensive taxi but I guess it is quite far. Ahaha carrying the stick around that’s brilliant 😂 NAVER maps is definitely super important to have in Korea!

If you need any help, never hesitate asking help to Koreans. Although Koreans are not so good at English, but they can still communicate with simple English words and willingly help foreigners. Welcome to Korea and have a nice trip!

Regarding the snack you mentioned last time, in Korea, it’s called “Dalgona.” It was particularly popular in the past, especially until around 2010, and was a favorite treat among students. As time passed and other snacks emerged, its popularity decreased, but it remains a traditional Korean snack. Many people likely became interested in it after watching *Squid Game*, so to add to that, all the games featured in *Squid Game* are ones that were popular in Korea. Thank you!

Thanks for the vid guys! Me and the husband are from Yorkshire and will be going to SK next October. He loves Japan ( we'll be on our 2nd visit this year in 3 weeks for the whole of December)...can i ask, is there much of a video gaming culture in SK? He is reluctantly coming to SK as i'm an avid Kcontent consumer...music, drama ( i have a Korean tutor and can speak enough to get by and read Hangul ok) ....i think my hubby will be bored, he's adament nowhere can be as awesome as Japan! 😂

Dalgona is a kind of old school street snack made from melted sugar and baking soda. Popular in the 70s to 00s, If you cut out the pressed shape without breaking it, you’d often win another one for free! It’s a simple yet joyful treat that brings back warm memories of childhood in Korea. And yes! We actually eat them 😂
