It's amazing how important music is to memorable moments in film. Some hints of 'commando' and 'aliens' in it but very very effective. I think this film and soundtrack is underrated.
This soundtrack contains all the seeds for "Braveheart" and "Titanic" (and some themes are better here). It is, possibly, the most underrated work by James Horner.
@@vincenzoberetta1085 and this particular song has several seeds for Apollo 13, (although Horner was probably working on this score and Apollo 13's at the same time, seeing as the movies came out a year apart).
It's nice to hear a harp being used in a music score, alongside the use of a piano. Nowadays, music scores sound mundane and formulaic. I still do miss Horner.
@@DemonBoy3223 Yeah, back in the day each of the major movie composers had a signature style that you could recognize. Now it's all just generic, like it's produced through a software program.

@@mroctober3657 Yeah, Elfman really set the tone for Batman's music theme. But as the old saying goes, "to each their own". I am just happy to know Giacchino is doing it, I really LOVE his _War for the Planet of the Apes_ score, I was left deeply emotional from that, so I have faith in him. *;)* Speaking of _The Batman,_ I like that, from what it seems like, it will be more like a detective/serial killer thriller similar to _Se7en_ and _Chinatown,_ but I am waiting to see how Robert Pattinson will turn out in the title role, I do hope he's taking it as seriously as he should.

The undertones of the pan flute (traditional Latin American instrument) can be heard throughout the film. Also used in Commando.
Powerful, the build is SO stunning, one of Horner's greatest pieces !! He is SO missed.
5:11.
This music *made* the ambush scene in this movie!
Damn right!!
"Dan!"
When Harrison yells Dan and runs to protect his best friend.omg…
Or telling the driver, "Back up. Back up!"
Used to replay that musical cue over and over again
This tune is so intense, yet rhythmic.
I read all these books before they all became movies. I was that nerd on the bus.

This part of the song also plays in the Apollo 13 movie, in the re-entry scene, when the astronauts are returning to Earth.
I like the harp near the beginning. James Horner always made good use of that instrument.
