    Good video, solid info.
    Couple points: SM recommends new crush washers AND drain and fill bolts, as well as new oil pan bolts.
    For the oil pan, the four corner bolts are tightened in a "mostly" cross pattern - rear passenger side bolt first (this is bolt 1) > front driver side bolt second > rear driver side bolt third > front passenger side bolt fourth - then return to rear passenger side (bolt 1) and work left in a clockwise direction tightening each bolt. (Temporarily tighten the bolts, then Torque to 70 in-lb in the pattern described.)
    Procedure found in TM service manual, page tm-193 (2015 QX80)

    Thank you for this video! I've got a 2020 Armada and I tow a 3500lb overland trailer. I will definitely make sure to periodically do these flush and fills more often.

    very interesting that it took 5 spills to get it to that point. kind of ridiculous. I did a single spill and fill last night but I guess I’ll just start doing a monthly one. it already is shifting better though. 2017 Titan 136k and also mixed 2 quarts of Lucas with the Valvoline max atf

      For posterity, the service manual specifically states to drain the atf fluid until it starts to drip (occurs after a steady flow stops). Then reinsert the drain plug.
      If you leave the drain plug out for days, additional fluid will continue to drain out.

    Don’t you want the temperature thermometer to read 94° since it’s 10° lower. If it’s at 114°, wouldn’t the fluid be at 124°?

    Do you need a new crush washer on the drain only or on the fill plug too?
    Did you need any RTV to hold the pan gasket in place while you installed it?
    Thanks in advance.

    • @luso_overland
      @luso_overland  Год назад +1

      Correct- crush washer on drain bolt only and do not use any rtv on the oem or any metal style gasket.

    • @luso_overland
      @luso_overland  Год назад +1

      I would try it. It likely will help and only a very small chance that it makes the problem worse. Hold on to your old fluid, worst case, just put the old fluid back in.

      @@luso_overland Hey Luso, I think my transmission does great but I kind of feel the similar hesitation, 85k miles, and no info in terms of fluid changes in the past. You now make me worried about not changing it at all.. Do we use whatever in it and risk it for the rest of its life? Please advise because I was thinking we are able to change 1/3 of the entire fluid anyway and it should get used to little-by-little, increments of refreshing the fluid over the course of changing it like 3 times. I'm really lost rn. Also Mark, what did you end up doing? How is it doing now, miles, changing interval, sticking to matic S or aftermarket? Many thanks!
