Let me spin you a tale... one of great tragedy and sadness... there was a small black creature, trapped in a flask. It’s only companion was a slave, who gave blood to create the small black creature. The slave had no name, nor did the trapped talking mass, so they each gave each other a name. From then on, one was “the dwarf in a flask”, and the other was “Van Hohenheim”. The dwarf was sent to the king of Hohenheim’s country of Xerxes, and told him of a way to create an eternal life form. In this, people were sent to dig trenches around the country, linking them together in a circle. Around the same time, mass killings happened in five separate villages, leaving no survivors. On the eve of the fifth village attack, Hohenheim and the dwarf were seated near the king, who stood in a protective circle. As the ritual started, the king began feeling a cold feeling. His soul was leaving his body, and he could only ask why the dwarf deceived him. Turning to Hohenheim, the dwarf said, “you and I share common blood, and to this we are brothers. For you see Hohenheim, I am truly at the center of the circle”. And as he looked down, the judgmental eye of god stared upon him, and the sacrifices were created. It is this that Hohenheim then woke the next day, to a dead country, save for himself and one other. The dwarf, now under the name Homunculus, has created a body that resembled Hohenheim’s every feature. His voice, hair, skin, all the same. He stared towards Hohenheim and said, “I have given you the greatest gift of all, for giving me life. I have given you an eternal one!”. It was then the golden haired Hohenheim looked upon the empty roads, piled with soulless corpses. Xerxes died in one night, and Hohenheim was the only one who knew the truth. He spent his years wandering like a mad dog, in search of his next meal, and something new to learn.
