  • Follow me as I begin the process of taking this 1969 Mach 1 back to her former glory. In this video I start with replacing the heater core (non-AC) and heater core box. It wasn't an easy job but is definitely doable by the DIY mechanics out there.
More to come too! I've bought all pieces to completely redo the entire dash. In addition to that, I found some vintage period correct replacement seatbelts that I plan to restore myself. Also flirting with switching the Cleveland/C6 combo back to a Windsor/FMX combo....or just reviving the currents cosmetics. Not sure yet.
    More to come!

Nice work. I used "Charcoal Black Metallic" on my dash. NPD sells it in a rattle can.

Yeah, I think that’s what I’m supposed to use. Was that good enough to use by itself? I was reading you needed a black base coat with some of those Charcoal Black Metallic paints. Is the one you used item# AP-GPA?

@@thehobbymechanic47 actually it was a brand from CJ Pony Parts. It was rainbow industries brand. I'm sure its probably similar to the others. I needed to do multiple light coats since it was so thin. It also helped to preserve the texture.

Nice projects for your '69. We're restoring a 70 on our channel and just finished the full teardown before the next big steps start. Will sub to follow along on your work as you upgrade and refresh. Cheers!
