I just realized something interesting. We always hear the Sword Logic in reference to the Hive, but Savathun has spent the past however long using Bomb Logic. Her strength comes from setting up her deceptions and schemes, and then having everything fall into place. We have Xivu, who is basically an incarnation of the Sword Logic, and Savathun, Master of the Bomb Logic. I think we'll need to fight fire with water, then ward off a flood with the flames. (Face Savathun with overwhelming force - Destroy Xivu Arath with decisive cunning). It would make for an interesting dichotomy. I think Savathun is doing everything to destabilize our faith in anything.
The presence of these Hive Guardians will likely shake the Vanguard and the City to the core, especially those who zealously believe in the incorruptibility of the Light. And yet the Nine have told us: The Light and the Dark are not good or evil. Merely tools to be wielded by those who are good or evil. And the Traveler abandoned the Eliksni, rather than saving them, or bringing them with. But the fact that the Hive can wield the Light is going to call the morality of the Guardians into question. If something as evil as the Hive can use the Light, who's to say that the guardians that defend the City are not evil? The Darkness chose to let us have its power. The same entity that has sought the extinction of Humanity has given us its sword, Stasis. And if the Light can be wielded by the Hive, what if the Traveler isn't actually the side to back in this conflict? What if the Traveler is only interested in its own survival, and we are merely the peons that man the king's walls? If the dark breaks through the gate again, will the king stand with its subjects, or once again flee through the catacombs to find another kingdom?
All of these are questions that could drive a wedge between the City and the Tower. Between us and our allies. I think Savathun is waiting, just waiting for the perfect opportunity to take the reason we fight, the reason we exist, and crush us with a single question. Is our entire existence as Guardians a lie?

The lore has literally never stated that Lightbearers are morally infallible or even righteous. Ever since the Dark Age, it's been common knowledge that the Risen/ Lightbearers aren't inherently good and that the Light is simply a tool to be wielded.
Warlords slaughtered innocent people and yet their ghosts never left their side, if that doesn't tell you enough I don't how the "Hive Guardians" are supposed to bring about a grand new revelation.
The title of a "Guardian" tho isn't simply afforded to any and all lightbearers, it's reserved for those who wield the light to protect humanity and fight for the right cause, more or less aligned with the Vanguard.

Or did something else happen that forced it to make a final stand on Earth? We know it is benevolent in gifting species with life but we do not know if it will stay with us at the crucial moment in the story. In the Red War the Traveler finally woke up and now that it’s healed I can’t help but worry that it’s going to one day up and leave us. And if that happens does the Light remain within us guardians or will it take the light along with the ghosts?

I've had a disturbing thought recently. We know Calus was experimenting directly with the scorn using the Crown of Sorrow, and the events of the Glykon hint at the crown becoming a tool to control the scorn in the form of a hive mind. We secured the crown from the Glykon and basically gave the crown to Osiris who we now know was Savathûn in an Osiris costume.
This season we're contending with the forces of the Taken, the Hive, and the Scorn all working together for one master who we are led to believe is Xivu Arath.
What if, and bear in mind this could just very well be a tinfoil hat train of thought, what if this is all just another con from the Witch Queen herself? I believe she was telling us the truth when she told us that she wanted to be rid of her worm and that Xivu Arath is hunting her because of it, but what if she's been manipulating both sides in order to be rid of her worm once and for all? What if she got Xivu to attack her and hunt her while giving her sister the means to do so with the Crown of Sorrow in order to make her bargain with Queen Mara, who may very well be one of the only beings in the universe capable of freeing Savathûn from her worm, all the more believable?

    • @thunderspear2251

I personally believe that this is all just another plot by Savathun. She's plotting with Xivu Arath in order to gain our trust, and simultaneously granting both her and her sister increased power. Remember, EVERY TIME Savathun deceives someone, she gains strength and feeds her worm. Until she finds a solution, us believing that Xivu is after her should sustain her, if the crystal itself does not prevent the worm's hunger from killing her. And the main danger of this, is the fact that the Hive's tribute tree is already short another branch.
When we killed Oryx, all of the tribute that was going to him, is now likely divided among the two sisters. Now, what is going to happen if we kill Savathun in Witch Queen? ALL of the Hive's tribute now goes to the Hive God of War. Savathun has been lying circles around us for years, but she is no frontline combatant. Her strength lies in turning others against each other; and now that she's been revealed to us, we have begun to rally against her. Her days against us are numbered. I believe that her plan may be to weaken us by making us question the alliances we've made, and then she may plan to die by Xivu's hand. If she does, her power goes to Xivu via the Sword Logic, rather than to us.
This has gotten rather long but:
TL;DR - I believe Savathun is setting us up, teasing pieces into place for Xivu Arath to emerge from the background and slaughter us.

I hope Bungie reveals the fifth enemy faction revealed from D1. The fans refer to the Drakness’ army as “The Veiled”. I’ve had a theory that The Final Shape will reveal that the Traveler and the Pyramids are not faceless entities. But rather, the Gardner and Winnower. Two beings that have humanoid physical forms. But have never revealed themselves to any civilization they’ve visited because their power is too much for normal lifeforms. Except Guardians. That’s why I believe the Winnower and Gardner, both god-like, a cloaked man and women, stay inside their respective “chambers” to dampen their overwhelming paracausal powers. Instead, they delegate other lifeforms to play their flower game. Our Sol system may be the first time each physical entity may reveal their true humanoid form. Just a theory, but it would be a revelation that would change everything.

Which is why they didn't want to deny Auryx when they talked about giving and taking, because they didn't want to risk denying the anthem anathema and make it false. Akka "Denied the truth until the truth became a lie", so is it just that the lie was only said once and needed repeating to take effect?
Why would claiming "You have not the strength" to Auryx make them have said strength?
The book claims this to be a lie, though the book's written after the fact so depending on how Akka's powers work it could've been true at the time until that was said like the theory suggests. But if it were a lie, shouldn't it be a lie that makes itself true? Or is this some grammatical rules lawyering situation and Akka slipped up due to phrasing?
Or is it a reversed logic? By claiming "You don't have the strength" and that being true, that becomes a lie? a thought about Osiris (the real one) that i just had.
what if he's already dead, and has been since the start of the season?
like, we see from Savathûn's perspective that she inhabited Osiris' body, rather than use a substitute. so it's the body of Osiris walking around, and he can't control it, as we see in the new Bow, depressing lore and stuff.
when Savathûn starts to shapeshift into her Hive God form during the opening cutscene to the season, we don't see how it happens, but we hear like the cracking of bones and what sounds like body horror, whilst everyone watching is clearly horrified at the spectacle before them, possibly the Phoenix's body being turned inside out as Savathûn reveals herself to us.
Savathûn claims that Osiris is still alive, and for some reason everybody, even Mara Soc, believes her without question even when suspecting some type of betrayal down the road.
But why would Savathûn tell them this?
To make such a bargain when she would surely know that if/when we rid her of her worm, we'll try and kill her.
She's probably lying to us about Osiris' supposed captivity to have an advantage over us, giving us a reason to help her get what she wants, when in reality, she's doing all she's ever done. Lie.
And think, the people who'd be most affected by this would be Ikora and Saint.
This probably isn't true at all, and we'll most likely see Osiris return to us.
but it just has me uneasy that, even in her crystalline cocoon, Savathûn is being so seemingly open with us.

I'm sure this has been covered, but the lore entry for Nezarac's Sin is captivating when put into the perspective of the current season. It shows a duality of the "final god of pain", light and dark, and plays into the line with Savathun saying we should look up as we straddle the line between light and dark. Then in this lore video, you mentioned how "pain" made that ogre. That part may be a stretch, but it's definitely worth revisiting. Regardless, it's a badass lore entry that I wish Bungie would go further in explaining.

There's another figure that I think should be pointed out in more detail in regards to this topic: Calus. We have zero idea what he's up to or planning as we speak, he's currently one of the characters most intertwined with the Darkness and is subsequently being built up as someone we should really keep an eye on, because who knows what kind of terrifying power the Darkness might give him?
Personally, if he isn't relegated to a Seasonal villain during Year 5, I feel like he'll be the promoted antagonist of Lightfall (emphasis on "promoted"), potentially giving his Loyalists a Darkness power similar to what Eramis did with her followers, although likely not just little pieces of technology like House Salvation's use of Stasis, but something more... connected, for lack of a better term, and subsequently we obtain and wield that power against him, his Loyalists, and the forces of the Darkness pulling his strings. Heck, his "I'll be the last living thing when the universe ends" beliefs may get perverted by the Darkness into "I'll be the last living thing when the universe ends BECAUSE I'M GONNA KILL EVERYTHING ELSE" or something along those lines. It'd also make sense if he was the Seasonal villain in the prelude to Lightfall, but I think him being Lightfall's story/promoted antagonist would be more interesting to see.
Of course, this is all hypothetical and I wanted to go on a side tangent about where Calus may go next, but he's definitely someone we can't just ignore, it's clear he's being built up for something big in the future, although we obviously don't know exactly what yet.

I posted this in Myelin's video about this but it got ignored, but I feel like it has some significance. This is a copy of my first post:
"Are we just going to skip over the line you read from the lore entry "Now I may speak to the Deep, the beautiful FINAL SHAPE. I will be King of SHAPES. I will learn all the secrets of our Destiny."
Is this not just flat out giving away how this story is going to end? Our final confrontation in the light and dark saga is going to be with "The Darkness" whatever that may actually be. Not only that but the fact that the sentence ends with "I will learn all the secrets of our Destiny." What's the one major secret that we've been unable to find out since the start of Destiny? Who is/are the "Darkness" we only know the Minions, Followers or Worshippers.. not the real Darkness itself. Ponder on that for a while"

There’s Calus for what we know could have merged with the Darkness. He might be a darkness counterpart to Caiatl’s Red Legion. Along with that group of Psions that tried to crash the Almighty into the Last City and assassinate Zavala.
Then Eramis could still be alive even though she’s still frozen, so House Salvation would be a darkness counterpart to House Light.

One possibility is everything dead, the Darkness reigns supreme over a kingdom of vengeance. The other possibility, one I find more likely considering the name of the DLC, is that our guardian is the Final Shape. The darkness mentions us becoming the final shape at the end of Shadowkeep, so it’s entirely possible the Final Shape is us becoming ruler over both Light and Dark, which makes sense given how The Final Shape is the final DLC in the Light & Dark saga.

I'm a bit of a lore beginner so sorry if this is already known or has been disproved. But I almost get the sense that Oryx himself was Taken when he communed with the "Deep". The fact that he called himself "The Taken King" could be read as either he is king of the Taken, or a king that has been Taken. Maybe it's some silly wordplay, but I guess it's similar to if someone was called "The Mad King". The obvious meaning would be that they were a king who was mad, but could also be read as them being king of the mad.
I think it kinda fits with how the Taken enemies are described in the Grimoire. They're described from a point of view that doesn't seem to be Oryx's. Eris says that when a being is Taken it is "made final", which reminds me of how the Darkness goes on and on about the "final shape". Perhaps being Taken means that the Darkness changes a being into the most deadly, "final" form that it can be.
Perhaps this is what happened to Aurash. He communed with the Deep, and was Taken by it and transformed into his "final shape", which was Oryx, the King who has been Taken. Perhaps Oryx was never really in control of his own actions, just as it seems that the rest of the Taken are slaves to some higher beings will.
Sorry if this rambling seems dumb though.

I think it's almost safe to speculate that they are both working together. Osiris was attacked by one of Xivu's Kinghts and Sagira killed, but Savathûn possessed/inhabited him and manipulated the city. Obviously Savathûn would not be able to do that is Sagira was alive. Other theorists are linking the ahamkara egg, the tech witches, the 15th wish (which was made at the end of the raid IMO), with removing Savathûn's worm. What if Savathûn wants Riven (yeah, she's dead but ahamkara don't truly die completely). So far I am liking this season more than the others.
