They did a good job of hiding Mr. Spock's ears for this episode.
Mark David Hello 👋 you talking about 👂 then maybe you could check out Yul Brenner's ears take care February 2,2022
Oh yeah...
😄😄😄for sure! I said "hey, it's Mr Spock wo his ears."
I saw him being a scumbag in Bonanza once. What a shock!
Nimoy was strikingly handsome with or without his "ears."
Funny! 0:42
THEM is the best of all the giant bug 50s Sci-Fi as it takes itself seriously and did great giant ants! One of my early trilogy set of Sci-Fi greats.
It's not a crowded field...but you're right!
Interesting info...They actually only used two-yup-two huge ants to make that film...One was a complete mockup, full size, but was not mobile. The other, mobile ant, the one that got James Whitmore, was actually just the head of a huge ant, mounted on a camouflaged forklift!..Amazing how they managed to edit the action to make it seem like many more ants were moving around...Of course, when they burned out that nest, those smaller ants were puppets.
They used something like that in Blackadder the millennium show. I wonder how many times props were rebuilt bc nobody knew they existed?
Agreed last arness before Gunsmoke
@@dennisznaniecke490 Yes, Sci-Fi movie with Arness "The Thing" (1954) came right after "Them" (which was another good one
from back then).
This is one of my fav movies ever!!! I will watch it every chance I get until I die
Daniel Boone, Matt Dillon and Mr. Spock in one movie.
And Hitchcock's favorite actor Edmund Gwenn (he used him in eight movies).
@@classicalduck where is he in the film?
@@StoryMemories86 There's a father-daughter team of scientists. He's not the daughter.
@@classicalduck Good one..!! This was for all those who do not know what gender they are...!!
And the professor's daughter! Wow!
I didn't know Mr. Spock was in the movie "Them", Thanks for posting this, James :)
Damn, I must've seen this movie 100 times and never notice Nimoy.
That is most illogical.
@@haha-kq6rz I have the movie....and I never noticed either.🐜🐜🐜🐜🐜🐜😃
Make me a sergeant and give me the booze!😂😂😂
...and give me an ammo can of 30.06 to load into the Garand! I have to prove to Roddenberry that I can action with the best of 'em!
Betcha didn't know that James Arness was the monster in the 1951 movie "The Thing" and he's also older brother to Peter Graves of Mission Impossible. ;-)
Kewwwwwll!!
I knew.
Yes I know. Here’s anotherbnew discoverybforbyou: water is wet.
Betcha I did.
This is the scene that Walt Disney seen as Fess Parker was being interviewed in the nut house, he soon got cast as Davy Crockett.
As I heard the story Walt was watching the film because he was considering Arness to play Davy Crockett, but was more impressed by Parker. The rest is history.
It’s interesting how many bit parts some classic actors had in this film! Leonard Nimoy, Fess Parker, James Arness…
Arness didn't have a "bit part" at all. He was the main star! Along with James Whitmore and Edmund Gwen. And he did really well in his part too.
Excluding Arness, actors who had bit parts: William Schallert, Dub Taylor, John Beradino, Richard Deacon, Lawrence Dobkin
@@TWS-pd5dc Also:
Jan Merlin - one of the 3 costars of "The Rough Riders" western series of 1958-59
Ann Doran - a regular on both Shirley and National Velvet TV series.
Olin Howlin - who later played the old man who was the first victim of "The Blob: (1958)
I remember noticing that years ago as a big fan of wagon train. It was always on somewhere and over the years I saw a young "somebody" many times. Just cool I think.😀
@@TWS-pd5dc Samantha's husband from "Bewitched" is being interviewed at the police station with his friend by the look of it.
I was confused about the "flying saucer" stuff, until I realized he was talking about the queen ants' nuptial flight!
Hard to beat a classic so many great actors.
The first & the only GOOD giant insect movie made.
I saw many of these types of sci-fi films, as a kid in the 1950s...this one really is the best, as the dialogue and pacing of the movie really does move along, and it is fascinating to see the various character actors who went on to be TV stars...But I also loved Forbidden Planet, with incredibly sexy Ann Francis, and Robbie the Robot!...and This Island Earth was interesting.
@@curbozerboomer1773 By the way, James Arness (Gunsmoke's Matt Dillon) also played the monster in the movie "The Thing" (1951) and he's also Peter Graves (TV show Fury and original "Mission Impossible") brother!! ;-)
i have seen this movie so many times, i remember seeing it at the drive in theater in the 50's when my parents took us.
" Make me a Sargent, gimme the booze..." I still use that line when I want to act silly!
It's "Make me a Sargent in CHARGE of the booze!"

"Make me a Sargent 'n charge the booze"...
@@ronanzann4851 LOL....Was it "charge the booze"?....It's been a long time since I've watched
Me too. And "General!! I'll make a deal with ya."
we have used it too, memorable line.
Classic performance from Leonard Nimoy long before he became Spock 🖖 Live long and Prosper ,R I P 🙏😢
I like how everyone thinks of Parker as Daniel Boone instead of Davy Crockett LOL
Played both.
Flying saucers shaped like ants
Stellar cast!
Great flick , thats for sure.
Wow! I never knew Davy Crockett was in this movie! That's awesome!
This was actually the movie that got him the role.
It's always difficult to separate Hollywood legends from reality, but there is one story that Walt Disney was first considering James Arness to play Davy Crookett. Walt watched "Them!" to see Arness, but was so impressed with Fess Parker's brief appearance that he became the front runner for the role. At any rate, it all worked out in the end as Arness got to play Matt Dillon on "Gunsmoke" for about 20 years.
@@terrihenricks4160 Let's not forget that he was also the monster in "The Thing" (i1951) and the brother to Peter Graves of Mission Impossible. ;-)
Excellent film. First saw it on the after school special in the 60s.
Fascinating!
Amazing movie with popcorn and soda 🤣
and formic acid.
Back in the day when Leonard Nimoy was a Texas Good ol' Boy.
So many legends. Thanks for the clips.
I remember living in Brownsville, Texas in 1951 when I was about 4 years old. We lived in a small white clapboard house next to a large open field. That's where I first saw THEM too. I told my father so he bought me a bright red atomic water pistol for Christmas that could shoot clear across the living room. He said "Keep it loaded so you can protect your mother, sister and baby brother if they get too close and aim for their antenna". Then he decided to move to Corpus Christi to keep us safe or start a carpentry construction firm with his brothers. I forget which. Never saw THEM again until this movie came out but their nest looked a lot like LA.
'Them' a great flick of the 50's and would like to see the whole movie. Thanks for sharing.
Great movie!...so many actors that went on to strong TV careers. I believe that this was Nimoy's first film role.
Amazing that Matt Dillon looked so good after living so long.
Then went on decades later to make "Something about Mary"?
He didn't drink as much as Louie Pheeters.
@@kendallevans4079 That must be Marshall Dillon's son.
I guess some men never age too, not just women. Some it's just genes and some know what the girls know about looking good forever.
Fess does a great job. A movie with a wonderful cast and good script to boot.
My all time favorite movie next to the original The Day the Earth Stood Still.
The original 'The Day the Earth Stood Still' is a thing of great beauty, one of my all-time favourites, up there with 'Forbidden Planet'. 'Them' is also excellent.
With Keanu Reeves?
@@garyfrancis6193 No that is a remake. The original is in black and white.
Add Forbidden Planet 50s version, and you have my Trilogy!
Hey Paula, We think alike! As a kid growing up in the 50s and 60s, they were my favorites also. Along with the TV show The Invaders.
Nimoy did many things..He was stage actor. He had other series. He was painter.. In search of... Mission. He went back to stage after trek. He had albums.....
In 1975, as a teenager, I saw him in "SHerlock Holmes" at the Fisher theater in Detroit.
It was electrifying to be 100 feet from him. He was very convincing as Holmes, I loved how he played the violin as part of the character.
He also owned a movie theater in NYC the Thalia
Timeless classic, a fav of mine
Those actors sure do get around in different parts, but they all were talented in any role that was offered to them. 😊
Best movie, as a kid watched they army rope up with Dynamite , machine gun, and flame thrower. What fun in a Calvin and Hobbs way.
Make me a Sargent in charge of the booze! 🎵Make me a Sargent 🎶 give me the booze.🎶
Such a great movie thanks so much
I saw this in the movie theater when I was a kid. Saturday matinee and double feature.
"Superman" George Reeves in in this one too, in the radio room when the ants attack the ship.
They could have used Superman to stop the ANTS!
Master-class in RUclips content title.
Arness with his actual hair color. In the first few seasons of Gunsmoke he dyed it black, and after that brown.
I like finding these early Leonard roles.
Brought to you in *"SEA SICK"* vision!
Made in the days when Americans respected science.
Before science got co-opted by politics and big money.
Surprisingly a good movie.
And James Arness
Marshal Matt Dillon of Dodge City: GUNSMOKE!
The best video game ever made for the Commodore Amiga, "IT Came From the desert." 😂
Mr Spock and Daniel Boone!
Obviously, a time machine is involved in all this.
Fess Parker one of few men that could look James Arness straight in the eye not up
WILLIAM, PLEASE BRING US THE WHOLE MOVIE!!!!
Great movie from yesteryear!!s. By the way, James Arness (Gunsmoke's Matt Dillon) also played the monster in the movie "The Thing" (1951) and he's
also Peter Graves (TV show Fury and original "Mission Impossible") brother!! ;-)
Me encantaba Leonard Nimoy, junto con William Shatner.
Nimoy era un hombre muy instruído, inteligente. Cualidades que enamoran.
La misma aqui
Yes he did made me call in love with him!😍😍
I never noticed that was Leonard nimoy in that uncredited part
...great cast...future TV stars...
I want the "sunglasses" they used in this movie!
(Not shown in these clips.)
“Real T.S. stuff!”
at first glance, the thumbnail looked like the Honeymooners :)
Legendas em portugues, por favor, para que possamos entender suas palavras,
Forgot that Fess was in here and surprised I didn't see Leonard Nimoy.
Mr. Nimoy was a very good actor!
🤨 I wonder if the FBI ever called to set Him free or if He's still locked up in the Psycho Ward in Brownsville, Texas? 😂
@Banter Maestro2 😂😂😂😂
Fess Parker in the asylum claiming he was Davy Crockett and Daniel Boone.
Back then these actors (before they got on hit TV shows) we contract players so a lot of them would do the circuit on movies and TV. It is different now, you can be a character actor and make a living, getting gigs on different sitcoms for a couple of shows here or there, but back then you needed to wait tables and pick up construction jobs, I believe Nimoy did everything to keep a roof over his head. Even on sitcoms back in the 60s if you were a main character you did not make a lot of money, I think Nimoy made 36k a year as Spock, not a wealthy man's salary but he bought a small home (36k in the 60s was not bad money). They had a lot of insecurity when the show ended as they all needed to work, Had the original Star track aired 15 years later they would be set for life with those contracts and residuals.
I've wondered if smoking was what made Nimoy's voice the way it was or if it was all just nature but seeing this, I'm not so sure because he was younger so that may have been why it was higher pitched.
Now Matthew you old scudder!
Edmund Gwen is the old professor. Some may remember him as Kris Kringle in "Miracle on 34th Street". Also, A very young Dick York, from TV's "Bewitched" plays a teenager at the police station. Don't blink or you'll miss it.
Kewl! Thanks!
@@williampaulbeaugruendler7901 No, thank you. i hope wasn't intruding on your post.
Poor old Fess Parker gets stranded in the asylum
Davy help us fight giant ants

Great movie
James Whitmore ( Brookes from shawshank ) ! He also did miracal grow ads in the early 80s !
You must be very young if that's all you know him for. Wikipedia and see his list, over 100, many classics.
They should have used boric acid mixed with sugar to kill those ants. They could have saved a lot of money on flamethrower fuel.
This is almost as good as Sky King.
Wasn't Nimoy a sergeant in the U.S. Army?
Would love to see the entire movie not just 4 : 06 . Can someone ply the entire film ?
I loved the scene with Nimoy, his acting wasn't great but then you gotta start somewhere. Parker was always a likeable actor and at 6'5" wasn't even the tallest actor in this movie ... that would have been James Arness at 6'7". The special effects are a joke by todays standards, but back then people knew they had to buy into it and they did.
Nothing better than this!!!! Thanks ❤❤!!!!!!👍!!!!
Does anybody know where I can watch this movie for free without having to pay for it
Gee! 🙆, Who are these kids?
Looks like George Hamilton in cluckbait.
And Marshall Dillon.
LUV this film!!!
Fess Parker Davey James Arness Gunsmoke and Lenny Mr Spock.
You forgot to mention James Arness.
Peter Grave's kid brother!
Why want they show the entire movie😪
Daniel. Boone. In a Looney 😊😂😂😊😂
🤣😉😀
i remember fess but not nimoy.
I have this movie
Maybe you could have used a better potato to record this
Charming Retro Feel
This is a terrible copy. Did you record this off a tv screen with your phone?? Unwatchable.
Best part of this movie is James Arness screaming like a little Girl! Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha
It was the James Whitmore character who screamed as he got pinched ... in half!
I saw this film years and years ago and it was shite then and still is.
The first half of the film is actually very good but later the suspense subsided a bit and was not helped by the poor special effects.
I thought the special effects were good!...and the effects people made do with just two "ants"...one was a stationary mock-up, the other was the head of an ant, mounted on a forklift!...Somehow, through good editing, we thought we saw more full-size ants.
Title is non-PC, Pronoun.
Illogical.
