Quietus (Fates Warning Cover)

I recently made some studio upgrades that necessitated rewiring everything from the ground up, so before starting any major projects for clients, I thought it would be a good idea to dial in the new system by recording and mixing a full song-something low-pressure and just for fun. So I asked my old friend and former Theocracy bandmate Shawn Benson to bring his drums over and record a cover song with me. Fates Warning is one of my all-time favorite bands, and “The Ivory Gate of Dreams” obviously had a major early influence on my multi-part epics like “Mirror of Souls,” “Red Sea” and “The Healing Hand.” Since “Quietus” is one of my favorite sections of that song, and since it’s so dynamic-from quiet and slow to loud and fast-it seemed like the perfect choice. Hope you enjoy (we did).

That was incredible! As a long time Fates fan from the 80's, you really captured this song perfectly. Ray was singing in the stratosphere back then so I'm sure that was incredibly tough. I would love to hear you do the rest of The Ivory Gate of Dreams or maybe something off Perfect Symmetry :) Great job!
