  • In this video I am demoing the SONICAKE Vol Wah pedal with a little help in places from the SONICAKE Rockstage multi effect unit. I demonstrate swells, pads, pedal steel simulations and violin style use of the volume pedal section and then give the Wah Wah a workout with some funky style rhythm followed by some solo/lead lines which employ the Rockstage. The amp is a Boss Katana 50 (being used on clean channel without effects) and the guitar is a BYO custom designed Tele with Duncan pickups. Oh, a friend of mine makes a guest apperance during the Wah Wah demo (I don't want to spoil the surprise🐥).

    Thanks for showing us with no reverb or echo or fuzz or anything initially, nobody else is really doing that ☺️

      I appreciate this comment and totally agree! Unfortunately, I forgot to turn off the amp reverb later in the video and I had not intended to use it with the pedal reverb. I feel exactly the same way though, too much ambience and mod effects on videos make it hard to hear the product being demoed, Thanks for listening!

    Thanks Mat! Pedals and the katana sound great! You are a tasty guitar player, sir. By the way, love Miles “special guest” appearance. I would definitely order the volume/wha pedal. And I want that combo pedal, with delay/reverb and overdrive. I just didn’t decide if it’s going to be the rock or the blues version. People are saying on coments in other videos that the blues version is capable of produce “dumble” kind of sounds! I’m really curious about this one! Thanks for sharing your nice playing with us and knowledge. All the best, cheers from Brazil!

    Thanks for the video I didn't even know they made this till yesterday I just bought me a new Fender twin tone master today so I will be using this pedal with the dark hammer peddal so I am hopping this set up works for me I think simplicity is the key these days I so tired all these effects processors that take to much time to learn I think alot of guitar players are starting to realize this and are starting go more compact these days.

    • @MatGurman
      @MatGurman  4 года назад +2

      Patrick Romero I’ve been looking at the Tonemaster series also. I agree with you about simplicity. I think a good clean channel is 75% of the formula.

      @@MatGurman hey there May I get mine this week I been looking at all these reviews some are good and some are bad I'm hoping for the best I have a Boss Katana Artist now it's not bad but the clean channel is a little flubby sounding I here as we speak wondering if I put a better speaker in this Katana if it would sound better sorry I got side tracked back to the Fender Tone Master I can sacrifice alittle tone I know it's not going to sound the same as a tube amp but as long as it sounds clear and sounds good with my pedal board I think I will be happy and so will my back at times in the summer I do two gigs in a day so the tone master will work for me Mat Gurman plus I will keep my Mesa Boogie just in case lol ☮️ Peace Bro.

      @@patrickromero5365 Hi Patrick, I took the plunge on the TM the TM Deluxe. I mostly like it. Since it’s all digital, I wish they had give the option of a loop and more clean volume if desired. That’s my only complaint with it. I’m sure they were trying to make the point that it’s a head to head digital replacement. They had an opertunity to do more. I get it though. The line out is amazing.
      And I’m pretty stunned by the verb. It’s a great gig amp.

  • @vitgit

    great demo and playing! does it have a volume boost when you kick in the wah?

    • @MatGurman
      @MatGurman  11 месяцев назад +1

      Thank you. It’s not a volume boost but a high and high mid eq boost. All wahs will have that perceived volume boost because they are boosting certain frequencies as you sweep through them. It’s not like a boost pedal because it’s only boosting certain frequencies as you move the pedal.

    Nice demo, so the foot switch is used to go between the volume and wah functions. Just wondering how do you turn the pedal on and off. Say I wanted to use some wah, how do I go straight to wah and then can I turn the wah back off when im done and not have to cycle through the volume function?.

    • @MatGurman
      @MatGurman  5 лет назад +2

      Volume pedals are not turned off. The don’t effect the tone, you just run through it and use it for volume adjustments or leave it set till you need to change it. They don’t have off switchs, same as the volume knob on a guitar but worked with your foot. This way you can set it and leave it, make louder, softer or subtly for different types of attack (like a bowed string effect of pedal steel). You can also use it to mute the sound completely (say, when tuning or taking a break). If they had an off switch it would be the same as just having it on and wide open. Hope that helps🎶

    awesome should it sound a bit noisy when pushed all the way down on wah mood?

    • @MatGurman
      @MatGurman  4 года назад +2

      drifting melodies Yes, anything boosting hi frequencies will boost a bit of the background noise
      in a signal chain. Same is true of eq’s which is what a wah is basically. I have a crybaby and it also adds some noise in toe down position. It’s just the nature of the beast. If you are using a hi gain preamp or distortion/OD, the noise from them will be boosted by a wah. I hope that helps.

      Im sure it could break is stepped on incorrectly (stepping sideways) as it’s made of plastic which requires a lighter touch. Perhaps you got a defective one. Maybe you should contact the company. Good luck
