Tom - the quality of your videos continues to improve and your knowledge on how to use the full functionality of a camera is very impressive!! Great job!
Hi Tom, with firmware 2.0 to the Z 8, have you seen yourself changing some of your preferences, settings, menu items, etc.? Either because of 2.0 or because a year experience was added.
Great question! I seem to always be tinkering with settings based on what I'm shooting. Lately, I've been shooting with other brands and only aerials with the Z's. I'll check them and see...if it's significant I'll make an update video. I'm almost ready to start filming again! Thanks for watching!
I'm struggling a little, deciding on what goes in My Menu / Info / Custom Buttons. Same approach here in terms of priority - most used gets a button assignment. Secondary use gets a spot on the Info screen. And everything else goes to My Menu. I'm pretty close! Just hung up on the Info screen and how to differentiate Custom Banks, mine are Standard / Portrait / Macro / Action.
Yeah, my banks are always a work in progress and I tweak things as I go. It helped me to write it out on paper. Check out the link in description to my website and download the Settings template. It’s for the Z9 but it’ll work to help organize your thoughts for your Z8. Thanks for watching!
I've subscribed and watched your first videos about the Z8. Clear, concise, and short. Thank you. I have not been able to find out, from any source yet, whether you can limit the source card when in 'Playback' mode? When the 2nd card is set for 'BackUp', both cards are displayed during 'playback'. Thanks in advance..Jon
Thanks for watching Jon! So tell me why you’d need to do that? If the images on each card are the same then it shouldn’t matter, right? Do you have your Photo Shooting banks set to record to different cards?
@@TomReplogle Sure. Try this. Set your SD slot to BackUp. Take a few pics. Hit the Playback and you will see 2x the photos: Original on CFE card and Backup on SD. I don't care to have my playback populate with pictures from both cards. It seems that none of the Playback Filters allow only one card to display when in this set up. Thanks.
@@K4783 Ah, I'm with you now. Sorry, hadn't had enough coffee yet. Yes, I'm not sure why it's like this but there is no way I have found to not see both the primary image and backup image when reviewing. I went back through all of the menus and couldn't find a solution. Sorry. Perhaps it is for verification that a backup actually exists? But it would be nice to have the option to turn that off if needed. If I come up with a solution I'll report back...please do the same.
Hey Tom, I have a z8 and I followed your instructions but when I press my key button my menu does not appear…where could I have gone wrong? What does appear is set picture control
Hi Lauren, try putting 'Airplane Mode' in your My Menu and put it all the way at the top and try it again. What you'll notice is that Airplane Mode is an On/Off setting and doesn't have an arrow at the end indicating additional options. Picture Control is likely at the top now and has additional options so when you press the key button it takes you into those options. I hope this helps. Thanks for watching!

Tom, Great job. Amazing that documents you have created. I had created something like that but your documents and your video will help a lot.
Thanks! Glad it helped! Z8 specific docs coming soon.
I have a Zf, but this was super helpful. Thanks!!
