I did know about most of these. That clip of Feathers performing Ching-a-ling reveals that part of the song at least morphed into Saviour Machine from Bowie's third album The Man Who Sold the World.
I really like all of your videos that I've watched today. Just found you today as a matter of fact! I would enjoy seeing pictures of the actual people performing the songs rather than just seeing the artist that wrote the songs. We all know it Bowie looks like and Lennon and McCartney. But we at least in the United States are not familiar with some of the bands mentioned here.

Yes he did so at the ripe old age of 17, to avoid confusion with Davy Jones of the Monkees in the States. He chose the name Bowie, because of the American knife fighter Jim Bowie and the Bowie knife. David also thought the name sounded more American and that it might help his bid to break into the American market. David obviously made the right choice. His success stands as glittering proof of David making the right choices time & time again. Long Live David Bowie !!! 💙
Diamond Dogs album and Low. These are two from my top 10 bowie albums. I just can't narrow it down to one song, it's hard to pick just one album by Bowie. The man had God given talent and was a trendsetter. He left us with such a diverse and widely individualisíc catalog of music; not to mention individual memories with friends or concerts, memories with friends, happiness, sorrow, love and grief. I saw Bowie, live in 1976 and many times after up until 2004. I had tickets to go see David Bowie for the Glass Spider tour but was in a very bad car accident which left me paralyzed when I was 23. The one good thing was that Bowie always so great to his loyal fans, that he sent me flowers. Thanks to my brother who was friends with the DJ on WMMR and they were having a call in with Bowie so my brother tried to get him to visit me in the hospital; which I probably would have killed my brother for. I had gone through the windshield and I didn't look my greatest. I had my head shaved with a 200 and some staples in my scalp. But he was such a gentleman. I could not believe he sent me flowers. I actually thought it was a family member doing it but when I saw the handwriting I knew it was he (David). Now I am going to be 60 in a few months and my heartbreaks due to the death of a few close friends and at times when I hear one of his songs still, because in my heart he was a friend. Rest among the dearly departed, Mr. Bowie, Mark, and Wayne. ❤️🌹❤️🌹❤️🌹
my favourite of bowie's is space odity, my favourite album surprizingly is between the rise and fall of ziggy stardust and diamond dogs, for me diamond dogs is just outstanding and an incredible album, so far ahead of it's time,

Actually, nightclubbin, China Girl, Just for Life , were fine tuned musically by Bowie, but lyrically, no. Because they lived together and David played piano on Iggys tour, there'ssome creative input (just like Simple Minds & iggy, or Bauhaus & David). But Iggys autobiography explains it more clearly.
Except 'All the Young Dudes,' I just don't find any inspiration in these songs. They aren't interesting. Overall, for me, David Bowie is mixed, some great songs, some I just don't care for.
@@jre617 China Girl was one of the songs that really turned me on to David Bowie when I was a young teen. I hadn't heard anything like it. Later, in my early 20s, when I discovered the Iggy Pop version, I was pretty happy. It was his own take, being more raw. It seemed crazy and awesome. Lust for Life isn't exactly my cup of tea, but it certainly turned a lot of people onto Iggy Pop, particularly after it was featured in Trainspotting. I think it was responsible for a huge upturn in Iggy Pop's career. People you'd never expect to listen to him were suddenly checking him out. I like All the Young Dudes. That was also a career saver for Mott the Hoople. I think for most people, it's the only song people know from that band. Other than the rest of the songs for Iggy Pop, I guess a lot of the other songs Bowie wrote for others weren't that great.

Gavourite Bowie song...Bewley Brothers on Hunky Dory which is also my fav Bowie record along with Aladinsane.

Ching A Ling was reworked and ended up on the album "The Man Who Sold The World" as the track "Saviour Machine". Bowie recycled numerous old tracks.
