OK. So are we hearing an actual pile-up, and how do you learn how to manage that.

There were quite a few pileups during this activation. I run them by picking out any character(s) I can copy and asking for repeats until I get a full call. It just takes practice. I think pileups are a lot of fun. 73!

@@w4arb I'm going live next month so this is getting real. On this pile-up: you finish one QSO with 'e' 'e' -- then three other ppl start chirping in your pile up -- then you picked out a call sign, or part of one, and/or the question mark **__**? And if it's too big of a mess, did you also clear the deck by throwing a CW CW repeat again?

If it’s a big jumbled mess, I’ll normally guess a letter or number haha. Like “4?” and if no one responds then i’ll send “QRZ?” and keep trying until I get someone. Normally you’ll have at least one person that’s off frequency a bit so their tone is higher or lower than the pileup and that’s the person I can pick out. Also great tip for hunting in a pileup, go +/- a few hz to break through a pileup. :)
