Ve dvanácti letech vyhrála talentovou soutěž, album jí křtil Karel Gott. Ve 23 jí ale diagnostikovali rakovinu prsu: „Bylo to šokující, ale život jde dál. Jiné východisko, než jít se okamžitě léčit, nebylo. Neměla jsem čas lámat si hlavu a naříkat,” říká operní a muzikálová pěvkyně Patricia Janečková. „Občas jsem vystupovala i během léčby. Doma jsem se cítila nemocná, neměl jsem sílu dojít ani sama do koupelny. Na jevišti jsem ale na to, že jsem nemocná, nemyslela. Doufám, že teď už bude všechno v pořádku,” dodává.

I am from the USA and i was so sad to find out she is no longer with us on Earth. I cried and cried and cried some more. She was a living Angel and now she is in heaven and all of us will treasure the moments she sang for us, forever.

- Yes, but only after I was over the harder phase of chemotherapy, when the easier phase started. Chemotherapy was divided into two parts. It's a harder part and an easier part, when I only got one dose a week, I had a little more strength, and I even played two performances. I almost don't even know where I mustered enough strength to do this, but luckily it worked out well. I was definitely looking for some light at the end of the tunnel, some hope that I could return to the stage soon and that it would be good again.
- I read that he played some shows during the medical treatment. Did you consult the doctors beforehand? Or was the risk too great during such a demanding medical treatment?
- I would never have allowed myself to do something big without their permission. Of course there was approval. Of course, a theater is full of people, both in the auditorium, behind the scenes, and in the dressing room. The risk was that I wouldn't catch any disease from someone, because even a silly cold would have been difficult enough. That's why I was very careful, I wore a mouth mask everywhere and only took it off when I went on stage. The energy you get from the audience and colleagues, the music and the singing as a whole make me forget that I'm sick.
- That's why I asked about the possible healing effect of music. The body was clearly weakened, fighting the disease, but still something drew you to the stage.
- Yes, of course, but back home I wasn't able to just play some music. I felt sick at home, but not when I went to the theater.
- During the one-year treatment, did you not return to any aria or composition that gave you hope and strength?
- No.
- You wrote on Facebook in May that it took several months before you decided to publish a photo of yourself without a wig. Why did you finally decide to publish such a photo?
- Because everyone around me said it suits me. That was the first impulse, although I was convinced that it was not so. For me, hair is a woman's thing. Maybe not for everyone, but definitely for me. And there is a difference between amber voluntarily buying a wig for a bald head and when a woman is forced to do so by her illness. That always meant bad things to me. To be honest, when I look at these photos now, I don't even remember what that feeling was like, even though it only lasted half a year. You try not to think about bad things.
- Yes, he posted several such photos. He had no intention of warning young people, e.g. that cancer is a serious disease that can affect anyone, even at a young age. That you have to take advantage of every moment and take life with humility. Did you perhaps have such an intention?
- It sure was. But in the present age, or in any age, we have to take into account that these diseases do not only appear from a certain age. Most women think that breast cancer can appear over the age of forty or beyond, but there are already more of us as proof that this is not the case and that women could take care of some kind of prevention.
- How long did you not sing, or couldn't sing because of the illness, or because you were weak, or because it was simply not possible due to medical treatment?
- The treatment started at the beginning of February last year, and I only performed in April and May. In other words, I was unable to sing at all for two or three months. Although I tried to try something back home. The voice was always there, so it wasn't that my vocal cords weren't working, but I didn't have the strength to breathe, without which you can't sing anything, even if the vocal cords are working.
- Then, after the medical treatment, will he be able to return to the original form in which he was before the diagnosis?
- I'm confident that yes, I'm not at that level yet, but for that you have to train, sing and practice a lot. I already work on stage, now I just have to practice more and more to get back from musicals to the world of opera, which is a bit more demanding.
