    That 8mm deep socket threw me for a loop! Thanks for specifying the size!

    I just did this today in about 20 min.
    Used NGK plugs as replacements and now the idle lurching is gone!

      Manual recalls change every 5 years. Otherwise they can get corroded and stuck inside

    It's cool to see the Mazda 5 and your vlogs. What I had to do on the issue with shedding material under engine cover is, I used a hot blade to remove the melted pionts on plastic and remove that insulating material all together. ..

    I always keep the engine cover off, it only invites critters in. They love to chew wires...

    Does Mazda specify the torque for this anywhere? On my NKG plugs it illustrates the torque with the amount of turn you should do, but I rather had a number.

    • @sigor2011
      @sigor2011  10 месяцев назад

      Probably, I just use the turn count as suggested. Torque number hard to apply as long extension make it harder to reach. I don't kmow anyone using Torque wrench

    Did each plug make that vibration when breaking it free? I started to pull mine, but it concerned me enough to do a little research. Looks like it's ok though. I'll put anti-seize on the new ones.

    • @sigor2011
      @sigor2011  4 года назад +1

      Depends on your corrosion level. Dont add a lot of antiseize, it can cause problems getting correct torque. Just a touch is normally enough.

      These plugs don't need anti seize, you will over torque them. If the threads are shiny they are already coated. Made the same mistake.

  • @simplelife2967

    Could you specify the deep socket size for the plug, the nut, as well as the recommended extension bar length?

    • @sigor2011
      @sigor2011  2 года назад +1

      If I recall correct, 5/8 is the socket size. Most plugs today use same socket size. I can't recall extention length and don't have a car any more to check. As there is no overhead clearance restrictions, 3/4 of a foot to a foot will be fine.

    • @simplelife2967
      @simplelife2967 2 года назад

      Just double checked. Spark plugs: 3/8" deep socket, preferably special socket with rubber lock inside. Metallic nuts: deep socket 8mm, or similar inch size. Plastic nuts, same socket as for the plugs. Extension bar: 6" or preferably 10".

    You should always use some anti-seaze on your plugs steal or aluminum.

    • @sigor2011
      @sigor2011  3 года назад

      So same yes, others not. I don't live in an environment that needs it, 5 years later they will still come out like new. Perhaps for a different region, it might be necessary indeed.

    Sigor, i have a 2012 mazda 5. Recently there has become a dead spot when pressing the gas. I changed the air filter and now im changing plugs. I ordered the plugs that the manual said to get. So im hoping that this fixes the dead spot. If it doesnt im afraid i will have to take it in. Any advice?

      Sorry man. Hope the fix works for you. I've since replaced my car, and have not experienced that issue prior to that.

      I’m having the same problem with my 2007 Mazda 5 …. Did the plugs fix the problem ?? I cleaned injector, change the seals, change plugs new NGK plugs, fuel pump and air filter and ignition coils and I’m still having the problem, sometime the RPM won’t go over 2000 unless I floor it then it kicks up but I don’t wanna have to do that all the time 😩😩😩 I literally have no power up hill … I could push the gas pedal through the floor an it will not go any faster untill I’m over the hill

      @@ogkev7439 Yikes!!! you really have done alot. I noticed when changing plugs that one had oil on it plus i saw that there was oil on the motor. So i think the head gasket is leaking. I ve done that fix on a truck i had and a car but nothing with this many things i would have to disconnect and then reconnect. The actual repair i can do just not sure about the rest. Was going to find out how much it would cost to have done. But the plugs didnt fix the problem.
