@@shafiqofficialytYou use Sugar and confetti? I'm on NG+9 and haven't used either against Isshin only against those fear mini bosses and the guardian ape
This gotta be the most aesthetically pleasing souls-like game. Even the combat is SS tier, and the lines the bosses say after they kill you? Cold as fuck dawg
After i learned that to parry in this game you had to look at not only the movement of the boss, but their stance, the kanji and any differences on the way they would hold their weapon… man, that’s the moment I “got” sekiro, I absolutely love that even though it’s a pretty short game with tons of recicled areas it manages to feel so big and so complex.
I've watched this video like 7 times and just realized how detailed the weapons manipulation is. Like, owl literally flips the sword between his fingers after doing that kill on the player. I love this game and need to get back into it.
The funniest thing is that in the first versions of the game he wouldn't do that, but after the "GOTY" update which included the boss rush mode From Soft thought Genichiro was to easy and put that just to fuck with us😂
Well, every technique from the “shinobi arts" skill tree that wolf knows, came from Owl. And what was the first technique in that tree?? Yes, the mikiri counter.
You just have to remember that we, as the player, are the true boss because we can research our enemies and we have infinite lives that only depend on our determination to keep fighting. We can also come back stronger by slaughtering grunts. Put yourself in the bosses shoes. Your a war general chilling in your dwellings when a relatively small man comes in and starts a fight. You murder him. 3 seconds later his body evaporates and returns through the same door way. Infinitely. Until you are defeated.
I think it's more so that the small man walks in and proceeds to counter and dodge everything you throw at him, like he knows you inside and out, even tho it's the first time you've ever seen him. Infinitely more terrifying than seeing him evolve over time is to walk into him already completely equipped to decimate you, not even knowing who he is

Best defense for these bosses 1. Nvr thrust attack against Owl , he's ur dad 🗿 2. Repeat the ⚡ reversal against Genichiro 3. Don't stay near Isshin when he's going for a mortal blade draw
Honestly, missed potential with Inner Genichiro's lightning reversal reversal. It maybe catches you off guard the first time, otherwise it's trivial to deal with because he does it every time. It would have been much better if sometimes he does the reversal, but sometimes he does a perilous thrust while dodging your reversal instead. That actually adds more depth to the fight, giving you an additional tell to pay attention to, instead of making you simply swap out one reversal for two.
I got so fucking speechless when I first saw Owl countering me. Bosses with similiarities with the playable character are just so fucking cool. I don't even get angry when bosses heal, or simply dodge the attack in games where they shouldn't (most bosses in the souls game don't do)
I love how Owl and Genichiro talk to a dying Wolf like he's a pest to be swatted, but Isshin respects him enough to impart a final piece of wisdom. It's like getting beaten up by Bruce Lee and then he tells you "Don't think...FEEL" right before he knocks you out.
The last time I played Sekiro, The Glock Saint Ishin had just thrusted me off a cliff, and while falling I hear “hesitation is defeat”. That was three years ago.
Cool little detail, when he's doing his firecracker move into Shadowrush, if you Shadowrush him faster, you'll actually be able to use the firecracker as cover like he's doing and hit him with the move.
I like how the first boss shown here gives the vibe of high level martial arts going head to head. Highlevel fighters can end a fight in an instant the second you show an opening and thats exactly what happened. The other two didnt give that feeling.
No thats exactly the point of Sekiro. Everyone has a posture meter, that basically acts as a second health bar. Not parrying strikes correctly or getting hit outright gives you stance damage. If your posture breaks you are stunned and a lot of bosses follow up with an attack like Owl, the first boss. If you break the enemy posture you get an opening for a deathblow, which is an instant kill on low enemies, and bosses consist out of 2 or 3 deathblow hits to finish them. The combat is a back and forth dance of offense and defense. And the better you are at precisely parrying the opponents attacks, the faster you stack posture damage. No boss in this game ever gets their phase health dropped to zero (which also gives an opening for a deathblow), its all about breaking the posture and using that to end the fight. You could certainly make an argument that some of the attacks are not really martially accurate, because they are to wide or unpractical and leave Sekiro open. But the game does a marvellous job at making you feel like being a katana master and a badass ninja, the immersion of that is never broken. The lightning reversal is a scinematic element in the game, has important lore implications and only happens in the last phase of Genichiro and Isshin. Its the games way of saying "You did well so far, now feel more like a badass ninja" If you are a martial arts enthusiast I highly recommend giving the game a go. Its the best combat mechanics and feeling Fromsoft has ever created and it was rightfully GOTY 2019
Sekiro bosses were a real challenge for me. I’m a Souls veteran, but my play-style is very defensive. Changing my mind-set to be more aggressive was hard but super fun!
