To put something down gently, which is useful for befriending scavs by dropping pearls or spears at your feet, its down + grab !

If you give a pearl to one of the toll scavengers and they pick it up, they will actually wave you through. Just make sure they see you give it to them (jumping can get their attention).
For your ASMR question, I don't like mouth sounds or anything, but I do like keyboard typing ASMR and stuff like that. Also that one channel that records the tortoise eating food, THAT'S good.

23:53 you gave the pearl to a tiny squad, that big opening with the skull and strung pearls is called a toll and you need to give the scavengers over there a pearl to pass through (or multiple items of moderate value, like spears). you can also wait for the rain to come to pass through because the scavs hide then
edit: i hadnt gotten to the end yet, you should throw the pearls at the scavs because its just a small toss and they will probably notice you easier
Devastating. Scavengers are fickle and the tolls are even worse. You have to wait until the scavenger recognizes the pearl in your hand (he will stick his arm out towards you), then you gently drop the pearl on the ground as you did towards the end of the episode, they will grab it, but you can only go through if one of the scavengers waves his hand over his head (he will stick his arm out towards you and move it in a semi circle over his head towards the other side of the toll. It's smart to hold a pearl in your stomach in the case that a roaming scav appears or you come up on an unexpected toll.
I have since recorded the next episode and didn't even CONSIDER putting a pearl in my stomach lol, awesome. I just designated that my batnip storage haha. Thanks for the tip!
32:52 I think the game glitched, because they were supposed to accept the pearls, maybe it happened because nobody saw you throw them, so it's better to place them down instead of throwing
Strange, it seems your game was bugging out at both 12:28 and 32:53 . That spear definitely should have hit the popcorn plant the first time and the scavengers should have accepted the pearls immediately once you put both down (a couple of them did approach the pearls as they should have but I guess their grab function bugged out).
15:42 - What's going on is an intended feature for the shelters. Since the devs know that players would be using shelters for purposes other than sleeping (going back in to pick up something, do something, etc), it would be unfair for the doors to close immediately after entering.
So they programmed it so that as long as the slugcat is constantly performing an "action" of some kind, the doors stay open. You would have slept if the down button wasn't held.
To answer your questions regarding the association of the word "kek" with hate groups, don't worry because only the chronically online would think kek is solely for hate. Heck, I didn't even think about hateful association when I first saw your channel.
As far as I know, the issue with kek started and should have died around 2017 because some hate groups were being dipshits as usual by claiming internet slang for themselves.
Every aspect of this comment was super helpful, especially the last part. It seems stupid depending on your perspective but it was pretty upsetting for me to find that all out, so I'm glad it may not be so bad after all :)

11:17 When your controls got stuck earlier I was joking about, "oh, probably a Corsair keyboard". Lo and behold.
I googled a little bit and it seems the K100 has a typing macro capability. I have a Corsair K63 and while mine doesnt have the macro functionality, very often (~6 times an hour) the keyboard freezes up, holding down the last key I pressed and being unresponsive until I turn it off and on again.
Havent found any permanent solution yet, however my issue was temporarily solved by downgrading my keyboard's firmware to a previous version. It started facing the same issues again 4 days later though.
I'm glad I'm not alone in this at least, oh my. Now I need to figure out how I accidentally downloaded the scary jellyfish macro 👀👀
I'm probably one of the only people who thinks this, but Scavengers liking you TOO much can also be pretty annoying.
To put it vaguely enough for you to come to your own opinion: Friendly scavengers are a pal but a liability.

Idk if you want tips this specific (so I'll put it after the "read more" break), but if you want reputation with scavengers:
You can give them non-pearl gifts, they particularly like to be given spears. And they notice if you help them in fights. In fact, saving their lives is probably the biggest thing you could possibly do for them in the game.

Usually an accident though, which does help.
@@dinodare1605 Most of the times these are not accidents at all. I think it's because the reputation only increases with them after you hibernated, so when you help some scav, after jumping and throwing spears near him trying to save him, he will instantly spear you. I've seen it happen myself and with many youtubers. Generally not a good idea to help scavengers when your rep isn't high enough for you to not receive a spear to the head after just jumping.
Idk how it actually works, but they specifically kill you not by accident sometimes as a fact.

The 'hate' is exaggerated and all sorts of stuff is accused of being racist for no reason so... meh. And like, I've been on the foul end of the actually extreme people and they're... annoying. If anything I'm more annoyed at people trying to start panics over that stuff because most 'racists' seem to just be edgy trolls that uses kek politically because it got a reaction? Man I’m sorry about those scavs at the end 😂, they did not notice your pearls or something. Great little episode, fun to watch. I would say that you will enjoy it most if you can make it through that toll that you were at at the end (it’s a great and very natural way to progress).
I Love the rain world ambiance sounds and stuff, but I have never been interested in actual ASMR, it was very interesting to hear your perspective though.
PS: you can close the game (and access the map) from the hibernation menu. Quitting the game 30 seconds after you wake up will punish you and count as a death (it’s so that you can’t just close the game and reopen it every time you think you are going to die)
you could've gotten a vulture mask which scares away lizards remember when the scavanger killed the vulture you can spear a vulture's face to get the mask there is a chance that a spear to the face will demask a living vulture but vultures really hate loosing thier masks they keep hunting you down across cycles and they get a 100% lethality rate so i recommend getting the mask of dead vultures about scavanger tolls you just need to give them items until one of them waves thier hands behind them meaning you can pass a single pearl will always get you through a toll and next time drop 1 pearl so thier ai doesnt get confused

You would need to do a back-flip down throw with a Speer then the speer is in the ground like a pole so you can climb the speer and throw a second speer in the left wall above the shelter when you have done that you can jump on the second speer and then in the way above.
It would be easier to do if you can pull the speer out of the wall if you made a mistake with a speer throw.
in the remix menu you can set that you can pick up speers that are stuck in a wall.

Awesome tips again! I think the vulture stuff is my main take away, they seem so daunting that it feels crazy to attack them, but I'll have to give it a try in ep 8 (I recorded ep 7 before I read the rest of the comments.. I'm very sorry lol) Also I did forget about some of the tweak mods but I'm not toooo worried about it, I think the game is fine as is and the developer intent is nice to keep in tact on my first play through. Again, thanks for the reminder though!

Not sure about the next entry, so it might take a bit…
During your journey you’ll come across some big predators. One of the first of these predators are big, bird-like creatures that can appear in ceiling-less rooms. Unlike many predators these do not have any rivalry between each other. They seem to value their lives more than their appetite, and can easily be scared off with a couple spears.
-Creature entry: Vulture
They wear a mask of a bone-like material to protect their most vulnerable body part. This mask is not attached to their body and can be detached with a well aimed spear (right behind the mask). This mask has many special properties. Besides being valued by the scavengers, these mask can be used to scare off almost every type of lizard. This seems to wear off a short time after spotting the mask however (about 17 seconds). This can give a giant advantage to those who manage to obtain one.
-Item entry: Vulture mask
The vultures whose mask has been detached act the same when hunting. But as soon as it’s seen by others vultures it’ll get attacked by them.
If this vulture sees whatever detached their mask, they’ll hunt it down. They won’t catch this creature, they only intend to Kill who stole their mask (I’ve seen it myself and luckily didn’t have to learn it the hard way)
