These therapy sessions are a great on my journey to work. Nothing you need to watch , it’s just to you two talking so I can listen which is great. Maybe be put out as a podcast if you don’t already.
Customers expectations are getting ridiculous and almost impossible to manage! Lots of people want a brand new car for 3k it's a joke, they think we should do a nut and bolt restoration on them and sort anything out that goes wrong for the next 12 months
I found the worst customers to be those buying the cheapest cars - stuff at £1-1.5k (maybe 4-5k these days) were generally lovely, no hassle, never saw them again. The £100-200 cars…that was their life savings and they wanted a brand new car…
I’ve bought and sold boxsters and OMG 😂. One had an RAC check on an immaculate 3.2, all stock, N spec tyres and FMDSH . RAC report was a serious a@se covering report - even reported the engine was suspected knocking when the tiniest noise was the shiny logo on a brand new serpentine belt making a slight reflective noise as it passed over the idlers. Buyer saw sense and still bought it and it was a lovely car.
I advertised a mint low miles mgtf all last summer, started 3k ended up at 1295,still couldn't sell it, then out of the blue an old guy rang from an old advert in classic car mag, I've still got one but waiting for spring, don't think I'll be buying any more, seem to have had there day.
As a trader anything cheap BMW, Merc Audi. Selling £2/3000 they still expect a 30 grand car. Never get asking price for them and loads of messers. I'll stick to me Fiats Fords Citroens etc. Selling nice cheap little cars to nice people
Great video lads. Many many years ago Iwent to a car traders pitch which had a big old Merc for sale at a low price. I asked what mileage it did to a gallon, he said if you ask that question you cannot afford it. It put me in my place
Best to stay away from anything sporty, I more or less stick to bread and butter cars,I had a terrible experience with a st170 the deal cost me a fortune.
Sold a Px Clio advertising for 995 with 10m MOT "How much can we have it for?!?" 😂 after going through every service and invoice (of which there were many) 995 lol 😆
I've a Golf R and an e46 M3 both are completely stock and never ever been tuned. The E46 doesn't even have Bluetooth and I'd never think of adding a new head unit. I have even kept every fuel receipt in the service book 😂😂
Just subscribed, you chaps are so lovely, I felt like I was in the conversation, having a beer, with you! Please continue with your channel! Sometimes it's good that the dealer doesn't know too much. I bought a Jaguar XK, 12 years old, 14k miles FSH. What is FSH for this car? 10k miles (I think) or annual, the previous owner serviced every year, regardless of mileage, a real FSH. I rang just to confirm the service and placed a deposit, didn't ask too many questions, I didn't want to arouse the dealers to rethink their valuation...£14k
Love the mic, much better now! Is it plugged in? 😂😂😂 Appreciate you’ve taken the advice. Amazing contents all the time, you guys should have much more subscribers already. I’m following many similar dealers, but you guys by far the best. Hats off boys
I had a st170 years ago, decent car, couldn't sell it, ended up with 1400 for it(!) this was 2010,car was a 52.plate,anyway they couldn't afford the insurance and wanted a refund, I said no, you've got it cheap enough insurance is your problem, next thing it's court papers, specialist inspection, I lost in court, that was 3200 after all the fees, they then fast tracked it to high court sherrif s, so it was 4k then, they turned up to clear me out, I ended up boarding the house up (!) I managed to pay them in the end, got the car back, punted it St out for 750,guy loved it, a crazy story but true, I actually shudder if I see ST ford's now.
@@cardealerpro got even worse, I couldn't keep up on my buy to let mortgage, due to paying sherrifs and I lost a rental property, property worth 90k,only owed say 33k,they took the lot, joys of being a car /property dealer in credit crunch days.
All this specialist and rac stuff is as you say they'll not buy it, also they don't want to pay for the report, I just say OK any inspection is welcome, then I forgot about them.
I sold my Triumph MK3 GT6. in the 70s put the advert in the paper the car was mint low mileage, got the I would buy it if it had a sunroof, or does it have overdrive, or if it was a different colour, one thing after another. The last car I sold myself through an advert about 8 years ago bloody nightmare one man kept ringing me said he was on his way as he was 100 miles away, then hours later said he hadn't left home yet, then I will come tomorrow etc . In the end someone bought it and I told this guy forget it.
I'd have Golf R but can't justify the brand new price and wouldn't trust a used one for your exact reasons and if there are a registered CAT write off its probably an Undeclared write off repair.
TBF - typical used car dealer attitude. As long as the customer doesn't ask too many difficult questions about the car and just hands over their hard earned cash at the 'screen price' the car dealer will be happy. Over the years I've met far too many used car dealers who really struggle with the truth and simple details like, the 'actual' amount of owners the car has had - often in conflict to what the V5 actually states. Same goes for the mileage stated or advertised as - this is often different to what you find upon viewing the car....oh, and lets not forget the advertised FULL SERVICE HISTORY. Two stamps in the service book and a random receipt for brake pads from the local branch of KwikFit is NOT a full service history. 🤔
There’s difficult questions which we are happy to try and find the answer for, and then there are just unnecessary questions which customers know we can’t answer- i.e why did it miss a service 8 years ago? We just don’t know, and likelihood is we’ve put part service history and advertised it as such- but some people even still demand a full history when they have seen it advertised as part. In those circumstances, their expectations do not match the reality of what they are buying/can afford. We do everything we can to advertise as clearly and transparently as possible. If we don’t have a certain piece of history, we can’t just magic it out of thin air. We advertise at a fair price for mileage, age and history. It’s when customers expect brand new second hand cars that the problems start. 90% are generally okay though. Please don’t tar all car traders with the same brush. We try our hardest to please most customers but some people just can’t be pleased- they are generally who we are talking about here. If customers are right with us, we do right by them. Often you have to question why someone has been unclear or unresponsive if your attitude is just to assume everyone is the same based on your past experiences with a minority. If a client still had that attitude with me despite clear attempts on first contact to try and re-evaluate their initial expectations of us just because they think “all car dealers are the same” I’d take that as a red flag and be hesitant to sell to them. You just can’t please everybody, as you have proven quite well in your comment.
Not very often will you see on our website full service history, it normally says documented service history with x amount of services, we try to be as transparent as possible the last thing we want is to exceed a customer’s expectations on the phone or via email and then when they get here be disappointed, wasting their time and ours.
@@cardealerpro100% agree. If somebody is arrogant enough to basically make us feel like we “need their business” then it just closes the door straight away. There’s a huge mental difference between an easy sale to a nice customer who respects the fact we’ve done everything we can to be honest, to the awkward entitled customer who wants us to bend over backwards to suit unachievable demands. I think our reviews prove that 99% of our customers fall into the first category!

Anything cheap attracts the worse customers because there only have limited money it used to drive me crazy when I used to sell cars all ways trying to get the car cheaper my advice stay away from cars what attract women there the worst 😢😂😂😂
When I was in the car business, guys who used to waste 45 minutes of my time looking at a $2000 car only to tell me they have first ask their wife. Those people started to eventually get on my nerves, I'm so glad I don't have to deal with those pansies anymore. How about next time ask your wife first, better yet be a man for once and tell her you're buying a cheap car. That's what I wanted to say to some of them.
@@Smithstar1976 before I eventually went out on my own, the owner of the lot I worked for used to refer to customers like that as "STROKERS". Him and I didn't always see eye 2 eye but with that, I totally agree with him on that analogy, lol.
@@Smithstar1976 I just remembered something else, this really used to get me. Because I generally sold inexpensive cars many of the customers would Immediately question my integrity.
