I'm so happy Ms. Temple had such a full and honorable life, she's an amazing woman...but this shows the true nature of Hollywood.
Hollywood has had a long history of exploitative rape culture and pedophilia. It is very predatory and cut throat. They eat people alive-or chew them up and spit them out-physically, mentally, emotionally, spiritually.
      Perhaps literally.
As a greek philosopher once said, entertainment is the art of slaves. I love seeing ethically made entertainment, but to get ahead in Hollywood you literally have to sell your soul, and most Hollywood careers are that of a glorified slave and prostitute, if not a ritual sacrifice.
Hollywood has connections to organized crime like human trafficking, and a lot of producers get off to things like snuff films.
Why do you think they've invaded youtube and start deleting videos exposing this? They censor videos exposing the horrors of Hollywood, because they're a sinking ship and people are going to starve them of money, attention, and future exploitable children when we start feeding other sources of entertainment.

My mother, born in Hollywood in the early 30's has many stories of Shirley Temple. My grandfather was a world ranked tennis player in 1938 and my mother would often accompany him to Shirley's estate where my grandfather gave lessons to one of Shirley's older brother's. My mother's cousin was one of Shirley's double's (stand-ins) in her movies. My mom said Shirley was just like any other child when she had parties with her school friends. My mother is 87 today and still fondly remembers her days spent at Shirley's home. My mother was not awed by Shirley's celebrity as kids don't comprehend that the same way as adults do; at age five my mother lived next door to Walt Disney and and was best friends with Walt's youngest daughter, Diane. I am glad Shirley moved on with her life. My family eventually settled in Santa Barbara, away from the glitter (and also dark side) of Hollywood, also, my birthplace

My admiration for her is inestimable as the greatest child-performer - and a double whammy, and a top political career, AND the thousands of women's lives she saved by being the first to openly "co me out" about her breast-cancer!!! Always cheerful - and never a complaint!!! What a truly inspirational STAR OF LIFE she made of herself!!!

Yeah that stuck out, like wth! What did that woman see to feel anguish towards Temple, Was she a witch or something? I understand minor incidents we encounter in life but soul snatching. We all should take a rewind and view that, everything else about her story was just straight up dysfunctional, nothing eye-poppin there for me.

Have none of the people commenting on here read her autobiography? She had a very close relationship with her mother who protected her and had sole care of her. Also look at the interviews with her on several shows when her book was released. She could have turned out to be a whacked out drug addict with all kinds of problems but her life was given to the raising of 3 children and in service to our country. Pretty amazing I think.

A year or so ago, I read her autobiography which was wonderful but almost 700 pages long.
She loved her parents enough to pick them over money and not Sue them for spending most of what she made. The best part in her bio is how she made fun of Cary Grants walk, and he complained to the director who made her apologize to Cary then it was water under the bridge.

Shirley Temple’s life was anything but tragic. She was a talented little girl, she was a well loved daughter and sister, wife and mother. She went on to live a life of service to her country. She didn’t use any difficulties she had in her childhood as an excuse to become a whiny self indulgent burn out. While she had difficult moments within her childhood career she ultimately focused on all the positives that “little Shirley” afforded not only herself but others as well. She wasn’t “dropped” by 20th century fox. She left because she was ready to move on. The Bluebird didn’t do well bc audiences didn’t like seeing Shirley as “bratty”. So it was the writing not the acting that audiences didn’t like. The Bluebird was written (or adapted) as a 20th century Fox version of The Wizard of Oz, which was a role that had been intended for her but her studio refused to lend her to MGM. It just couldn’t compete. That said, Shirley Temple didn’t cling desperately to her film career. When it was no longer something she wanted to do she moved on to other things. As a random aside, I did hear that she and Reagan didn’t much care for each other when they worked together as actors and apparently President Reagan failed to reappoint her to something she had been doing previously. Though she did continue her work within his administration in a more “low key” manner as it was described. I will always be a fan of this bright and passionate human being. She is role model on so many levels. She was a patriot and a proud American citizen who sought to make the lives of everyone she met better. As she had been doing all her life long. ❤️
