My wife and I went vegan cold turkey about 14 months ago and haven't looked back, I think its easier today than say 10 plus years ago largely because of shows like yours and the fact that there are so many more vegan products out there now to where you really don't miss the meat and cheese.
It's definitely easier these days! I lived off of a Whoppers for a good chunk of my 20s and I totally would've paid an extra buck for an impossible whopper, I know that for a fact!

I’m not vegan, but I feel so bad for vegan content creators and all the hate they receive 24/7. The internet thrives on negativity and kids especially latch onto it so quickly and comment hate or condescending questions on a lot vegan channels.
I wish they would see that everyone is different and everyone has different ways of living life. One persons actions/ beliefs does not represent an entire community.
ppl always call vegans angry but people who make eating meat their whole personality are the most angry and bitter people on the internet. They're literally just oldschool trolls.

Mushrooms are a great meat substitute because their so close to being animal yet so far that it doesn’t put alarms of morality or make you feel like crap literally
Pulled BBQ mushrooms was one of the first vegan meals I made after doing the switch and it was transcendent. Introduced my father to it, and though he's still a meat eater, he loves when I make it (as burgers, tacos, or quesadillas).
Like most people who go vegan, I felt pretty perplexed at first about what to eat, but it was just looking up vegan versions of what I already ate that did the trick. Also receiving a vegan cookbook as a Christmas present was very helpful too.
Pulled pork jackfruit was the first meat replacement I tried and I was so happy and excited to begin my vegan journey. That was nearly 6 years ago.
I’ve never considered eating vegan anything. But this guy makes this food look so damn good that I want to try it
It tastes bad don't recommend
You know, since you're vegan you could actually make a more accurate Krabby Patty than most people. The Patty in the Krabby Patty is confirmed to be vegan, although the full burger is vegetarian if you add cheese.
the secret ingredient is plankton though
I never understood why people hate vegans like some of them can be agresive but apart from some bad apples theres realy nothing wrong with them?
Some people hate vegans because some of us won’t pretend that it’s alright to violently exploit the bodies of other sentient beings.

Totally agree with this! First thing I did was replace all of my meats with vegan versions and learned to cook them myself. Helped me discover my love of food 😊

Vegans don’t eat dairy or eggs. They also avoid animal exploitation in regards to clothing, furniture, entertainment etc.
I switched immediately but I had a problem with feeling like a couldn’t breathe after eating for so long and it completely disappeared after going vegan. It made the decision easy for me.
AAW HELL YEAH! This looks delicious AF ❤
Looks can be deceiving
@@Nxixggxexr key word: "can"
@@tgvinfinite2607 im pretty sure these are bots ive seen this on evrey one of these comments or trolls
Compared to the west it's much easier to be vegetarian in India, it's cause the dishes of meat just don't Focus only on the meat for their flavour and taste in the dish, they are accompanied by a lot of spices and gravy so the meat can easily be replaced with soy chunks, cottage cheese and you would still taste the same dish Just with a different texture. Also because of religious reasons there are many accomodations for vegetarians in India.
Exactly! start with meal replacements then transition into a healthier vegan diet. After a while you wont even crave food as much and itll actually be easy to start eating less. I do mostly raw vegan (mostly fruit) during the week, i eat one hot vegan on friday (movie night), then i typically liquid fast on saturday and sunday unless i have to work.
That’s pretty good advice.
I've been thinking about going vegetarian myself- or, at least, half-vegetarian- for texture reasons. I also kinda both wanna see what I could do to replace meat, and if it'd affect my health in any meaningful way
There are tons of mock meats. Pretend chicken is my favourite and you can also try things like tempeh or seitan which have a denser texture. I'm one of those pushy vegans so I also want to suggest you switch eggs for JUSTegg and dairy milk for plant milks if you can. Getting dairy out of your diet is possibly even more impactful for the lives of animals than meat believe it or not. Getting rid of both is of course ideal.
@MrTheoptimiser broski milking cows doesn't do anything bad. Just be vegetarian or smth 😭
Ever since living on my own, my diet has changed dramatically for the better. Being able to identify what you're putting into your body adds so much flexibility to cooking, im not a vegan or a vegetarian even but simply just knowing other dishes without meat or finding ingredients I enjoy as a supplement just makes everything easier and gives me more options.
I absolutely love this mindset. Im not vegan but Im very often cooking vegan meals because for some reason its more fun for me to cook them. Very often it even tastes better than the original
It’s really nice to hear that your vegan journey wasn’t a straight shot. It’s no wonder you’re so good a what you do. You have inspired me to make healthier meals for my family. Thank you.
I love this series.
while im not vegan myself (im actually pescatarian) i honestly appreciate videos like these cause it helps give me more recipes to get more veggies in my diet. im honestly really bad at getting myself to eat veggies cause ive been struggling to find recipes that taste good and these honestly help a ton, this one in particular i wanna try soon cause i love mushrooms. :D
I'm a flexitarian. I eat vegan food before choosing dairy but i only eat meat products when my iron is low. I also don't eat pork at all so these vegan pulled pork recipes are perfect!
I know vegans, vegetarians, and pespiterians but not flexitarians. What's wrong with meat 😭
I had a similar situation I find that being a vegan has its own ups and downs in the kitchen. Especially when it comes down to figuring out what type of spices to use but when I got in the mindset of just creating the things that I've Loved. But today now that I have a vegan for almost 3 years now I always tell people that the best part about it is discovering new ways to make basically the thing that you miss most. Putting it in my mindset to look at being a vegan as its own culinary experience has been I feel the most rewarding thing for me thus far in my journey! And channels like this one has made it more fun.
If you try to recreate it and miss it, why don't you just have it 😭
Honestly if meat had a drastic shortage and was super rare I would really have a problem i have tones of vegan or pescatarian friends and I avidly try vegan meats and honestly, really depends on the brand, it’s great
Wouldnt*
I’ve been vegetarian since I was little and it’s mostly because I hate the taste of meat
Again, you just need to have a big party for all this amazing food lol. I’d love to eat at your house. Thanks for posting these ideas.
You are awesome and a blessing. As a believer I know God is using you. Your content is fun and informative and many non vegans are learning that all that they enjoy can be veganized. Thank you and blessings to you and your family🙋🏾♀️💜👍🏾🛐🌌
Being vegan is about the animals. If you can’t watch slaughterhouse videos, dairy is scary, etc and stop eating it for them, you’re doing it for the wrong reasons and need help.
and the cows are still dead. You are sacrificing your health for quite literally nothing. Red meat, organs, fruit, and raw dairy are the most nutritious foods on the planet and we dont need vegetables.
My sister made me become a vegetarian when I was 9 as she made her hamburger moo at me! 😂 As hilarious as it was, it made me realize where meat came from. I immediately stopped without going back! I turned vegan about 1-2 years ago. I don’t even crave cheese anymore and I don’t do meat substitutes either.

How good is the mushroom? I’ve just started growing them and was wondering how they taste as a meat replacement.
Just bought ur cookbook excited to try it
Kind of unrelated to the video but out of those three options which one makes the best pulled pork substitute in your opinion?
I'm releasing a long form video tomorrow where I go over it, and my conclusion was there wasn't really a clear winner since they all have their pros and cons, but if I had to choose my favorite probably the mushrooms. But the jackfruit is cheaper so there's that!
@@TheeBurgerDude Awesome, thank you!
There's definitely a lot of good vegan options that replace meat, which make it easier for people to switch
I also made this mistake of not replacing my favorite meals from when I ate meat, but I'm lucky that both my parents are vegetarians, so I had an easier time transitioning to a healthy plant-based diet, as opposed to people surrounded exclusively with omnivores 😅
When I move out of home and finish uni I’ll probably try this!
Now this is how you support veganism! Not by standing in cement, yelling at people or ruining food, but by showing how you can still enjoy food, and how fun it can be to try out cooking without meat! I love your content!❤
You are so incredibly helpful and wonderful!!❤
Honestly I have stomach issues so I'm just trying to learn what's best for me so I can be healthy but at the same time enjoy what I'm eating.
For me the hardest thing I find to give-up is cheese I've even tried some vegan cheese in the past and it just wasn't for me (trying to find a good cheese curd replacement or at the very least a good quality shredded mozzarella style for poutine)
That being said you do make some great looking food so I'm a fan of your work even if I'm not vegan
Cheese and eggs were the hardest for me. I didn’t succeed but I am still working on it. One day vegan cheese will be there I hope.
I tried for a while with cheese, then I gave up and just adapted. Now I have vegan cheese whenever I go to a vegan burger place but rarely at home. Just adapted what I ate over time.
I remember first going vegetarian about 2006/2007, my mums bf at the time was vegan and there was only 1 kind of vegan cheese available and it was awful 😂 its sooo much better now
What does Tofu taste like just a question?
Tofu tastes like whatever you cook it with.
Kind of nothing, but like james said, it sponges up any flavour you throw at it, and you can learn easy techniques to make it crispy and delectable. Been almost 3 years on a plant based diet, and I just found out that I love it.
Tofu is basically like protein bread. It doesn't taste like much of anything on its own, but it can be used to make thousands of dishes, sweet, spicy, savory, and it adapts easily to each one
It's great that more and more people choose to be against unnecessary animal cruelty.🍀
“Unnecessary animal cruelty”. Now are you referring to the way livestock is raised today in the commercial world or the amount that are raised to be slaughtered.
🤦♂️. I’m so happy y’all exist. More meat for me. I just want to thank you from my achey breaky heart.

Well said, my plant-based dude!
I went vegan( with a unwanted tendency to vegetarian) so your videos make me very happy :) Great cooking skills and a friendly voice!
I went vegetarian about a month ago with my mom because eating red meats always made me feel sick, but since my mom didn’t like me eating a lot of soy there wasn’t a lot in out grocery store that I would eat, so abt a week ago I decided i would start eating chicken, but not as much as I used to. Chicken is the only meat I eat and it is working very well for my body!
Literally the beat advice I ever heard
I’m a meat eater but I love the content it gives me a lot of different options when I want to make something now
Even if you don't want to 100% go vegan, sometimes it's nice to eat vegan meals. I'm not vegan but I like vegan food. Meat is expensive, lentils are cheap and plentiful
I definitely need to learn how to make vegan versions of port dishes, especially Asian dishes like chashu or Hispanic ones like chicharrons.
I gotta say your food looks so good you should start a vegan restaurant!!
That look SO good.
Not a vegan, nor wanting to become one but I am trying to see about sometimes replacing meat in my diet with vegetarian things.
Its not been going great, but I'm hoping finding this channel will bring some change in that.
I think a good method is gradually cutting out foods, like seafood, red meat, or poultry one at a time until you feel confident going full vegetarian, and eventually vegan, if that’s your goal. It makes it a lot easier to feel satisfied and confident. I started out pescatarian eating chicken every other month because that’s what worked for me to start on the road of vegetarianism. Of course, do whatever method makes you feel fulfilled and happy.
I have been subscribed to your for a while and honestly you returned my faith in vegans, love the content :D
I do eat meat, but just poultry. It’s kinda a family thing and the last people to do it were my grandparents and my mom was vegetarian. I ate meat when I was young so it was weird when I transitioned to only poultry but I couldn’t imagine how bad it would be to go from meat eater to vegan. So if you want to become vegan or vegetarian just slowly cut out meats until you eat none at all.
I have been vegetarian for 25 years and I always tell people that if you can’t cook don’t go vegetarian or vegan. Learn to cook first.
Going vegan forced me to learn to cook and I loved it! You can go vegan at any point unless your a literal child or don’t have access to plant foods.
25 years ago I would have agreed with you, but today there are so many ready-made vegan products its an easier switch. Plus there are loads of internet information now its much easier to find vegan ideas.
@@gidget8717 yes and no. There is so much more ready made plant based food, but it can get expensive very quickly. It’s not sustainable if that is all you are eating. It also prohibits people in lower economic areas because those foods aren’t as readily available. Don’t get me wrong I advocate learning to cool for everyone. However, a vegetarian/vegan can never ever rely on the fact that there will always be something readily available for them.
Meat is better
@@Oonagh72 didn't say they had to rely on ready made food what I said was it was easier they switch. Any non-vegan or non-vegaterain eats some plant based food, I did it for decades (any meat makes me sick as I can't digest it very well). Since I was a child I ate mostly vegetables, grains, a little dairy rarely did I eat meat nor eggs. Never ate tofu because I grew up in a very rural area. Oh I saw it in magazines, in cooking shows and in cookbooks but was unable to buy any to try. After finding this channel, I only recently started trying to replace certain dishes that I had rarely eaten because I rarely ate meat. And I'm poor. I mean I fall below the guide lines for financial poverty. Believe me this day and age it is much easier to give up meat, eggs and dairy.
When my sister and I went vegetarian my mom made us eat beans if nothing else. So many beans. We're Mexican, so there were ALWAYS beans. Luckily pinto beans are so nutritous we were saved from the malnutrition new vegetarians often fall into. That and I was taking Japanese and learning to make Asian dishes and eating tofu.
That looks too sweet
Jack fruit sandwiches go crazy
Such solid advice!
There is a mushroom that tastes almost exactly like pulled pork if cooked right
Jackfruit does too
I am going vegan so far I am 29 days into my journey I am feeling very tired and low on energy tho
Are you eating enough?
Ye you need meat
Make sure you're meals are balanced it's not enough just to fill up on salad and fruit, you need a lot of beens and chickpeas if that doesn't work try taking iron pills they will help
You should try the Karl gummies is plant base

I would love to try this
i was vegan for sveeral years and i miss it, but i had the same problem, and it doesn't help that i don't like mushrooms, jackfruit, or tofu unless prepared a very specific way and fried up :')
No sound at the end…
Not a vegan here but a mushroom lover. You should try a fried chicken of the woods sandwich with pink oysters instead of bacon. 👌
I might try that lowkey...
Cold tofurkey for me. I think it's best to sever your ties with the idea of animal products being food ASAP.
This looks delicious! I'm not vegan, but vegan cousins can be so creative and wonderful!
Not vegan and don't plan to but these do look amazing, and vegan food is crazy innovative, like I'd never think of half these things
I’d love to see a vegan version of spam, would be epic if it could be higher in protein than the meat version.
Vsauce can cook also. Damn
what if you combined the 3 different kinds of pulled pork into one sandwich
I am not planning to go vegan or vegetarian at all, but i really like learning cooking tips from vegans, because they have to experiment and learn new things to replicate same food in different ways. For example, this sandwich looks much easier to cook than pulled pork!
Not gonna lie, I would be interested in mushroom looking like shredded chicken
That's what I did. I ate the same kinds of foods but took the animals out of them. I made potato scramble instead of egg scramble. I made goulash with kidney beans instead of meat and stuff like that. It was very easy.
ahh goulash is so good!
@@eepyvoneeplestan Yep. Goulash is underrated.

I tried this and I have to say in pretty suprised, but then again this couldn't replace the original for me, I'm open to not eating animals, but I need the transition to be a seamless as possible. I look to company like beyond meat who have no difference in taste
I’m coming to your house for that burger right now god damn
I totally respect the vegans and the effort they put in to live a cleaner lifestyle. My main issue is that the protein is harder to match compared to non vegan. Also, the protein is often less bio-available.
My favorite is completely vegan, it consists of soy sauce, tofu, sugar, tomato, eggplant, and a few spices.
