Matt, I began following your channel when you were an impoverished craftsman trying to give it a go. I saw myself in your creations. Regrettably you’ve left me behind. I haven’t the ability to keep up with you any longer. Please remember us simple people as you continue to soar above your competition. I wish you only the best and I will treasure my memories of “the before.”
God speed.
Thank you
Hi Matt, I’ve only just come across your channel. It’s nice to see a UK based woodworker on RUclips. Thanks for the breakdown on this saw. I, like you, wish I’d gone for this saw. I have the dewalt site saw. It’s not too bad if you tune it up properly, but I feel it’s not a spot on the Axminster. That’s two mistakes I’ve made with saws. First I brought the festool KS60, and can’t get a square cut out of it and then the Dewalt job site saw. Having heard you say that you no longer feel the need for a cross cut saw just added insult to injury. Anyway, thanks for such a comprehensive overview.
Hi Matt had my sew must be 5 years now and love it also very quiet 🍺🍺👍👍
A quiet saw it great to use
Brian Gardner Hi, Do you use any specific blade to help reduce noise? Also do you have a dust/chip extraction system chosen for lower noise level?
Thanks.
Woohoo, congratulations on the upgrade, mate.👍🏽
You must be absolutely chuffed!
Yes I really am
Ive been looking at this saw for a while but concerned about the fence only being secured at one end so i would really appreciate this to be mentioned in the upcoming review. Great video and congrats on the new saw.
I will try and talk about it
Hi, I'm Matt from Badger Workshop and I am addicted to buying tablesaws. Only kidding :) looks brilliant.
Thanks Spence
Great videos on this table saw Matt, Just got mine today and your review and setup really helped me with setting it up. Thanks.
Hi Matt, glad you have got this fantastic piece of kit, i have the same saw and it has been very good and can't get over how quiet the motor is, good luck and will look forward to more videos about the saw.
I so nice to use a quiet machine
@@Badgerworkshop Yes indeed, my next upgrade will be to get a numatic vacuum like the one you reviewed before, for more quietness and more suction, i recommend when the blade on your new saw goes, replace it with a Freud one as the Axcaliber dont seem to stay that long.
Nicely done and it looks like quite a step up. Congratulations.
Thank you Ken
I have the same saw. It's very good. Took me a long time to set up but worth the effort. Hope you love yours as much as I love mine
Peter Curtis Hi, do you use any specific blades to also keep noise down with that saw? Also do you have any specific dust extraction arrangement with low noise in mind?
Thanks.
Thanks Peter. So far I am very happy
Nice one Matt. I was way out with the Kapex. I have the older version of this saw. The improvements they have made since mine was purchased is amazing. Just wish it had them . Good luck with it. G
Thank you Gary
Nice Matt - it looks SO much better than its predecessor, which I looked at over a year ago but didn't buy. Looking forward to the review. Enjoy !
Thank you. I will tell you more in a few weeks
Very cool table saw Matt, optional sliding table is well handy. Axminster Craft machines look well made, we have a morticer and a sanding machine from this Craft range at school and we were well impressed with them. Great video and enjoy your saw 🙂👍
It is handy. I would like a sander
Looks like a nice saw. It'll be interesting to see your review when you've been using it.
It’s great. I will tell you more in a few weeks
Matt, the Axminster looks very similar to your Draper CTS200. With the Draper you said the 1100w motor was underpowered and you hated the sliding carriage, so very surprised to see you buy another 1100w saw with a sliding carriage. Will wait with interest to see how you get on with this one. Your build video was really top notch!
They look the same but are such different machines
V good overview of this table saw. Looking forward to your ‘one month on’ reflections.
Excellent timing for me as I've been looking at them all especially this one (want an induction motor due to noise) so hopefully this might be the one.
Noise is a big factor for me too, so I've been looking at this as an option. 81db for this one according to the website.
It runs very quietly. My extractor is louder
It is really quiet, in the right workspace, you can use it without ear defenders for a few small cuts if you're not putting on an extractor for them
Congratulations on the new saw! It will be nice to see this in use in your future videos :D
Thank you
I have one of these for a year now, very pleased with it. The only criticism I have is that it does not tilt to a full 45 degrees. I have made some zero clearance inserts which also help when doing cuts in narrow material. For the money nothing else comes close to this. For my needs it fits the bill.
I need to make an insert plate for mine
I hope you enjoy using the saw! It seens to be a very nice machine!
Thank you. It is very nice
This video was very helpful, as well as your review help a lot in desiding on an upgrade saw(from an evolution) I think these saws are the some of only cast iron, which I really want, I'm in a garden shed but didn't really want another contractor type saw.
I am very pleased with mine
Excellent work as always. Been watching you videos for a while and always pick up inspiration and ideas.
Thank you very much
That's a solid looking piece of kit. I'm sure it'll serve you for a very long time.
Thank you. I think it will
Hi Matt, good luck with the new table saw, if you do not like it, just send it to me in Australia.
Hate to tell you I like it
Wow. That looks like a serious piece of kit!
It really it
Belle machine,il n'y a plus qu'à s'en servir !!! Bonne continuation à bientôt salut Jeannot 🛠😉
Looks like a great piece of kit Matt. Looking forward to seeing it in future projects 😀
Thank you. I am very pleased
Very nice Matt ! Now there’s a problem , I want ! 😆👍🏻
It’s a great saw
Fantastic video Matt , you must gave a garage full of saws of various ages and types lol
Thank you Iain
I am looking at one of these for myself but have seen a few issues with the table/blade level, tape measure alignment and the fence rigidity. So I am waiting for your update as to whether I make the purchase or not, I wouldn’t bother with the sliding table after just getting rid of one of these but I would be looking at the wheel base that they sell for this.
Really cool Matt! 😃👍🏻👊🏻 .... looking forward to your thoughts and full review!
Thank you. My thoughts coming soon
Pleased for you Matt - looking forward to hearing your thoughts but I'm sure you're going to love it 😉
Thank you Phil
Looking forward to the update to see what you think!
So far very pleased but will show you more in a few weeks.
Nice one :) now all the table saw change arounds make sense I was looking at the charnwood W 629 which is in the same price range so I will be very interested to see how you go with this.
I will tell you more about it soon
Phil Rogers hi, I had the 8 inch Charnwood and got rid of it, motor was under powered, blade alignment not good despite lots of fettling, fence was terrible, sliding table had constant alignment, issue, replaced with Dewalt Dw745, cheaper better, bigger, way more accurate, awesome fence, of course louder not being induction, I squared that piece with the view that my extractor is louder than both .... interested to see how this Axminster saw goes but it has a low power motor.. 👍
That looks like a neat table saw. Looking forward to seeing how it performs 👍
It’s great. I will show you more soon
Hello Matt looks really good
Thank you
Looks like a quality bit of kit!
It really is
Thank you for another saw I have had my eye on !
I will tell you more about it soon
@@Badgerworkshop thank you. I need a good excuse to get a new one as my old Clarke one was a gift off my wife.
I have the same saw - really good price for what you get with it. I also found the attaching the internal dust hose the trickiest bit. Will be looking to get the sliding table attachment based on your recommendation :)
I’m glad it was not only me who struggled with that part
@@Badgerworkshop I didn't take the shroud off though, I got the hose attached to that, then attached it to the other end before screwing port into the frame
Great Saw Matt, Stay Safe Mate !!!.
Thanks. You too
Can't beat a bit of Meccano in the morning!👍👍👍👍👍👍😁😁😁😎
It’s a great way to start the day
Hi Matt.
Ive unboxed my one and i already have a list of alignments that needs doing before passing any wood through..
Plus..i already checked the blade and is having a little bit of a play....
So..why we Don't discuss about issues first...as this saw has lots to sort out
That s why you look so happy , because you did something that you should not !!!!!!! I would love to see a review . Between a plunge saw and a circular saw what would it be best for first time to buy ?
I love my plunge saw I stoped using the circular saw when I got it
nice saw ....great vid...can't wait to see what you can make with this...cheers,be safe from ontario canada
Thank you very much
Nice unboxing and assembly. Thanks.
I have also been oogling over this saw for a long time. The induction motor low noise thing is one big aspect I like.
I’m curious about partnering other things like blades and dust/chip extraction to also keep the noise down. If you notice a difference in noise between blades, please let us know.
Also, like others have mentioned, I’m looking forward to seeing how you get on with that sliding extension. I never thought it might replace a miter saw! Nice idea. I’m currently thinking that a diy sled with bells on it will approximate the same. Perhaps you we’ll be able to comment after some use.
Thanks again.
I will try and cover some of that in a future video
Hi Matt looks good, for attaching any hose dip in very hot nae boiling water for few minuets dry then add some lube , keep up the good work,
G.
Good tips
I’ve been eyeing one of these up for a while now can’t wait to see your review 👍🏻
I’m loving it so far
Thank you, looking forward to your evaluation after 1 month use!
Thank you
Great video again Matt , looking forward to the review video . Looks like a solid piece of kit , guessing the mitre saw station will be updated next as with the cool sliding table set up you will no longer need a mitre saw . Stay safe and keep the good work up :) .
Thank you. Yes the mitre saw is out of the workshop
@@Badgerworkshop I bet that has freed up some room in the shop now :) .
You look happy and I'm happy for you ;-)
I am happy. Thank you
I thought for a second you were going to say “I’m going to use it for a month before I get bored and swap it for another one” 🤣.
Lovely looking saw Matt, with some even better concentration faces! I dunno, some people stockpile bog roll, not Matt, he stockpiles tablesaws!
You never know when we will run out
Lovely. You must be só chaffed! Enjoy!
You're not being stupid, I found that internal hose the hardest part as well! 😁
Thank you. I feel better now
Proper jealous Matt....well done mate!!!
Thank you
looks good great video thanks
Thank you
Hi Matt, nice video. I’ve been looking at getting one of these for a while, and just ordered it earlier today, arrives tomorrow morning! Didn’t order the sliding table, was concerned about space in my little workshop, but will be interested to see how you get on with yours.
The sliding table does take up some space. A good mitre gauge should work as well
Thanks for this detailed review! I have the Bosch GTS 10 J that you had before. :) I'm very interested to hear your thoughts on this saw in regards to the difference in blade size and power compared to your previous saw. Looks like a beautiful bit of kit, congrats!
Thank you
Thank you for the video! Looking very much forward to your review, I'm almost convinced to click buy on this one, but I want to hear someone else's opinion about it first.
Video with more info will be out in a few weeks
This looks just up my streel but isn't the fence a wee bit flimsy?
Good to see you're continuing your one-man campaign to keep the table saw industry in business, Matt.
I'm actually really glad to see you've got this, as there are surprisingly few reviews of this Ax on RUclips. It seems to me that all the saws you've had apart from the first (the Bosch GTS 10 XC) and this one can be discounted - but I (and I suspect a lot of other people) would be really interested in your thoughts comparing the two. Do you think the smaller blade on the Ax will be an issue? Was the Bosch significantly noisier?
The Bosch was much louder. I’m not worried about the blade size but then I still have my old 12” multico saw
What was the issue with Milwaukee? You seemed happy with it previously
Looks a nice bit of kit.. I'll be interested in your review.. I'll be in the market for a grown up table saw
Very pleased with it. I will tell you more soon
Health to enjoy my friend.
Thank you
That's cheaper than some work site saws!! That's amazing I'm going to think about getting one of these... I hate my table saw...
I am very pleased so far. I will tell you more in a few weeks
@@Badgerworkshop please Matt looks like a great saw. What was up with the milwaukee saw? That looked good.
Looks a great unit. Is the arbor capable of taking a stack of Dado blades? If so how wide a stack wilt take? Cheers
Not in the uk
Is there any sideways movement (wobble) on the blade? I have the Evolution Rage5 table saw and the blade appears to be loose but it’s definitely tight on the nut. I’d upgrade to the Axminster if it was solid.
No movement.
Nice video as always 👍 interested to see how this copes with some chunky hardwood🤔
Thank you
Whats the volume of this saw when it running?
My dewalt is far to noisy
Hi Matt, I've just bought the same saw and so far very pleased with it. Just a quick question, does the rising of the blade height handle seem a lot harder to raise than the lowering action? Mine seems much harder to raise, I'm assuming this is just because of the motors weight? The tilting handle is smooth in both directions and looking at a clip of you making the box jigs it seems yours is looking harder to raise the blade too, any feedback would be greatly appreciated, BTW so far I love it, very quiet and smooth.
It always harder to raise then fall. Is the locking knob fully undone ?
@@Badgerworkshop yes the locking knob is unscrewed fully, I think its just down to the weight of the motor and mechanism of the gearing but thanks for replying Matt and hope we both get the best out of our new purchase, Im looking forward to your review with interest. Great channel by the way, keep it up I watch all your videos and find them all interesting. Thanks again Matt, stay safe and enjoy the new saw, cheers, Mick
This looks like your final saw...hope so.. Cheers Matt
Thank you. So do i
Im Saving up for a decent table saw. All I have is a cheap one which I hate. I'm interested to hear what you have to say about this one. I've got my eye on the Dewalt dw745 at the moment.
Everyone loves the dewalt apart from how loud it is
Looks good mate got mine from wickes
Thank you
Don't forget to align the mitre slots and rip fence with your blade - I predict another video for that. The sliding table also needs to run parallel to the the blade or you'll get weirdness happening when you make cuts.
Already done
I'm really looking forward to your comming review of this Axminister saw :-) - at the moment I'm seriously in doubt wheather to go with the "Milwaukee M18 FTS210" (that you have reviewed earlier) or this Axminister one for my new shop?
Both are good. Depends if you want a saw set up all the time or one you can pack away
@@Badgerworkshop I wil have space for a permantly saw in my new workshop. But what is extreamly important to me is:
- A good, precice and steady ripping fence.
- Good steady crosscut abilities (or the ability to use aftermaket miter gauge to achieve this).
- Good dust extraction
Loudness and the ability to cut large boards is not that important in my case.
Hmm, I allmost bought the Milwaukee last week, but now I surely will wait undtil your next review on the Axminister before I decide.
By the way, I just love your honest reviews on different brands of tools :-)...so THANKS! - many other reviews from RUclipsrs there is sponsored by manufacturers, look more like advertising instead of honesly reviews :-(
Now that is beyond sexy!
I’ve wanted one for a while but figured I didn’t have enough space. I’ll be interested in your update as I have a similar amount of space to you. Better start saving my pennies I think.
It’s great. I will tell you more soon
Badger Workshop tidy.
I’m looking for a table saw too and have been following your reviews. I emailed Axminister re this saw a week ago and am still waiting a reply.. I hope it’s powerful enough for your needs. I’m looking forward to your independent review as always. Thanks for your vlogs so far. Good luck with the saw..
Thank you. I will show you more about it soon
Your like Diresta with bandsaws. 🤣 Looks like a nice bit of kit though. 👍
I wish I was like Diresta
It will be interesting to see if you miss having a larger bladed saw. Looks great though.
Thank you
Just wondering, can the mitregauge fence be flipped around like a normal format saw where push the piece against the fence in the forward position?
No it only goes to 45°
Hi Matt, what happened to the Milwaukee? I liked the look of the roving knife setup. That is the most frustrating thing about my saw as you can't do those cuts that the lower roving knife allows. What's the deal with that sort of process on the Axminster?
I will make a second riving knife for this saw
Looks great but I have a very small workshop. What are the width and length dimensions when fitted with the sliding carriage?
134cm wide 124cm long
Looks a decent quality saw! Look forward to your review! Is there much play in the sliding table?
No it’s very good and can be adjusted
Thanks for the reply Matt. I’ve just had a reply to my enquiry from Axminster. The riving knife can’t be lowered for cutting dados and rebates etc. Axminster say they can’t recommend using the saw without the riving knife. One of the reasons for me wanting a table saw is for repetitive cutting dados and rebates for bookcases etc. If I can’t do this with the Axminster, I may have to buy the much noisier Milwaukee. I really don’t like dust intensive routers or setting up a guide rail for repetitive cuts. Do you cut or intend to cut dados etc with the Axminster? Will you be reviewing this aspect in your review? Cheers.
Matt's made a video before called "Making A Riving Knife
" for one of his previous saws to allow for dado cuts
Yes it pretty easy to make a riving knife to do that cut and that’s what I will do
Is this better than the Bosch and Milwaukee portable saws you had? They looked expensive and decent and I was surprised each time when you moved on to another saw. Be good to get a full comparison between all the table saws you have used.
They were good but this is in a different class
@@Badgerworkshop Thanks, can I ask why you got rid of them?
looks like a good saw.
Thank you
Let's see how long this one lasts! You go through table saws almost as fast as danish oil and brass!
Not bad for £800 like, although I could buy another 7 of my Aldi Workzone saws for that!
That danish oil lasts me ages
Excited to see you get this and looking forward to your review of it soon! Do you know the length between the start of the blade to the sliding fence when its pulled back? This would be a big decider for me when cutting panels down.
+1 for this question. Wondering the same. Plus depth and width of the whole setup with sliding table installed (i.e. how far does the slider stick out on front and back, how wide is the table saw with the sliding table, incl. / excl. right side extensions)
The way I have it set give you 56cm. But you could move the rail further back
One thing that I;ve found annoying, after using this particular model for several months is the "wiggly" fence. E..g you align fence, move it to the desired distance and start locking it - immediately the end of the fence, in my case - moves to the right, a little bit, but enough so cut going to be slightly tapered. I've tried this and that, so far _almost success_ - after I've manually added some washers under 2 screws in the locking block, but still. Not perfect. The riving knife, on my instance - had ben skewed/bent. On other things - very good saw.
Looks the part matt 👍
I am very pleased with it
Badger Workshop I keep looking at the Axminster craft edition for upgrades I’ll be interested in your thoughts on it
Hey Matt, really enjoyed the video thank you.
I'm looking to buy my first table saw. I've been torn between a bosch gts 10j or whether to spend the extra on the Craft saw and hopefully never need to upgrade in the future.
As you've had both saws, could i ask your advice? Is the difference in quality, accuracy etc significant and worth the extra investment? Have you found any disadvantage of a 216mm blade over a 254mm?
Thanks for any help.
They are both very good saws. For me the main advantages of the Axminster one is the standard size mitre slots the the quiet induction motor
Nice, thank you.
Thank you
Matt you get thru table saws like I get thru teabags ha ha . What was the problem with the Clarke? My bro in law got that same saw he loves it.
This is in a different class and means I could loose the mitre saw
Badger Workshop that would be interesting to find out as my mitre saw is on its way out and I would like to not replace it. I notice that Matthias Wandel doesn’t have one and doesn’t seem to need one.
Good morning
I wanted to ask you if you are satisfied with the Craft AC216TS 216mm Table Saw and, therefore, would you recommend buying it.
See you soon
Stefano Menicucci
You go through table saws like my wife goes through boots... except I’m guessing you sell the ones you don’t use anymore!
What was wrong with the Bosch and the Milwaukee? The Bosch in particular I’ve seen very good reviews of..
How is here a birthday boy? 😊👍👍👍👍
I am a very happy badger
Lol.
Lol.
I remember you sending me a picture of this saw following your openday visit to Axminster and I must admit I was very interested but ultimately a chap in Axminster Basingstoke introduced me to the Bosch GTS 10XC and I was sold. I will be interested to see how you get on over the next month or so, especially with the sliding table which is the one feature I questioned. Is the space it takes up worth the benefit of having it. Anyway great build video. All the best. K.
Thank you. For me the sliding table let’s me get rid of the mitre saw so overall I have more space.
Badger Workshop Yes - of course that makes sense. The Bosch has a small sliding table which I do find really useful but I can’t quite let go of the mitre saw. My only niggle when discussing the Ac216Ts with the Axminster chap was the lack of a right hand side table and extended fence as they has on the TS250 I do like to be able to have a half-sheet ripping capability on a fable saw, as the Milwaukee had.
I buy the bosch based on your review and then you get this one 😂😂 saying that, im happy with the bosch as i dont have the space yet for a permanent cabinet saw👍
The Bosch is a very good machine
A beast of a saw! Good to see you without the Cumings tea cosy ;-)
It’s almost warm here
Matt, great video as usual. I hope they've improved the dust extraction from the old Hobby saws, they literally didn't suck. Axminster have at least seen fit to put 3/4" standard mitre slots in the table now. One question, is the fence scale still in 1/10" increments for the imperial scale or have they corrected that and made it 4R fractional?
It is fractions but I work in metric
I wonder if there is an equivalent model available in the US?
I’m not sure. We don’t seem to have the same machines
Badger Workshop I see a lot of woodworking tools branded under different company’s names. Especially store brand imported tools.
It does look like a nice saw. I still have my Bosch portable table saw I bought after seeing yours a few years ago.
The Bosch is a great saw
