Yes. If you're in a busy area and your vehicle is on the higher tiers, turning off X is often a good strategy. If they're not getting matched or the pickup eta is faster, a lot of X riders will order a comfort or XL or whatever just because they don't want to wait.
You're in a market with a steady flow of incoming pings. A lot of markets are so oversaturated with drivers, you can wait 10, 15, 20+ minutes for a ping.
@@DriveLikeASniper My way of dealing with driver oversaturation, most drivers aren't going to want to hear. As driver pay keeps getting squeezed lower, whether by directly lower pay offers or longer and longer deadtime between profitable pings, I drive FEWER hours. NOT more.
I do deliveries around East Hollywood/Silver lake and it looks like there's a lot of offers coming in during the late night on the west side- probably not something I can do because I have kids and a day job. I can still get around $1/min for many orders in my area even without passenger rides.
I feel you for sure. Keep your spirits up and see where you can adjust your strategy to maximize your profits. One of the best lessons I got was talking to another Lyft driver at the supercharger. He helped me so much, we’re a community willing to pass the game forward.
I don’t get it bro, you got a $12 ride for 18 minutes but declined it, then spend 45 minutes declining rides and accepted a $6 ride? So you made like $6 in almost an hour?
My guy, thank you for bringing this up. I hope I don’t come across like I’m the best this and that. I’m a driver just like you and my goal is to take profitable rides and show others how to spot them. The $12 ride was too many miles for me. You have to factor in opportunity cost, for 1 ride, 6 mins and $6 and for 1 mile that makes sense to me. So for your logic of 18 mins, I’m better off taking $18 profit in same time frame versus $12. But again this is all opinion and I’m glad you have one and felt comfortable to share it. Keep bringing the content, I appreciate it and I’m sure others do too. Be blessed
Looks like dfw 6 months ago when I used to drive.. first year I made a easy 25/35 an hour my last month I would struggle to make 20 a hour before expenses. It's a lose lose situation for both drivers and riders
@DriveLikeASniper thanks I definitely liked driving for lyft and uber. I'm a people person very kind professional and definitely kept up with my car. I would vacuum it daily and wash the outside every other day. I stopped when someone ran a red-light then drove off while my car was disabled. I was ok the car was a mess that last run actually had the highest paid surge I had ever seen. The surge was 25 dollars from a concert. Learned alot of lessons that night.
I'm picking trips that's worth my time and pays my bills. I'm not taking none of these trips on this video. Uber can go pick them people up themselves without my car if Uber/Lyft doesn't pay. Good luck to Uber/Lyft picking up millions of people without our cars. Uber/Lyft would go bankrupt before drivers. Drivers could find new jobs without Uber/Lyft. But, what would Uber/Lyft do without other people's cars??? They would beg drivers to driver💯
I like cherry picking. It’s like a skill set u know, like each day I’m picking which rides I want and get a chance to change strategy. I’ve pivoted from short rides to mostly airport and back to short rides all based on the LA market. What’s your market?
It really doesn’t make sense in a normal day. In this context, it’s more to show the type of ride to accept. Trying to show how when driving to have a strategy. It’s like muscle memory for picking rides in the ride share world
definitely will not get fired, in fact- you don't get fired since they are not your employer. You as an independent contractor get to pick the rides/deliveries that are profitable to you. My acceptance rate is around 5-13% depending on the week. 5.0 Lyft, and 4.99 Uber ratings, cancellation is around 5.5% for Uber. only thing that matters in this game is profits ebayz
they can not get fired you , because u are self employed, contractor with them, you have a right to accept or decline all rides u want, you are not their employee, so you are OK to accept or decline any rides you want.... that s normal for all gig workers.
Ideally 6 mile limit when it’s busy so you stay in the money. If it’s dead, I’ll go around 17/18 miles. On a comfort electric ride, I’ll go as long as the trip as at least $2 per mile as long as no traffic. The ride has to be profitable enough that even if you have to come back on an empty leg it’s worth it.
Duh, we keep our cars off! When I do this, I'm not driving or idling myself. I don’t get why you guys in traffic heavy markets like LA base is on $ per mile and not $ per minute? To drive 3 miles from my home in Santa Monica to Costco in MDR could take anywhere from 10 minutes to 40 minutes depending on time of day.. You’re wasting time/money waiting for a high dollar per mile ride which could take an hour in traffic, doesn’t make sense. Especially for those of us with Teslas, we’re spending jack on fuel compared to gas cars.
Also another word of advice, although the dollar per hour rate is typically lower with Lyft, you get the $150 EV bonus after 50 rides, which averages my dollar per hour higher than Uber. In addition, I notice on average 40% of my rides with Lyft tip, on Uber it’s been 10% lately, imagine that! Must be another Uber “system bug“ (tip scalping).
I rarely drive in traffic to be honest. If I’m not taking a profitable ride, I’m watching Netflix/Hulu on the Tesla. So now wasted resources and not losing opportunity cost if a Lyft black ride pops up. I like my system, I made 2k last week and drove 37 hours.
@@DriveLikeASniper To each is own I guess, props to you if your system works and you’re happy with what you’re doing, I’m not here to judge. You might have 37 active hours, but 70+ online. Personally the dinging sound and cherry picking would drive me nuts at 70+ hours lol, but that’s just me. I’m hoping when the summer comes around again that I can average $45 an hour even when I’m not cherry picking, I guess we’ll see.. BTW how often do you supercharge at Santa Monica & 14th??
The thing is a lot of the times I’m o line at home, I only have comfort electric available and deliveries for rush hour. Those would be the only rides that would get me out the house or a Lyft black. So I’m always gonna have tons of online hours. I’ve been online since 3 pm today and literally took a nap, gave my dog a bath, listened to a legal class and ate dinner. I picked up a few reservations for the morning which is another reason to stay online- u get them first before peeps offline. For supercharger, rarely bc I generally charge overnight at home. What do u drive, and I’ll look out for u
@@DriveLikeASniper That makes sense. An app you might want to check out is called Mystro, it will automatically accept rides for you based on your specifications (dollar per mile/max distance/minimum $ amount/etc). I have a blue Model 3 Performance, I almost always park facing the building/restrooms (that way I don’t have headlights shining in my eyes). Perhaps I’ll see you around!
I’m not going past 2 miles at the very most for $6. No chance. Typically a little over 1 mile. That’s bc I won’t take bs trips. I’ll stay home before I do that.
How are you still a gold driver declining every ride April Fool’s day is profitable all you drivers watching this video better be Striking!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
In Cali market, AR isn’t a factor for tiers. What’s crazy is I was actually 7 points from diamond a few months ago but I ran out of time last day of the period. AR and tiers doesn’t matter, just profits is what I’m after.
if all of us do this they would have to give us better offers, rite? dont be desperate. if we all did this for just a day, the gigs would feel the heat, dont ya think? your car and taxes are being exploited. we deserve better
@@DriveLikeASniper it’s hard to tell how good your offers are because I use km I live in Canada but it seems your getting a lot of under 1 dollar per km order which I would do. But be blessed your getting so many orders I’ll wait 30 mins before I get one you get one every 5 seconds ffs

Knoxville area is not allowed to know what a ride pays or where it goes. It's insanity.
So how do you form your strategy there? Do you go by certain areas, timeframe on driving, etc? That’s really interesting and unfair to me.
You're in a market with a steady flow of incoming pings. A lot of markets are so oversaturated with drivers, you can wait 10, 15, 20+ minutes for a ping.
I like how you explained this. Any strategies for you that you’d like to share of how you navigate the challenges of an oversaturated market?

This is the best strategy to work.
Only decline to get better fares 👌
Repeat!!!
You declined more offers in one session than I get requests in a day. I only do delivery though.
What’s your market and how come only delivery?
I do deliveries around East Hollywood/Silver lake and it looks like there's a lot of offers coming in during the late night on the west side- probably not something I can do because I have kids and a day job. I can still get around $1/min for many orders in my area even without passenger rides.
They lowered Uber eats pay so much I’m truly disgusted with this company.

This is smart. Because these mfs will have you going crazy around the city with no profit and wore tf out
Shiiiiiit they used to! That’s for damn sure. Now, I get my own “surge” whenever it makes sense
Those offers are uber X offers on a comfort vehicle. I bet uber is charging comfort prices but paying X prices
But stilll take only profitable rides. I don’t care what they call the ride. Just pay me my $

I don’t see the upfront fee or the time or the miles for Uber X. What gives?
I’m in Cali market and we have that. I think it’s bullshit every market doesn’t have that transparency
Course i don't have a choice because there's freaking Uber drivers every 100 yard's in my city i swear.
Might have to change strategy if too many drivers around time u drive. No Shame in that.
Damn! He almost made a rack in a day!
It takes strategy for sure
Did anyway watch till the end? I think it was kinda ridiculous to spend 45 mins of your life just waiting to only end up getting a 6 dollar ride…
I agree w u. We use our experiences as teaching moments to get better.
AR like 0.0001% and he makes thousands 😂😂😂
And I’m so much better now than I was then. It’s offers are worse but I’m smarter about getting my coin
