    Learn something new every day! For me, it was scaling in a negative direction to mirror objects (my old way was tedious). The other was for how to handle those darned tapers! Thanks for the video, very informative!

    Great tutorial. I'm still new to Sketchup, so when I came to around 6:40 where you duplicated the rails I was quite proud of myself to try a different technique, i.e. first creating a midpoint on the table surface, then selecting the two rails. I chose the rotate tool, positioned it on the midpoint and also pressed CTRL. Rotated the copy 180 degrees and came to the same result ! :)

    I guess I need to start designing my projects in Feet and Inches as I mostly just use meters. Guess using feet and inches is the more architect way of doing things. Thanks for the tutorial. This will definitely come in handy as for my projects I have to build everything.

    Thanks for an informative, rapid fire run through on this design.👍 It was thought provoking and a cool design. This is consumable by someone with intermediate to advanced skills in SketchUp.
    With so many views and comments, this may either already be answered or it may no longer be feasible for you to answer... There was a flurry of steps at the end involving addition of shadows and other features. I don’t have a clue how to do any of those things. You might consider a follow on video that slows down those features and explains the command, where to find it and what its implications are.

    Great intermediate video and very well presented, thank you.
    I've never done anything like this before and I need to design / build two desks. both desks require a 'keyboard' drawer, where I have to use specific drawer runners / slides. How do I add these in - I have the measurements from the manufacturers site, but until the drawer has been measured, and allowances for the 'slides / runners' at each side, I won't know the proper width of the table top.
    Any advice please?

    A simpler way to get the rotated parts is add a corner/corner diagonal line and rotate them about the center. It will save many steps. Also the computer usage "should" be lower as it doesn't have to calculate the minus scale.

      +Trang Hoàng never mind, I figured that out :) I forgot to click edit component and it got pulled up because I was creating something new out of it, but it didn't get pushed down because it has to do with the component. Aha!

    Nice video, trying to figure out how you used some features... like when you changed the opacity of the top of the leg, near the supports, to erase unwanted lines... also... when I tried to put in my screw holes on the under side of my table it wasn't allowing me to counter sink, so... first off I realized my guide lines were not on my under side of table top but on the under side of table supports... fixed that, then tried again... still not working... so exploded the component of the table top... anyways... fixing the mistakes I make, as I go, is helping me to learn the program better... good luck everyone, Thanks for the video... looking forward to improving my skills.....

    • @TinoBurset
      @TinoBurset 4 года назад

      I think that when he changed the opacity to delete hidden unwanted lines he used the 'K' key, but I can't find what the name of the tool is or where to toggle it with the mouse. But K (in my case) does what you mean.

      as long as you are creating something from scratch, it doesnt matter what program you use. just like creating an image from scratch in photoshop, doesnt suddenly make it adobe's property. i could be just misunderstanding your issue completely but when you create something original, its yours. you own it no matter what you used to make it.

    • @AaronBishopDesign
      @AaronBishopDesign  9 лет назад +2

      Typically what I would do in a situation like that is duplicate the object and delete the items you don't want in the group. Creating groups that are attached to unselected faces will prevent them from grouping properly.
