+Aaron Bishop Hello, super enjoy your videos. I am using the most current SketchUp version and when I try to create the eaves by creating an offset under the house and pushing that offset to the roof line it isn't working. Instead it's creating a hollow space between the outside walls of the house and the inside of the offset area I created under the house. Any suggestions on what's going on?
Yes it is possible. I must apologize again for not posting in quite a while; I've had to keep much of my focus on other projects. Hopefully 2017 will give me some more time to get back into filming some more videos. Cheers!
this is the kind of tutorial instructors that I like to watch and follow (fast and strait forward to the point) not wasting time, and that's why I hit the subscribe and the bill button right away :) GOOD JOB bro. keep it coming Thanks...........
Mind Boggling... I think I watched this about 6 years ago.. tried SketchUp .. here it is years later and I thought I would try it out again.. Excellent tutorial :)
...thanks a lot!! Could you also explain the process how to build a house and using layers, components and groups. And also where should i put my help lines? On which layer. Because i not alsways want to see this help lines from the measuring tool.
thanks alot this is very helpful I am just starting, but I can see using your examples will be almost all I need, I'll probaby watch them several times each. My only suggestion, you go so fast! Pretend you are talking to people who don't everything memorized like you do!!, Still its really great sharing of your knowledge and we are lucky you are being so generious with something that probably took years to master . thanks again
Sketchup is so damn easy that most architects don't take it seriously. They think it's for laymen. But it's not true. Sketchup is a good way explore ur idea. Cad, Revit always there to final touch.
I am having trouble making the roof. I hold shift, select the two lines, then go to the move tool, hit alt then click on it. When I click on the move tool, the lines stop being highlighted and then I can't pull them up to make the roof. What am I doing wrong?
please help ... when i select the roof lines with the line tool an shift key , as soon as i select the push / pull tool they all deselect and i cant push or pull , with te alt/option key ,,, im on a mac
Aaron.. I understand the procedure for "reversing faces" but do not understand why it was necessary here (you did it immediately after creating the two rectangles and deleting the shared edge in this video). Why was this necessary? Why did the two rectangles not "automatically" (i.e. by default) open with the correct ("outside") face(s) showing after you created the first/simple rectangles?
+Shapnil Khan The most useful ones I use would include: Round Corner, Artisan Toolset, Bezier Curve, Soap Skin, and for rendering I use VRay. If you're looking for a rendering engine that's a little easier to wrap your head around, try Shaderlight. Cheers!
hello Mr Bishop I need to ask few questions where do I get this all materials because I don't have this shadow and camera views how to get this all features can you please help me
I did everything this person did and my house footprint would not form on the "ground" -- just always made a 2d style wall aligned with the blue line. Tried rotating so never had to be near blue line no avail. Unsure why I am so clueless. Make it look so easy.
The measurements seem off. Large box is 30' by 15'? and smaller box is 20' by 10'? But the larger box is definitely more than twice the size of the smaller box. Confused, because on my model the dimensions are so different.
Hello Arron, I like your video. Thanks for making it. I am looking to learn a 3d modelling software. If I wanted to save a design and import it into photoshop can this be done with this software? what file type can it save a still image with? Also can a animanated video be made? A corporate style video? Also I have noticed a lot of straight line designs but can you make modern type architecture. sydney opera house typeof design? thanks.
Something is wrong with your measurements. You typed in 20',10' and then 35',15' but shortened it by 5' so then it would be 30',15'. The problem is that on the X axis, there is 20' on the first rectangle and there is 30' on the second rectangle but the second rectangle looks more than 10' longer than the first rectangle on the X axis. If the first is 20' on X axis and the second is 30' on X axis, then it should only be 10' longer but it looks more like 20' feet longer. What is wrong?
I'm trying to figure out the same thing. I put in the same numbers as him, and my dimensions are clearly way off. As far as I can tell, the second rectangle on his is actually more like 40'x20'. But I can't figure out how that happened because he clearly types in 35'x15' before shortening it.
I THINK I FINALLY FIGURED IT OUT!! After like maybe an hour of endlessly fucking around with the settings I figured out what the problem is. It's nothing we did wrong. for the first rectangle, he types in 25',10' All good and dandy there. for the second rectangle however he makes the very mistake he warns us not to make lol : He types in " 35'15' " with no comma in the middle. That's why his thing is larger. I don't know why the program does this, and I personally don't understand the significance of the comma in the measurements because I suck at math, but if you don't type in the comma for the second measurement you should end up with the same thing he has.
Not only was this an incredibly helpful tutorial, Ludovico Einaudi is one of my favourite composers - thanks so much for your help

Is it possible to get shapes as accurate as 1/16" ? Also, is this channel done cause you haven't posted since your "I'm not dead" comment.

+Bob Mailer It isn't strictly necessary, perhaps I'm just a little OCD and like all of my model's faces to be the same colour.
Can you tell which plugins are you using.. or help with a simple list of most useful plugins?
Thanks in advance :)

Is this the paid program or the free version. Cant seem to find all the tools that you used during this video.

Great tutorial. Is it possible to render something like this to be photo realistic?
Yes. iRender NXT does well including other renderers. Google 'SKU renderers.'
which version of sketchup was used in this video?
I did everything this person did and my house footprint would not form on the "ground" -- just always made a 2d style wall aligned with the blue line. Tried rotating so never had to be near blue line no avail. Unsure why I am so clueless. Make it look so easy.
