- Eugene has been here for so long and changed so much. I love his character and Josh McDermitt plays him fantasticly. I swear how he remembers all those lines is amazing. So thanks Josh for all this ^^ I hope you will stay till the very end!

Eugene could be a coward and a liar, but you will not deny that he was a very intelligent man and an important piece in history, besides that he is one of the few who has maintained his humanity, he is by far the most human character in the series.
I mean he only really fucked up once which was his lie about being a scientist. Other than that, he has been very helpful to the group.

I will say this till the day I die: Eugene Porter is the single most important character to the franchise. He is quite literally Humanity's best shot at rebuilding.
He surely helped ALL communities with rebuilding and making it better. Without him, they would have had a worse time rebuilding it
I really hope eugene plays a major role with what they’re building up with the crm story

Eugene was my perfect character. But they strung out his "bad" phase a bit too long. Just like the Negan fight in general.
I didn't mind it personal. I loved it, but i can agree. It was a bit too long. Oh well, im happy watching this show none the less

I 100% agree. I kinda hated how they made us turn on Eugene when he NEVER devotes himself to Negan in the comics. I was almost rooting for his death the way the TV show handled him during AOW.
@@haza6893 yeah I’m sure this guy has actors lined up, millions of dollars in budget, props, rights to produce, and show writers all lined up. It’s constructive criticism, get over it.

I did. I was a fan of Abraham, so seeing him get past his anger and realize that Eugene's lie literally gave him a reason to keep going was a great WD moment and then Eugene nutted up and saved Tara, I've loved seeing his progression, 2 of my favorite characters.
Eugene and Abraham were the perfect duo. The scientist and the sergeant. If only Eugene hadn't been lying
The part that made me really like Eugene was his explanation to Rosita. "When I save the world. I still have to live with myself." Which may seem little when you glance at the "selfishness" of the false mission. It shows that Eugene not only cares about people, he thinks about everyone he has met. N it further proves it when he said he lied, and said the names of their group that had died
Yea, he did what he had to, to survive. I hated him a bit for that, but now a days i love him so much. He is truly a lovely character.

@@twdheart948 i liked him a lot, and agree. People think of ways that could save themselves, but the fact Eugene managed to string up a lie, and managed to get a following, and when he tried to leave and stay with Rick's group I really felt that he knew they were going to find out.

Eugene is one of those guys if he never killed a single walker, fired a single shot, and stayed completely maidenless would still represent one of the most important people to keep alive in an apocalypse. He is like a Dr. Stone or someone who has the knowledge to be able to rebuild things.
His bullets killed countless walkers, served Alexandria for years and won a war. If anything, Max isn't enough for what he deserves

I think Negan surely helped, but i think Eugene even changed before that. He tried to be a better fighter when he and Abraham went to the gun shop.
Abraham even mentioned Eugene was taking more guard duties.
But yea, Eugene got really badass when he was in charge while working for Negan. He had this evil, autority, smartypants attitude.
Also don't forget him saving Tara kinda changed him.
i just noticed out of everyone he met back in season 4 hes one of the only alive he just watched his friends die all over again and the only reason he was able to watch was because they got him there...

@@twdheart948 I think you come off as a big fan of the show with her as your pic. She represents a certain period in this show. It also reminded me of what Maggie's been through and allows me to emphasize more. The show itself should reapprise the viewers of that.
He began as the brain of the guild and ended being the heart.

People say the show died when Carl or Glenn died but imo any hope it had died when alpha killed off half the cast including Tara
@@gigaatom I agree with you 100%. Glenn dying was intense but it didn't ruin the story for me as it made sense to give him that death. Carl's death was really bad, but I eventually picked the show back up years later. However, as good as Season 9 was, I believe Angela Kang's biggest mistake was the pike scene. It honestly would've made for a much better story if they had stuck to the comic deaths, or even just Ezekiel in general. Killing Henry (and any future hope) was the nail in the coffin for the shows ratings. If they had killed Ezekiel, it would've been, not only a much sadder episode, but would've given a much needed coming of age storyline to Henry and more development for Carol instead of her just losing another child, it would've been a different kind of grief. Henry could've been with Lydia, but at the cost of losing his father and the kingdom, only to later in the series, mature and rebuild a new Kingdom in honor of Ezekiel. So many things they could've done if they had kept Henry alive, and Tara could've easily been the leader of Hilltop and gotten a well needed storyline from that. I was sad to see Enid go, but without Carl in the show, it seemed like they weren't sure what to do with her and wrote her into the background.
Eugene saved Abrahams life, he saved all of Alexandria and the Hilltop when he sabotaged the ammo as well.
Abraham slapping the water out of Eugenes hands even after he lied to him should tell you alot about his character

I'd just like to say I'm glad TWD brought a character with ASD into the mainstream, he might not be the most popular character, but he made a lot of people on the spectrum somewhat proud and I even identified with his antics sometimes

And Eugene has been one of those characters that i really loved in that way. He is so interesting to watch for me. The things he does and say.

It was never explicitly stated he has ASD and although I grew up with a mom who was a SPEDucator, ESPECIALLY after years of meeting her students and other people "on the spectrum", I still think ASD is entirely a misunderstanding of the variability of nature and of us as a species in general. Even specialists who study it have a hard time differentiating between someone with high-functioning Aspergers and someone who is just highly gifted/"genius" level IQ. Without focus and education, they can often be similarly perceived, and may even be one in the same. The truth is that the human mind is likely something we will never fully achieve complete insight of and should focus our energies on things we can obtain meaningful data over rather than obsess over things as trivial as "why do poorly adjusted people have a hard time in life". Either they fit in with humanity or they dont

The best part about the show wasn't even the zombies, it was the family dynamic of Rick's group. I think that's a lot of what the show lost once Glenn and Carl died, and Rick and Michonne left.
Eugene single handedly saved the group’s future.

Had huge character development
I just finished season 8 of this show and was completely surprised what he did with the bullets. I was convinced for sure that he had truly become “Negan”. I went back and forth on if he actually did or he was just doing what he needed to do to survive, knowing him, at first but after Rosita captured him and threatened him and then he escaped and he seemed actually pissed off… I for sure thought he realized he liked being a part of Negan. It actually took me a good minute to figure out what the heck was happening when the guns were blowing up on themselves because of his bullets! That was so badass and now I love him.
Man I miss seeing Abraham and Eugene together. They had the perfect duo relationship. If only Eugene wasn't lying, then that might have made for even more epic scenes.

I love the Rosita/Eugene relationship. Can relate. Carried a torch for my best friend for ages. If the coolest, best person you've ever known is also gorgeous and aligned to your orientation, you're gonna have that. It's really nice to see them grow into just loving one another in a different way that doesn't have to "get weird."
i like the whole scene where rick is talking to Eugne, Darrle in the back listening to the conversation, Eugen still feeling like he hasn't pulled his weight, Rick basically tellin him its thanks to you we are at this point. Eugen would have cried like a baby for two hours if that scene dragged on lol, that gratification hit my smart homie hard.
When he finnaly came clean and said he wasn't a scientist, most people were upset but they took it OK, not Abraham tho.. That dude threw a fit like you wouldn't believe 🤣🤣
I seriously don't care what anyone says. Eugene is one of my favorite characters in TWD universe. I loved him even when he was kinda a coward. I love his personality and he's very funny. He's very useful to the group too as he's very intelligent and now he knows how to fight thanks to Rosita.

This is the most epic video about Eugene Hermann Porter. I wished a video like this for a some time ago to inspire me on the school, but, still gets me inspire much. Since i knows Eugene i have identified a lot with him, in each area of their personality, mind, emotions and their big inteligence and capacity to learn things. He will be my favortite character of The Walking Dead forever. Thank you for the video.

That has always been my big disappointment in TWD......they kill off my fav characters and bring boring lesser characters that I can't get interested in.
I really disliked Henry because of the loss of Tara and Enid.
I've been rewatching TWD from beginning and noted Eugene's voice in his first episode is totally different from the rest of the show, i thought it would change over time but in his 2nd episode it's the way it always is.
I love his story he's inspirational I hope he lives he shows that anyone can be brave he's gotten braver and I love it I also love his new hair XD

I’m a HUGE Eugene fan he has been my fav character since his appearance but I don’t remember the scene from 16:50 someone give me reference!!
At the start he was a bit weird, but is definityly one of my favorites now. His growth is amazing.
Also the 16:50 scene at the solar panels is in episode 8x16 after the war ended. It's atleast after Rick gave the speech after he slit Negan's troat.
