Hey, Whats up Guys? Thanks for watching this video. I am sure tired of workin on this engine hahaha when you're finished watching this one go check out the will it start adventure of Marla the 1985 Aerodyne cabover ruclips.net/video/v5de9DxBxfg/видео.html
James that bolt head locking the engine was well spotted.i wonder how many would have taking the time to figure that out.iv worked on many engines over 40 years and im still learning.if you ever think you know it all then something will bring you back down to earth.great video.
Hey nothing bad to u k ! Just wondering if you look much I like the Mormon that is a cool truck my uncle always talked about them when I go in the truck with him in 1986 87 89 they all ways had a cattle wagon !! 👍
You can always tell a GOOD engine shop...Never enough room nor time to clean it up...always an engine or truck to work on...The best shop I ever worked in, only had walking room between the engines. OUTSTANDING
Good video James! You figured out u r engine locked up problem! I photocopied the valve n injector sequence from my Cummins manual n put it in a document protector to keep it clean. Used a lumber crayon to mark valve/injectors that I had set. No mixups that way!
I use the brake parts cleaner off the shelf from Walmart. The Supretech stuff works good. I'm with you about working under a motor hanging from a chain like that. That'd be a NOPE! not gonna happen.
Morning JP ! It's a pleasant 55deg in beautiful Montana ! You have a really nice shop but I'm thinkin maybe you have way to much stuff. You're only the second person I've ever heard use the term "dinkin around". I'll say one thing for you though. When it comes to working on these projects you keep at it , and you're not afraid to tackle any job. I guess tenacious is the word that best describes your work ethic !
You could try 24 volt lol, there’s no truck electronics to mess up. You’ve became one of my favorite channels. I greatly respect your care and tenacity. Someday you’ll have 200k, you sure deserve it.
I get a kick how you name all your equipment and trucks old lady names probably somebody You once knew Way you work you don't even need to go to a gym everything you do is hard work my hats off to you thanks for the videos always cool
ya the cats are cool but really as a old school trucker the only ones that had cats back then where owner ops it seemed otherwise it was 350 cummins or detroits or the hand me down 400 cummins that where soon to head for auction
Good video again my friend I cannot blame you not wanting to get under The motor when it is chained up be safe is always a good job to do and you will get it Runing you are a good mechanic my friend and my copperhead snake bit is getting better Man I tell you what my friend that hurt when that snake bit me my arm look like The Incredible Hulk I was going racing this weekend but I don’t think so now my right arm I can’t hardly move it but I will make it thank God be safe keep up the hard work

That funny your working on that Cummins the other my buddy Pete came over the other day and readjusted the rack on my small cam 400 that's in my pete thats on my channel he said you did good with tools I got cause ever single valve just need a 1/4 turn tighter and he adjust the injectors in the down or fire position cause he said sometimes the cam lobes are not always the same
Solid motors for sure and pretty dependable but I have to say, the sound of the Cat motors... there's that low frequency burbble when they first belch to life lol Great sounding motors and equally as time tested and true as the Big Cam 400's and 350's. All cool. :-)
Can't wait for the next episode now I can't figure out or I didn't hear what caused it to lock up when you put the new starter in your head to have the Is fly wheel in again
Hi James & Jessica. I bin wactchin your stuff. Twin stick. The Detroit guys & it makes me feel I need to get over but in reality I’m dreaming if I ever come into money ie lotto. Il b over there as quick as. In mean time in the real world I’m going to watch all the stuff reagards Les 🏴❤️👍🇬🇧
Love those old cab overs. There are 2 or 3 of those kw setting going to rot at a old grocery store that I drive by plus a freightliner cab over graveyard
James, I ain't no go to guy... what worked for me was ignorance. I just kept trying till things worked and that was that. I did have to use the spacer on the starters for sure. I was told so did it that way every time possible as some things are just never in your favor... I was told to dial indicate the flywheel when installing and it did make a difference.. I was real surprised at how much it did make to have it done that way but that said, the few I didn't do that ... they ran out great. I used to have a air starter for the shop as its easier to drag a airline than batteries. And then here comes story time.. I built a 350 and had it ready to install in a rig when time came to need one. It sat on a stand for most probably three or four months. Guess what... locked up tighter than dicks hat band! Old guy came over laughing at me frustrated thinking I did something bad wrong putting it together. He told me that even engines that have ran a bit which I did start them after building one, he told me that everything is tight on a fresh engine so they do stick if sat for a bit. Best to go over and just turn it over every now an then.... he said that after they were well broke in, it didn't happen as often but if still fairly new, they will still stick... after worn in good, they don't tend to stick. Clearances are greater after worn a hundred thousand miles. Back to those flywheels, I seen them run out a quite a bit even though tightened proper an not over tightened. Just recently my boy changed the tire on his shit pile ranger... a hundred dollar get you there maybe truck.. he just walked that rim on going in a perfect circle, I know thats not what you did on the flywheel, anyway I told him to just loosen it back up and do it right... well he said hell its fine so off to walmart for watermelon an some cookies for me. (hell of a sweet tooth in my old age) That front end on the shit pile shook me in my seat but he is damn near sixty now so its one of those he knows best things... I jacked the damn thing up and turned the wheel with him looking at it... .he said its bent... I tightened it right an it turned just fine... did he learn anything??? I would put dollars against dog crap he never... and his job is building huge convery and overhead cranes,, stuff like that including he was the lead on the harley shop in Minnesota... he ain't no dummy but he sure can try me... I do have a funny story about my age and birth certificate.... takes a bit to tell but might explain the age of my boy compared to my age/LOL
@@robdavies7 Why?? Even I have a hard time believing me and I was there... in that dirty cold mud, just miserable yet a smile lurked behind my lips... another good save

I can work on any engine. Steam gasoline diesel jet whatever. At some point I’m going to work on a jet engine for a project. Be a while

No the engine in TruckX is going to get rebuilt and go into Trisha
May have to much end play in crank

Me either was my first time. Also the cpl is 1211 which I found is a 400 so not sure exactly. But the tag does say ntc-365
we had them in australia b/c 4 at 320,365,400,and 444.
the 365 and 400 ran the same cpl which was 904,and the 444 was cpl 903. and the 320 was cpl 905.
