Thanks so much for the raw transparency. I'm looking to open my own gym soon. I will be documenting the whole thing as a way of giving back and helping others, just as you do. Thanks for being so down to earth.
I have been looking at creating a climbing gym and have been doing some studying, and when I found this channel, I said this deserves a sub. Thank you so much!
This has been a needed bucket of water over my daydreams of opening a gym. Now i need to work out how to convince someone else to open one in my area, haha. Closest indoor climbing is a 4 hour drive!
Where and who? I love bouldering and think that it is the purest form of climbing but it tends to be a harder sell to the general public, young kids and the aged.
Favorite video(s) are all the homemade climbing holds...not an easy feat to pull off! wish I had tried more materials when experimenting myself a few years ago. Nevertheless, I have homemade-resin holds bolted up outside right now and they have yet to fail me!
I really want to open a climbing gym I just have so many questions on starting one like do you need a special inspector come inspect your climbing walls or what kind of permits do you need
Thank you for your climbing gym videos. Question, how does floor square footage translate into wall square footage, as a guesstimate? Say if a retail shoplot is 3,000 sqft large?
@@climberdad This event, I presume? ruclips.net/video/YXEQSDeY8l0/видео.html Unfortunately I won't be able to make it due to timezone differences. All the best!
I dream about opening a climbing Coffe shop. Invest a god amount of money I dont have right now, maybe in future somethime.. . Thanks for video, it was very hopeful.
I love climbing, but I love building and designing more! If you still need an extra hand for road crew, I am interested, (Sorry for being out of contact for a bit, went on vacation to Zion and lost track of time!) Awesome chalk pouch, would love to be considered for your giveaways!

Thoughts on starting a bouldering only gym?
Where and who? I love bouldering and think that it is the purest form of climbing but it tends to be a harder sell to the general public, young kids and the aged.
@@climberdad There are lots of bouldering only gyms in Germany.
Saw this video and got so excited since I live in Clarksville and never knew they had a gym!!! Much to my dismay google says it’s permanently closed 😢
Yes. We couldn't make it through the shutdowns in 2020, sad but true.
@@climberdad You didn't get the PPP loan?

That's a good question but a little complicated. I would love to compile a list of questions for some climbing wall talk videos.
Thank you for your climbing gym videos. Question, how does floor square footage translate into wall square footage, as a guesstimate? Say if a retail shoplot is 3,000 sqft large?
Very quick answer- 2000 sqft. This would be a great question for the live event tonight, 7:30 Eastern.

Got it.
That auto belay cost; is that PER autobelay?
Last time I checked auto belays are costing $2,500-$4,000. per unit. Quantity, style and size all play into the cost.

how do you get funding for a Rock Climbing Gym.
Personal funding up to 20%. Solid business plan and present it to as many banks as it takes for approval.

So basically dont build a climbing gym. Buy real estate.
