Many folks tend to look down on drybrushing as something inferior but I do still use the technique, particularly on infantry models. It's all about getting the technique right and using the right amount of paint on your bristles I think and the GW dry paints attempt to help with this but I usually find they are too stiff and dry out REALLY quickly. It certainly sounds like the ones from Ammo are better as well as MUCH MORE sensibly priced so I will definitely give them a try when I do another order from them - and I most certainly will be ordering from them again, the last lot of stuff I got was great! Thanks again Enrique, a really helpful video.
Thanks, Rick! I loved the consistency, you could really use it for a good while before it turned chalky. And the value for money is tremendous, as you say!
If someone states that a certain technique is "inferior" - that is a good marker of a clueless moron who never did anything with his habds OR creativeless fool who only copies guide videos from one or two influencers and have nothing of his own to add to the topic =)
It's all about the technique. You have to be subtle with the application. A ham fisted approach won't work. The other great variation I learnt from ModelChili's RUclips channel is essentially "double dry brushing", when you drybrush a highlight colour, and then do a second drybrush using a medium tone between the two. You don't apply as much with the second application, but you get a very soft demarcation between all three shades. Almost a form of "micro modulation" if you will.
I saw this product yesterday and thought about buying it but haven't made my decision, and today I saw your review on this, what a coincidence! Your video is helpful, thank you.
Just saw this product and than started to research it and have to say I am sold on it. I do alot of dry brushing in aircraft cockpits and such and this would be great to use. And I like your videos so keep up the good work.
awesome work and beautiful base! Just one detail I would consider - to do some damage to the street tiles under the titan's feet - I believe the sheer weight of the titan and the impact while walking would deform the street and crush the tiles. Amazing work, I will try this product myself, many thanks for amazing review!!
Hi Jan, thank you, happy you enjoyed the video. I only painted the base - got it already built. That Titan was a lot of fun to paint, but as it happens, I sold it last year!
@@TheRaceForTerra absolutely! They seem like they'll be a marked improvement over the stuff I use when I dry brush 😂 Do you think they could work with sponge chipping as well?
Another good one! One question! The metal paint is it comparable in terms of metal like vallejo metal color series or is something diferent? Thank you in advance! Your channel is good!
@@abellyofanarmy Hah, ok. Yes, I think the tones are very good, but the main thing is the consistency here. It's so much better for drybrushing, and it's not just metallics, the range is very wide. I just didn't have more minis to test!
I havent thought much to drybrush specific stuff before but i am actually quite tempted here!!! love the base on that titan, did you make it yourself?? ALSO! Careful not too drybrush that Breitling :D
I only painted and weathered the base, I'm afraid. Dryrbrushing the Breitling wouldn't be an issue, but there's a reason I don't wear it when spraying lacquers...heheh.
Really good review. Do you think you could use the paint with a detail brush as opposed to a larger specific drybrush so you could get a edge highlight affect?
Awesome review! I will be purchasing the metallic dry brush color. Quick question, was the interior of the drop pod painted using the same method as you did with the Titanicus model? I saw on the dreadnought tutorials that you used Vallejo gunmetal but didn’t see what you did afterward.
Thank you very much! The interior of the Drop Pod I did with 2-3 enamel washes, but applied by brush that time. Track wash, Dark Wash and Black Wash, I think.
A couple of things -Great video as always -Since you mentioned they're more gel-based than normal acrylics, would you say the consistency is more akin to Scale 75 paints since they are also gel-based? -Please tell me all about that Warhound base, that's exactly the kind of thing I was looking for to base my 30k Ultramarines
Hey Michael, thank you very much! I have quite a few Scale 75 paints and I like them, but no, these are far denser. Think almost toothpaste consistency. As for the base, all I did was paint and weather it; II was lucky enough to get it already built.

Myself, I send people to see Artis Opus’ videos when they’re snotty about drybrush. That’ll usually do it

that light metal color dry brush was so smooth! beautiful work amazing video!

These seem great for urban and industrial stuff, which are the models I currently work on. Very consistent if nothing else.
I highly recommend the AK True Metal oil paints. they blend so nicely on a black base and give you that worn metallic surface you want
Great stuff as usual!
Thank you, Joakim!
Great video as always, sir! I might just have to try some of these out, that metal effect is particularly lovely!
Thank you, Nick! The non-metallics might be interesting for stippling, in particular.

would you say light sand is correct for highlight pale skin rather than white or skin tone from these paints?
Hi n n, I haven't painted infantry/figures with these, and I think it will depend on the previous layers, but I would guess so.
@@TheRaceForTerra Thanks, i picked it up from the store and it looks fairly similar to screaming skull from Citadel, which i dont have atm
Worth a try, I think. I haven't used Citadel products since the 90s, so I'm afraid I can't help you with equivalences ;-)
Very Nice!
Thanks, Dantioch!
Will it work for fishing lures n baits
No idea, sorry!
how to clean brush ?
If you mean after the DIO paints, just water and soap - they are acrylic.
Great stuff. I might have to look into these paints. But more importantly: Warhound showcase when?!
Thank you, Tapio, but the Warhound showcase was one of my first videos! 😉
